Working great for 5 years

I bought this in 2018 and now, in 2023, it's still working great. It's not really showing any signs of wear so I expect it to keep functioning quite a bit longer. I'm very happy with the purchase.

Perfect fit

The green cord was hard to pull out, but once it was in position, the gate worked great. Huge improvement in water velocity.

Great universal door- doesn't always stay

In previous ones, there was a blue wire to pull to install. This one had little metal pins to pull out once the door was in. The pin heads are small and smooth and can't be pulled out under water. They also pop out often and you have to hope you can find the spring piece. Wish they offered replacement parts.

Instructions are real lacking but the weir works fine

It works as a universal fits all per the opening, e.g. if you are replacing the factory fit 8.5in weir need to get an 8in an will have slightly smaller weir flap now. The reason 3 stars is instructions are way too brief unclear. It "installs"/attaches inside your skimmer using its tension rod not unlike shower curtain tension rods. The tension rod is "locked" by 2 pins that the "instructions" say "do not pull pins until installed" which is hard/impossible if you install it where it needs to be to work b/c you cannot get to the pins at that point. Note you will need pliers to pull the pins. What you need to do is insert the Weir into the skimmer and pull the pins while you can get to them, the tension rod will shoot out to the side walls of skimmer, and then slide the weir lower into position. I did mine from inside the pool. Also the weir is hollow and open ended on each side with Styrofoam block inside that I thought was packing material and removed, but actually the styrofoam is needed for the weir flap to work, so I got to install the weir twice ;) . Again instructions are not clear but just think of it as a tension rod system that simply needs to be released by pulling pins (need pliers for that) and simply slide it into the skimmer housing. BTW you can pull the pins before inserting the weir in the skimmer but need to make sure the tension rod at each end is pressed against something solid (pool decking in my case) so it doesnt shoot out and loose spring.

Super easy to install and a bargain

Way cheaper than a hayward part and super easy to install. It was the right size out of the box.

Ignore the Directions

The directions said to "pull a string" to release the spring-loaded pins which hold it in place. Yet there is no string. What you really have to do is pull these metal pins out of the front (facing the pool) to release the spring. My suggestion is to pull one and then set it in place, then pull the second one out. Other than that, it does what it should.

Cheap gate

You get what you pay for, I replace this each year as it pops off. Works well, but it doesn’t last very long
