These boots work great! I purchased them not knowing they had a felt sole. I am used to rubber, and was skeptical at first if I would like them or not. I just got back from four days of fly fishing in NM and can say these things worked perfect. They gripped the rocks better than any rubber sole I have ever used. They never hurt my feet or left blisters after 6+ hours a day for four days of walking and fishing. These are also my first pair of lace up wading boots. I got my foot hung up on a beaver dam trying to jump down, and if I had my old zip ups I would haver easily ended up with a sprained ankle. As far as sizing goes, I usually wear a 11.5 or 12, so ended up getting a 12. It is a hair too big, but again, never hurt my feet, so I am not going to change. As long as these things hold together, they are a great light weight boot for a fraction of the price of the bigger names. Watch out on grass though! They are slicker than snot!

So far so good
After owning and using these in Montana, Idaho and Washington they have held up fantastic so far I don’t know what people are saying with their soles coming up lol. Really grippy and haven’t had any slippage on any rivers yet. Only fell once because I walked in a bunch of mud and it stuck so that’s more on me than the shoe. Good and cheap.

Dissapointing
I have had these boots since July 12. I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and comfort. For the money, I thought they were a good deal and hoped to get a couple of seasons from them. I am a casual fisherman, not a guide. Now they have less than 50hrs of wading on them. First issue - Last night I went to pull them up and the ankle loop came unsewn (see pic). I will say the laces were loosened, but for any non-believers, it shouldn't matter. These are still pretty new, and even if the laces weren't loose, when you pull the ankle loop the boot just shouldn’t slip on. Period. The loop shouldn’t fail. Second Issue - The lace loops are already rusting (see pic). Just... wow. Third issue - The upper is beginning to pull away from the sole (see pic, it’s a little hard to see). There is a nick in the upper close to where its pulling away, but nothing that should cause this. The last pair of boots I had (from another company) were only $20 more and lasted for years. Given the price, I was hoping to get 2 seasons from these but I'll be surprised if they make it through next summer. Very disappointing to have such issues in such a short time. Ken

Good Value
Ordered these as well Frogg Ranas, both in felt. Both fit well and similarly. I ordered half size up and am happy, but could also have gone with straight sizing and had a good snugger fit, recommended if you will do more rugged applications. The Frogg Toggs are lighter, which was only relevent in hand, once on my foot they both felt lightweight. These Allens seem like more durable construction altogether, so they get the nod. But they also cost 25% more than the Toggs too, both still good affordable value.

Great boots - unfortunately need size they do not have
Love the boots, but slightly too small. Wish they had men’s 6.5

Decent boots, not great
The boots are "ok" kind of bulky and one of the lace clips broke on the second use but Amazon replaced the pair right away. Decent boots if you were on a tight budget, if not spend more on a bigger name brand.

Fell apart after 3 times used, less than 8 hours total on the river
The sole on the left boot, a large plastic molded piece with the felt attached, is separated from the rest of the boot, glue failed or something. They look like new, hardly used and now they are junk. What a waste of $80 .

Great boot at a budget price
First of all, this is my first pair of felt-soled boots, so I don't have a benchmark other than the rubber lug soles I had previously. Let me say these are a massive upgrade when wading over slippery rocks in fast water. I felt so much more confident and sure-footed even when angling in deep and fast water. Further, they seem pretty solidly built. Lots of support and extra protection against wear in the ankles and toes. They were comfortable, and even after long 8 hour days in the river, I didn't feel like they hurt my feet at all. I wear a size 10 street shoe, and ordered these in a 10. Sizing felt great. At amazon's price, I'd say it would be hard to beat the value you get with these boots.

Not much foot support to these boots, they are not so good as the last pair i had.
Not a lot of foot support. only into my second season of fishing and this happens not a good quality wading boot.
