Does the job

I was skeptical about buying one of these towels, but it has been so hot on the golf course this summer I decided to try it. I do think it provides a few degrees of relief. Worth the money.

Doesn't really stay cold.

Wanted to rate this higher but couldn't. It gets cold but lasts for a very short period of time. I was initially pleased but after about 10 minutes its just kind of cool.

It Works But....

I had a few issues with this cool towel but overall have rated it highly due to a simple hard fact: it works. My test consisted of towel prep according to instructions. This is as simple as wetting completely, wringing it out and then giving it an evaporation inducing wave as if you’re shaking the dust out of a rug. I tied the towel loosely around my neck and then sat outside with the shade temperature 96F or about 35C. I sat in the sun. I can’t calculate how hot it was but it was much hotter than in the shade. I sat and read comfortably for a half hour. In the past, I’ve noted that if I sit in even the shade for a long period at this temperature, I end up overly hot and miserably sweaty. So this towel did a remarkable as well as surprisingly effective role in assisting me keeping my cool. Now for the not so good. The towel, when in use, feels wet. I felt as if I were putting any wetted cloth around my neck. I found the sensation of wetness uncomfortable. I first assumed the towel was leaking water but my test of draping it over my shirt proved that wasn’t the case. I expected water on the shirt after laying the towel there for about five minutes but to my surprise, the shirt was dry. I’d say the claim that this towel doesn’t leak supported. However, it really made very little difference to me if it leaked since, even dry, the towel felt wet. This may simply be an artifact of it being cool – much cooler than ambient. I can’t say, but I can say I found the wearing to be a good deal less than enjoyable. So bottom line: it works but to me anyway, it’s a good deal less than pleasant to use.

Works Great for Outdoor Activities!

When I first saw this product description, I was pretty skeptical if it would deliver all that it promised. However, after using it for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised at how well this product works! I enjoy planting flowers and gardening outside, but the extreme Georgia heat can be pretty rough on me, particularly since I have asthma and can get overheated very quickly, which can trigger my asthma symptoms. I decided to try some gardening in the late afternoon while using this cooling towel around my neck. The towel was easy to set up: simply remove it from the container, thoroughly submerge it in very cold water, and then wring out all the excess water and give the towel a vigorous shake. That's it! I noticed that the towel starting getting nice and cool within 15 minutes. I wore it on my neck the entire time I was outside (approximately three hours), and it stayed nice and cold the entire time. I am really impressed! The cleanup is also simple: the towel ultimately dries out and becomes dry and easy to fold up and place back into its storage container until the next time you use it. This cooling towel is machine washable, re-usable, and antibacterial. For less than $10, I think this is a great product for adults and children participating in outdoor sports, gardening, hiking, or if you're watching an outdoor sports game in the blazing summer heat. I would definitely recommend this product!

Great for the Gym and Cooling Off in General

The Franklin Sports Sideline Cooling Towel works well! This towel has primarily been great to use after working out and when feeling overheating. My whole family has used this towel and benefited from its features so I'm feeling the need to get a few more. The towel comes in a plastic container that's long and sorta oval shaped. There's a pull of and on lid that stays tightly shut and won't just fall off. The storage container is particularly nice if you want to put the towel away without getting anything else damp say in a gym bag or duffel. How the towel works is that you run it under cool water making sure it's fully saturated. You then wring out the towel as much as possible. The towel is malleable and can be rolled up or just lay flat over the back of your neck or wherever else you wish. The cooling effect last for hours! When this towel dries I would recommend it's folded in a way that it can fit back into the storage container. It will dry in the shape it's left in and be very crisp/stiff like, so to speak. Upon first using this towel it did have a very strong plastic/rubber smell. But since using it many times and throwing it in the wash with all our other clothes, that smell has completely faded away. The towel is quite soft, no one found it to feel weird or irritating to our skin. It didn't leave us or our clothes damp. It's showing zero signs of wear. It hasn't faded or shrunk after being washed. My 10-year old that has a condition that causes her not to typically sweat all the time to cool off has all but claimed this towel. It's been particularly helpful to her after being out in the heat or when overexerting herself running about. We use this a lot so I am pleased it is antibacterial though we still wash it after most uses. For the quality and the easy care features of this towel, I was quite thrilled with affordable pricing. I certainly recommend this towel to all that work out or for those needing to keep cool without wetting a cloth or towel that will dry out and warm out a lot quicker than desired.
