Durable and lubricious
Exactly like the product that came in a metallic squeeze-tube decades ago. Works well to put a fine rust-resistant film on metal surfaces and doesn't harden up in cold temperatures. Works well for lubrication on a variety of items.

This is an old standard. Been around forever
I finally used the last of a jar of the RiG stainless+. That’s been discontinued so I ordered this. For the younger crowd this is not a super grease to use on your fancy auto rifle or handgun. Generations have used it as a gun rust preventative. Get some micro fiber rags smear a small amount of RIG onto it and work the grease in. I have blued hunting guns that need occasional care in storage. Rig has a texture that is not sticky like other greases. It’s ideal for me. I don’t smear it on like cosmoline. Just wipe off fingerprints with that slightly oily rag. I put that rag in a zip lock bag and carry it with me. Gun gets a wipe every time I handle the gun before going into a case or storage. Guns like the Rem Express with that textured finish are ideal candidates for this treatment. One small jar lasts decades. Yes it can be used as a lube on your 1911’s etc but there are those super lubes out now that are better. That Stainless + I mentioned was a different formulation that was used on the old stainless guns to prevent galling- something the current manufacture’s have finally solved with different steel formulas. Yep I’m old but the longer I hang around the more I’m going back to old stuff. Hoppe’s 9 is still on my bench. The cost of the latest and greatest does not really make a difference that most of us can benefit from. I’m open to new technologies but in the end I find that what worked for decades still works.

Resists water
This is what we used back in the day to keep our hunting rifles from rusting in the rain. Carrying a pistol IWB in the summer in the South can leave a film of rust on the slide from sweat. Work's great to prevent that.

Great grease
This grease works wonderfully to lubricate my AK47 rifle and helps the moving parts glide with ease. These rifles dont always have the best fitment of parts and this grease makes it glide like butter.

Not a lubricating grease but good rust protection
It doesn't really feel like a grease, it's thin and oily, not at all tacky, wipes off easily, it wouldn't lubricate anything at least not for long. Its kind of like Fluid Film with a dash of Cosmoline. You don't apply it like most grease, you wipe on a thin layer with a pad, kind of like a wipe on wood finish. Like a wood finish I'd let this air out a bit before putting it back in the safe, it can burn your eyes and it's got a "severe health hazard l" rating of 3 out of 4, as high as it gets on a consumer product, indicating irreversible major injury, severe irritation, or extensive tissue damage upon contact. Usually you only see that on some industrial chemical kept in a locked room that only that one guy at the plant has a key to. Somewhat concerning to see that rating. Not exactly sure what it's there for, but should be taken seriously, you don't get that rating for no reason. Very few consumer products would have they rating. Maybe brake cleaner and some pool acids. Definitely wear gloves when handling and don't touch your eyes.

this Universal grease is great, I can leave it on for months
I do not own a firearm. But what I use this for is to coat my slides on my French Horn. the water based coating gets hard and sticky, and has to reapplied every week or so. this Universal grease is great, I can leave it on for months, the slides do not seize and does not get hard. been using this for 20 years without any issues Fantastic stuff.

A great product from Birchwood Casey. Designed for longer term storage. I use it before I put things away for the Winter. It does a great job of protecting my investments.
