Crystalline brightness !
These 10x42 Conquests are a VERY bright binocular, and you notice it as soon as you place it to your eyes. A crystalline quality to the brightness, indicative of top optics, that bely the price at which Zeiss sells them. I also purchased the 10x56 Conquest HDs, with the intent to keep one of them. The 10x56s use Abbé-Koenig prisms, which in theory should let in more light, in addition to their larger 56mm objectives. Taken in isolation, the 10x56s are impressive too. But for the added size and bulk, they were not adding anything substantial for my use case, vis-a-vis the 10x42 Conquests. If I am buying a binocular with a 56mm objective, I might as well go for the 15x56, for the added bulk. In really low-light conditions (near pitch-dark to the naked eye), both of these binoculars exhibited a light-intensification effect, and to my eyes, both of them looked comparable, with a very slight edge to the 10x56. The eye-cups are a bit gritty and I am not a big fan of the diopter ring on the oculars, but I am willing to overlook that, for the high-quality optics. The Zeiss SFs and the Swarovski ELs and the NL Pures are of course a notch better in every way, but they cost over double and triple the cost of these Conquests, and I could not justify the additional cash outlay for the incremental improvement in performance. I returned the 10x56s and kept the 10x42s.

I think the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 is still the best for the money!
I tried a slug of $1K roof-prism binoculars simultaneously, and I think the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 is still the best for the money! I have been in the market for a good mid-range roof at about the $1K mark in either 8x32 or 8x42, so I ordered a bunch of them and compared them all together. To cut to the chase, I liked the Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 the best overall. When I would compare them side by side, I would consistently be struck with the almost ungodly on-axis sharpness of the Zeiss and the overall brightness. The awesome optics combined with the best smoothest fastest focuser that you can use with one finger and the ergonomics and compact shape helped me make my decision to keep the Zeiss over all the other excellent binoculars. The Leica Trinovid 8x32 had beautiful saturated colors, but the FOV was narrower than any of the other binoculars and the eye cups were not long enough for the eye relief with my shallow eye sockets. The Vortex Viper HD 8x42 deserves "Honorable Mention" because it was the best binocular at its price point of $500, but it wasn't quite as sharp or as bright as the Zeiss and the focuser wasn't as smooth. The Vortex Viper HD 8x42 is a better binocular than the newer Nikon M7 8x42 or the Fujinon HC 8x42. If you can only spend $500, and you want a roof binocular, I would highly recommend it. The Fujinon HC 8x42 has terrible ergonomics with its square shape and almost all metal eye cups which are cold against your face on a cold day. The Meopta Meostar and Nikon MHG were middle of the pack. Good, but not as sharp as the Zeiss, especially on-axis. Of all the other binoculars I tried the Maven B1.2 8x42 was probably the closest optically to the Zeiss, but it wasn't quite as sharp on-axis, and it was heavy even for a 42 mm at 31 oz. and the focuser was tighter and not as smooth. Every time I went back to the Zeiss it would WOW me with its big bright FOV and extremely sharp, clear on-axis view. The Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 is fairly light at 22 oz. and it is pretty small and compact in your hands, and the armour feels very comfy and warm. The eye cups are still stiff when you extend them, but if you leave them in one position it is not a problem. The objective covers work good, the rain guard fits well and works good, the case is one of the best and the strap is great. The Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 looks tough, and it is. The build quality is excellent. It is an exceptional birding tool for $1K. I have had the Zeiss FL 8x32 and the Zeiss SF 8x32 and I don't feel they are worth twice the price of the Conquest HD for maybe 5% more performance. For $1K, the Zeiss Conquest HD IMO can't be beat. Here is a list of the binoculars I tried. I also have the Nikon E2 8x30 porro-prism and I think it is one of the best porro's you can buy, but that is another story! Great clarity, terrible eye cups.
Amazing clarity. Great color. I don't get why a company that produces such stunning optics would put eye cups on their binoculars that would shame a $200 pair. Don't buy these until they fix this problem.

Nice glass, sensitive focus knob.
When I bought these, I was comparing two models: The Vortex Razor HD 10x42 and these. I bought the Zeiss over the others for two reasons. First, the optical quality. In my opinion the Zeiss was clearly superior to the Vortex Razor. I only had to have them up to my eyes for a few seconds to know that I liked the Zeiss glass better. The second reason is not as obvious and might help others choose. The Zeiss focus knob is very sensitive. It will take some getting used to. At the same time, the sensitive focus knob is very easy to adjust with just one finger. This makes it so that one-handed use and focusing is easier to do. The Vortex honestly felt really good in my hands. It has great ergonomics. However, with the Vortex I felt like I couldn't focus as easy unless I had two hands on them. I did a lot of one handed focusing on my last hunting trip and I thought that the Zeiss would be better at that. Conclusion: The Zeiss Conquest HD has great optics. The ergonomics are not as nice as the Vortex Razor, but I liked the sensitive focus knob.

Excellent optics, will bring it out every time I am hiking
I bought this as an upgrade for my 10 year old 7x30 bino. It isn't a fair comparison because my old bino only took me 500 Chinese Yuan (roughly $100 CAD today). But that is the only bino I had. Well, I had tried a 8x42 bino ($200 CAD) years ago but my memory already faded. When I got this Conquest HD 8x32 it was still winter. The first day I took it out on a trail I was a bit disappointed because the color fringing seemed to be quite visible. I would say as bad as my old bino. Somehow I thought it's because the weather caused the extra high contrast (white snow + white sky VS black/grey tree). Then I noticed there's dust inside of the binocular. The seller was contacted and they re-send me a new one once received my return. I don't have to pay for the shipment. Thumbs up! The new bino has a greater serial number so I assume it is manufactured later than the original one. When I brought this out, there seemed to be less chromatic abberation. The image quality is very good. Now I understand what it meant by "objects pop out" in the reviews I read. Resolution is very high, it definitely deserve "HD" on its body. If I am comparing it with my old 7x30, it's like comparing 720p to 480p, especially at night. During the day, even the birds behind the woods can stand out from the image. Pros: - High image resolution - Excellent contrast - Wide field of view. This makes is very easy to search objects. - Very smooth focusing knob, it takes only slightly more than one full turn from closet to infinity. This makes tracking objects (birding) much easier than my old bino, which takes 2+ turns. - Neck strap is very comfortable. Cons: - When turning Eyecups, after the first click, the one on the diopter side would separated from the inner sleeve (the part that screws onto the binocular). Workaround is to turn it reversely so it screws tightly. - Lens caps and eye caps feel cheap. Even my old binocular's caps feel much better and easier to use. Fortunately this doesn't really impact the daily usage. Overall: Image quality is very good. I took quite some nice pictures of birds using my cell phone through this bino, although the picture quality never come close the the actual view through the binoculars. Rolling globe effect is still there but it doesn't bother me. Chromatic abberation is almost unnoticeable in most cases.

German quality
I am not an expert in binoculars, but I only heard good things about the company Zeiss. They might not have the same warranty on their product as Vortex or others, but there is a torture video on the internet about the Conquest HD, and I do not think any of those will ever happen to my glasses :).

Great binoculars
I bought these as a gift for mu husband, who is very happy with them. The quality of these binoculars is well documented after rigorous testing. He's also happy with the size, look anf feel. And the delivery was on time, as expected. Highly recommended.

Excellent quality for bird watching
These binoculars are worth their price. The optic is incredible. The size and weight are at the upper limits of the confort zone for bird watching. Very nice protectors and case. The oculars have a device that enables one to use the binoculars with or without glasses.
