Decent for the price
I was a little skeptical this rack would fit three bikes but I was pleasantly surprised. I also like the tie down straps. My old rack had these plastic straps with buttons that locked in. Became a pain as they wore. Also it’s pretty secure on a 1-14” hitch. No complaints yet!

Great for the Price
This is I think the most basic offering by Allen Sports for a 3-bike hitch-mount bike rack. Allen Sports offers quite a range of racks and features at higher price points, so feel free to ignore reviews criticizing this model for not having this or that. At this price, this is a great bike rack. You probably already know that for cars/SUVs you can do hitch-mount, trunk-mount, roof-mount and put-it-the-trunk-mount. Hitch-mounts come in hanging and "tray" versions. If you already have a hitch, this hanging version a great bargain. You can easily pay upwards of $800 for the fancier hitch-mounts. Also, if your car is hitchless, buying and installing a car hitch will cost you several hundred dollars, so maybe this is not the way to go. The advantages of hitch-mounts? Generally faster and more convenient bike mounting/unmounting than trunk- and roof-mounts, much faster trunk access (for rotating or swinging hitch-mounts) compared to trunk-mounts, and better gas mileage than roof mounts. One of the bigger annoyances for hitch mounts is having to use straps and padding in strategic places to keep the bikes from rubbing against each other and the car. If you are getting a lightweight hitch-mount, like this one, it also has the big advantage of ease of removal and transport and storage. So...IF you will be using this rack only occasionally for that beach weekend or road trip, but otherwise want to store it in your home or garage, this is a great choice. It is well made, solid, lightweight and does the job. You are "giving up" many features, but if you need those, simply pay more. What you get: solid construction, fold-down arms, rotation for trunk access, a decent look (compact with stylish logo), ease of removal, compactness, and light weight. Here's what you don't get that might move you up the price scale (and how far up the scale is indicated by $$ signs): fast hitch removal (e.g. via a twist knob instead of a bolt) ($), lever for hanging bar rotation (instead of a removable pin) ($), lever for hitch rotation release (instead of a removable pin) ($), built-in hitch lock ($), built-in security cable ($), tray-style ($$ to $$$), super-rigidity ($$), rust-proof (all aluminum) ($$$). By the way, you can loop a cable through any "hole" in your car hitch or chassis then through the triangular opening at the bottom of this rack then through your bike frame/wheels. This will probably achieve better security than the thin cables and unsophisticated key locks that come built-in with pricier units. Also, getting more than 2 bikes on any hitch-mount rack is a pain. I got the 3-bike version because it makes a 2 bike mounting easier. BOTTOM LINE: Gets the job done AND can be removed and stored relatively easily.

Easy to install.
Worked great. Drove 1200 miles with 3 bikes on the rack. No problems.

How to fix the wobble
I have a 2017 Malibu and I was excited to get away from the trunk mounted bike carrier. I wanted something that wouldn't be rubbing directly against the paint and I also wanted something that feels more secure when I travel with 3 bikes. Like so many others I did not want to spend $300 on the bike carrier alone. I have other Allen brand products and have been happy with them. This bike rack is heavy -- I don't mind that because it is mounted to the hitch. The reason for only one star is simple and most of the other reveiws, even the good ones, mention the problem. They really got the sizing off when they machined this bike rack. It wobbles up and down and side to side very bad. I even tried the additional products like anti rattle pins and bolt systems. I tried to buy the hitch conversion and tried the rack with the 2" instead of the 1.25" Apart from welding, drilling, adding straps that would have to latch to the trunk for stabilization etc I have found no way to make this secure. I wobbles and rattles like crazy. I know the bikes are secure and aren't going to fall off but I don't think other drivers on the road will know it's that secure. I can only imagine if someone was driving behind me the terror they may feel seeing the bikes moving around that much thinking they're about to come lose. I'm still trying to find a cheap and easy fix. If I find one I will definitely share it. I think the price is fair for the quality. They just got the dimensions seriously off when they designed the male ends of this product. A couple centimeters is a big difference when you're putting steel to steel and driving 70 mph with 200lbs of awkward metal objects strapped on. More to come I was reading through some other reviews in here and low and behold.... you HAVE to use the pin they gave you. Use a wrench or a ratchet to tighten it. There is no longer a wobble. I ran a regular bike chain through the chain loops on my hitch and I wrapped it around and through the bike rack. Understandably if someone wants to disassemble the bike rack on the back of my car they can and they will make off with pieces of the bike rack - taking my chances there. The bolt that holds the rack in the hitch cannot be untightened with bare hands. You would have to have tools. And the bike chain locks that piece to the hitch anyway. For the price I am now very pleased with the product. Someone else left a review saying you had to use the pin they gave you and that person was correct. When I did that the wiggle and wobble was completely gone. Thanks and will post any updates if there are any.

So cumbersome that I returned it. But the deluxe version is really much better and totally work the money

ATENCIÓN: NO COMPRAR EL CANDADO: "Master Lock 2866DAT 1/2 in. and 5/8 in.

Pretty good
I am satisfied with the bike rack. It serves it’s purpose of holding the bikes. However I do have a few issues. As it does fit 1 1/4 hitches as well (which is great) there is only one hole, so if you buy a lock to lock your hitch (which is suggested by amazon) you aren’t able to use the stabilizing bolt at the same time. You can either drill another hole or do what I did and get a hitch tightener/ stabilizer. The stabilizer works well but you do need to keep tightening it. The second thing is that the bike rack metal seems to be “soft”. I have only used it 3 times when these pictures were taken and you can see there are indents in the metal. That’s something I am not pleased with. It does fit three bikes but it gets squishy. The bike rack is not too shabby on the price but if you want a really good bike rack you better buy a higher priced one.

Works well
This rack is good value and it works well. I have only used it with 2 bikes, I think it would be pretty tight with 3. I wish it was a bit lighter, as it is quite heavy. One thing I dislike is it is two pieces, with a bolt holding the square tubing together. If some really wanted, they could remove one bolt and take the top tube and your bikes.

Good rack vould be better planned
1. Throw out the 1/2 inch locking nut. It will not tighten enough and of you try it will strip bolt. Buy a regular 1/2 inch nut and washer. 2. Why they didn't drill a second hole for the suggested lock is a mystery. Go to a mechanic and spend $20 to get them to drill one. 3. Get strong bungies to hold the bikes against the rack. Now the rack is functional.

Good quality rack.
Easy to assemble and looks cool on my Ford Fusion. As others have mentioned it's cramped getting 3 bikes on but it's doable. I noticed the price has more than doubled since I purchased it, so I'm pleased I bought it when I did!
