Yes, it's big

I've been looking for a vented popcorn scoop that wasn't tiny for quite awhile. The vents allow the unpopped kernels to fall out which is nice. I use it at home and for movie night. We have reuseable popcorn cups and a stir crazy popper. I pour the popcorn into a big stainless bowl, toss with olive oil (yes, it tastes like wonderful butter - but better for you) and some nut salt. Then I use this scoop to put into the cups. The reuseable cups have an opening about 3" in diameter and this works great. Because I'm working over the stainless steel bowl, excess falls back into the bowl. This scoop is aluminum with a twisted on painted wood or wood like handle and easy to clean. I would not put it into the dishwasher because of the handle and I don't think aluminum does well in the dishwasher. Just my opinion. It arrived in fair amount of time via USPS and in good condition, well packed. All in all, I like it and would recommend it.

Good Scoop but That Darn Handle.............

Amazon Shoppers.....We own a Movie Night Outdoors Service and have a Commercial grade Popcorn machine that we make Movie Theater Quality popcorn and sell at our events. We looked for a good popcorn scoop to speed up the process of filling the bags up. We gave this 4 stars instead of 5 ONLY because we are having issues with the black handle. The black handle comes unscrewed from the scoop and while it does screw on easy with NO issues we found out through out one event night the handle likes to come unscrewed on its own. I have tightened it pretty tight but not too tight that I might damage, crack or split the plastic handle but yet still works it self loose. The end of every event I forget I wanted to Handy Man fix this but my word of advise would be when you get it, you might want to add some super glue, gorilla glue or some strong adhesive to the handle or the threads on the scoop then screw it on and tighten it down the best you can and let it dry. Other than that darn ole handle I would say its a pretty good buy!

This IS the popcorn scooper you're looking for!

This is the 3rd popcorn scoop I have had for my 8 oz popping cart. I guess 3rd time's a charm. I love this scoop. It's a good size for the machine. The others I had were too big. This feels good in your hand and is easy to use with my machine. I love the holes so that any kernels you scoop up fall through. We use this once a week, and I notice how that I have this scoop, I hardly find popcorn kernels in my popcorn bag. Highly recommend. Wash by hand, but cleans easily.

I wish this had come with my popcorn machine, it's so nice to not have to pick out the Old Maids!

I can't believe I didn't get this sooner! I have a popcorn machine, and the scoop it came with was pretty annoying to use. It was well, scoop shaped, not flat on the bottom, so it was hard to get much at a time, and it also scooped all the seeds. Bleah. With this, you don't get a lot at a time, or if you do, you lose a good deal when you shake it to get the seeds to fall through the holes, but that makes it not matter. Giving kids a bowl full of popped popcorn with no seeds is worth a few extra turns with this scoop. I just wish there were a left handed option, too. So far, I haven't noticed any issues with the handle, as some other reviewers have, but I wonder if that's due to the popcorn oil getting worked into the threads. Inside the wooden handle is a threaded metal piece where the screw end of the metal handle goes. It seems well made. So I suspect the oil is helping the thing work loose.

Good commercial grade product, only one single flaw.

Let's start with the pros on this popcorn scoop. First it is very lightweight and the holes are very effective for letting unpoped kernels and smaller pieces of popcorn fall out and not get placed in your bag. This defiantly helps the customer be more pleased with the popcorn they receive. This scoop is very good construction and can easily handle daily use! Now the one major con. My employees and I spend a lot of time scooping popcorn and our goal always is speed and fluency in getting people thru our concession line. The old scoop I had the handle is at a different angle to the scoop itself and was much more ergonomical making filling a bag much faster and easier. Overall the only flaw I found was the angle of the handle to the scoop and this is only a minor inconvenience. I would still recommend this to anyone that scoops large amounts of popcorn in a short amount of time such as theaters, sports concessions, etc.

Effective, and less expensive than a trip to the dentist :)

Overview Just what I needed to compliment the new popcorn machine. It does make the containers easier to fill...but the true genius of this scoop it the ability to filter out any of the un-popped kernels. The machine itself does have a screen in the bottom directly under the kettle, but that still leave plenty of un-popped kernels around the perimeter. Just a quick scoop...and little side to side shake and into the bowl or box. It is surprisingly effective. It is a little expensive for what you get...but so is the dentist :) Pros -good build quality -effective at filtering out the un-popped kernels -makes filling up popcorn bags/boxes easier (they have a smaller opening that bowls) Cons -a little expensive...but still good value Recommendation – Would buy it again and would highly recommend .
