Amazing Crocagator actually works!
I have a small fish pond with a few dozen goldfish in it. One morning I awoke to a load clattering on my roof, so I ran outside to see what was the matter. It was not reindeer, it was three large blue herons. I watched as they took turns gliding over to my pond and eating my fish. I spent that morning covering as much of the pond as I could with chicken wire hoping that would discourage the birds and save the fish, but the birds just walked out on the wire and fished through it. Now I was desperate. Looking up what predators I could use it came down to a plastic Owl, a cardboard Coyote (with realistic fur tail), and this plastic crocagator. I already had an Owl sitting on a post over the pond, so I knew that didnt work, So it came down to the Coyote or the Gator. I chose the gator because if it didnt work, at least I would have something in the pond. Next I carefully read the reviews. There were really only a few issues, one was the size, some people complained it was too small. Well, it is just the right size for a small pond, any bigger and it would panic the neighbors. The other issue was that sometimes it leaked at the attachment points, ok , a good coating of RTV sealant would fix that. (it did). The only modification I made was to cut the fishline anchor lines from the body and the tail. I left only the anchor line to the head, I wanted movement. I tied the head anchor line to a metal pipe elbow and popped it in the pond. It floats and moves perfectly. I set up the security camera to watch the pond but I needn't have bothered. Nothing flew near the pond. It has been three weeks now, and still Big Bird has stayed away! I even saw a few small baby goldfish, so all is not lost. As a plus, the chickens like to free range around the pond and it doesn't scare them at all. Overall, very glad I made the purchase!

Good, but should be better.
The media could not be loaded. Purchased as a “critter deterrent” for our pool, and have had it only a few days. We really like the product but it gravitates to the “skimmer”, where it gets stuck. We can’t anchor it because our pool service people will never see the fishing line that would be used to anchor it. Another problem are the small chains that are used to connect the 3 parts. They’re weak and one has already come apart. We’re not going to return the item but wish the chains were sturdier. I contacted seller and they told me gator was not intended to be used in a pool and that chlorine could cause discoloration. They invited me to return it, but we decided to keep it.

Super cute
I get loads of compliments on my floating alligator. I put him next to a jet in a shelf area in my pond in hopes to scare off Heron. We live on the lake so we have lots of heron flying around and wading on the lake shore. The alligator is just one of many predator deterrents I have and am adding to my pond. Even if he wasn’t a predator deterrent I would still have him in my pond as he is typically the first thing people comment on.

Wow, holds up and looks real!
I have now had this on my pond for 13 years! I have plugged some holes and repainted (krypton spray paint) a few times, and I still frequently have visitors ask if it's a real alligator (and I live in Maryland)! At one point I replaced the connecting chain links with wire so the body parts would not float too close together. Well woth the price!!

If I could rate it zero I would.
I bought this item for a themed parade. It would of been perfect for our theme but it was so cheap and designed poorly. Our item came broken as you can see in the first photo. As we inspected more of the item we kept realizing more and more stuff was broken. Started off with the snout being broken then was the clips to clip him together. We had no other option and had to do everything we could to make this alligator work for the parade. I showed a picture of what we had to do to make the alligator work and that wasn’t even then end of it cause then the clip/chain totally came off. I was very sad and disappointed with this item specially because it was not cheap. It was the most expensive alligator for the worst product. I would definitely not recommend to buy.

Cute
Bought this to keep ducks out of the pool. It gets caught in the skimmer trap. The head and tail attachment chains have already broke, so I tied them together using the nylon string included. It’s fun to see , but didn’t last more than 2 months. It worked, no ducks in the pool.

Didn’t work
Did not keep ducks out of my pool think the ducks know we do not have alligators in New Jersey but would look great by a pond or lake but a bit small also chain broke in multiple places not really worth the price

Realistic, "attractive", but not foolproof
The alligator was deployed by my wife. No problems that I heard about with the deployment. It is floating fine but I need to tie it to the pool cleaner with some fishing line to keep it from being blown into the corner and covered by the beach balls that are also in the pool. The only person who was scared so far was my daughter thought that something died and rolled over--a possum perhaps. She didn't go outside and look at it closely though, so I wouldn't call it a "scare" The pool guy noticed it and offered up another chemical to add to the pool that might help with keeping the ducks away. We got it to scare away a pair of ducks who are trying to adopt our pool. It seemed to be effective for a few days (not like the beach balls, which didn't do anything), but after 4 days they came back. I am going to tie it to the pool cleaner and see if that makes it work better. I think that its a fine little product and very realistic looking, but would like a bigger model yet to choose from. I encourage the maker to keep making these, as they might really be perfect for a koi pond. They just seem to kind get lost in the pool.

Floating alligator looks great
I like the humour it adds to my pond and the possible deterrent to fish predators at my pond. However the middle section of the alligator seems to be made of different material and discoloured unlike the head and tail.

Finish isn’t durable
The design, natural movement, and sturdiness of this product are exactly what I wanted; however, the finish is not durable. After just a few days in the pond it faded and appears to not be waterproof. I’m really not happy with how it looks now and I suspect it’s just going to get worse in the coming weeks. Why not return it? Well, my 2 and 5 year olds don’t want me to. They bonded with this albino version.

Happy with floating Alligator
Looks great in my pond. So far no fading and has been in sun for a week. I think it is worth the money.

Alligator
The box shouldnt say it doesnt fade because they do and the flimsy chains that hold the head body and tail together dont last long
