Quality Safe: Best internal/external demensions I could find for a drawer safe
There was not alot of options out there for a drawer safe that opened over the top and had the size specs I needed (both internally and externally) so I took a chance on this safe (I usually look for items with at least 25 reveiws and within the 4 star range at a minimum). I have been using it for 5 months now. I typically open it once or twice a day. And typically using the electronic key pad. I am still on my first set of batteries. While the the door does chew up a lot of space internally it is still very roomy inside. I can fit a medium sized handgun, spare pistol mags, a large wallet, knife, and keys without an issue (and still has some room to spare). A large full seized pistol should not be an issue. The electronic key pad works fine as well as the key lock. The external demensions will still fit in your average drawer. This safe will not fit standard size documents (8 1/2 by 11) in case anyone is curious. It is a sturdy piece. It has some weight to it. However I am using it in a soft close drawer and the weight has not been an issue. For a practical drawer safe with more space then most safes in this spectrum I'd say this is a quality buy.

Out dated instructions and low quality handle overall B+
The quality of the safe is pretty good for what it is sold for. The rotational lever to open the safe feels somewhat flimsy and with a little effort or maybe a thousand turns it might fail. The only real complaint would be the instructions to set up your personalized code or pin. I followed them to a 'T', but within minutes of setting the pin and locking the safe it would not recognize what it was set to and would not open. I attempted the directions several more times with the same result. After consulting with my favorite search engine and scanning the wide world of information there were better instructions. I do not remember where I found them, but the instruction sheet needs updated with valuable info. Or if you can do a little sleuthing online you can get the safe working just fine.

Small, gets the job done. Worth the money.
I needed a small drawer safe and this one was the right dimensions. Also wanted a keypad without sound, this one also fit the bill. Not the sturdiest safe I've seen. Lid rattles a little bit but it stays shut when it's latched. Still sturdy enough to keep anyone out unless they're trying REALLY hard though. The plastic piece that covers the batteries inside the lid broke off the first time I tried to put it back on. Had to tape it back on, but the batteries stay in just fine. I would recommend this safe for someone that needs a safe place to store very small valuables or a small handgun or two. It's not perfect, but for the money and how well it fits in my drawer, I'm happy with my purchase.

Ok safe. Not worth the extra from a side open safe.
The safe was as expected from something made in China, similar to all the other cheap safes on Amazon. This one was made to be opened facing up instead of the door opening sideways. For an extra $30, all they did to accomplish this was put the hinges on the long edge and add a spring. Which would be fine, but the spring isn't housed or enclosed. It is loose and looks like 4 loops wrapped around one hinge with 2 L shaped ends which put direct pressure on the door to open slightly when you unlock it. For 30 extra dollars, I was hoping for either the safe to be more sturdy or the opening mechanism more sturdy to justify the cost. Nope. So all they really did was add this free floating spring and a knob to the door. Lastly, their QC is suspect, as the black, flat turning know is completely misaligned. You can see it in other reviewer's pictures.

Safe is OK, but the warranty is nearly worthless.
You get what you pay for and in this case it is an OK safe with a few things to look out for. The knob you turn to operate the bolts is a fairly flimsy plastic piece. If someone were to get aggressive turning it (panic while opening?) it is bound to fail and no longer operate the bolt mechanism. When putting the batteries into the lock mechanism the only decent way to put in one of them is to compress the contact spring with something (screwdriver, dinner knife, ...) while putting the battery in place. Not a friendly design. The big issue I have with the safe is the warranty. It does not cover normal wear and tear! You must use the original packing and box that came with the safe. You must pay shipping to send it to them, not cheap on something this heavy. You then have to remit either $30 or $60 with the return for "shipping and handling". The uncertainty about $ is because both amounts are mentioned and it is not at all clear which one applies! If you pay to ship it and include that much money you are just as well off to throw the safe away and get a brand new one, making the warranty a joke. I do have to state I have not needed to exercise the warranty and Barska may in fact behave better than they state in the printed warranty.

A good handgun safe at a good price
Much better product than the slightly more expensive biometric quick access gun safes. While no gun safe is perfect, this safe focuses on safety features instead of cheap, low value tech. Watch a video on the fast biometric safes... I got one and a relatively intelligent 8 year old could crack it because the steel is so thin and there are large gaps in the metal. This is so much better and for less money

Excellent Value
I'm not sure why there are negative reviews. I took a chance on this safe when my wife and I needed a faster and more convenient way to store and access our carry-guns. Retrieving keys and fumbling with the gun safe in our poorly-lit closet got old fast. I purchased and installed this safe about a year ago and we both fell in love with it instantly. We access it several times per week and have never had any issues with it. The initial set of batteries are going strong. It is so easy to open and close and the locking mechanism is ultra-secure.

Pretty Good Safe For The Money
It has a way to turn off the sound, which is nice if you don't want the bad guy to hear you opening it. Easy set up. To open, enter the pin code and turn the handle clockwise: pretty easy to remember. Batteries are a little difficult to install. Instructions say that an alarm will sound if the door is left open for longer than a min, but no alarm sounded on mine. Haven't tried to mount it on the wall yet. Overall, a pretty good safe for the money.

Not as much interior space as you think.
Seems like a well built safe, and not many out there that are "too open". Keypad and locking dial felt well made and solid. Unfortunately on the one I received, the batteries and battery cover would fall off every time it was closed, making the keypad useless for anyone without a backup key. Also, the keypad and locking mechanism on the back of the door takes up a lot of interior space as it is about 1" to 1-1/2" thick and is about an 1" smaller than the door. Don't expect to fill this safe to the top, as the door will not close. Good for flat items, passports, currency and the like.
