Slow to fill tires but it works.
When I bought this adapter I bought a cheaper adapter to compare. The Topeak adapter was basically a bottle neck so I had to take my time when filling the tires. I also had to wait for the pressure between the pump and tube to even out to get a proper pressure reading. When installing and removing the adapter minimal air leaked out from the tube. The gold adapter is super cheap, had better air flow but leaks a lot of air when installing and removing it.

Brompton Electric necessity!
If you have a Brompton Electric with a Schrader valve, there is not much clearance between the valve stem and the front wheel hub motor. Many track pump heads don't fit, so you have to awkwardly bend the valve stem. Then after you pump to the recommended 100 PSI, pressure is lost when removing the track pump head and you have to repeat the cycle. With this Topeak Pressure-Rite Schrader Valve Adapter, no more awkward valve stem bend and no more lost pressure when removing the pump. I bought 2, one to keep in the on-bike repair kit, and one to stay with the track pump.

before purchasing, be sure you can use it
This review is directed to knuckleheads like myself who know very little about the tires of the cars they drive. In fact, if you are like me, you know equally little about any other parts of your car. My review is intended to caution you not to purchase this product if you are not sure that you need it. If the valve stems on the tires of your car are easily accessible, as is the case with my car, this connector is worse than useless: if you tried to use it, you would just be impeding the process of quickly and efficiently filling up your tires. This Topeak connector appears to be designed exclusively for bicycles and motorcyles. There are certain Amazon reviewers who state without qualification that the benefits of this connector extend to cars. I want to caution you that any such benefits would be limited to those cars whose tires do not have easily accessible valve stems. You may wonder why I purchased this connector in the first place, when I could have readily foreseen its inapplicability to my car. After all, under Product Features the following language appears on Amazon: "Essential for air spring forks and shocks and the hard to reach valves on 12" and 14" wheels." TThe answer is that I made this purchase in the mistaken belief that the Topeak connector had a quick-release pull/push feature on the end that connects to the tire valve stem, rather the typical threading feature, and that this would enable me to expedite the task of connecting and disconnecting my air compressor in successive relation to my four tires. When I made this purchase I did not know, and indeed I still do not know, the difference between an air spring fork and a plate of spaghetti. Nor have I ever, at least until now, seriously considered the size of my wheels (to calculate a tire's unloaded diameter, after all, all you have to do is multiply the tire's width by its aspect ratio to get the height of the tire, then add twice the tire's height to its rim diameter: how could I not have known this all along, indeed since the hour of my birth?). Furthermore, even if I had been carefully reading the Topeak's product features, the word "essential" would not have deterred me from purchasing it: purely as a logical matter, the fact that a product is essential for one purpose does not necessarily render it useless for another. If anyone from Todson, Inc., the company that manufactures this device, happens to be reading this review, I believe you would be doing the public a great service if you were to revise your product's description to make its inapplicability, and not just its applicability, easier to comprehend. The original version of this review was written in August of 2009, 2 and 1/2 years ago. It has since drawn a lot of commentary, some of it favorable, some of it highly critical. Judging by their ire, some of these critical reviewers seem to be on the verge of having an apopleptic, perhaps even apocalyptic, fit. Out of an abundance of concern for their well-being, and last but not least my own, and in all fairness to this Topeak connector, which is well made and which I'm sure can be very useful for its intended purpose, I am hereby revising my intial review. I am also increasing the products's star rating, from two stars to four stars (deducting one star from the maximum rating of five because I believe the product's description needs clarification).

Worked fairly well on my car...
I ordered this at the same time as I ordered my Viair 00073 70P Heavy Duty Portable Compressor ([...]), because the reviews for that pump all mentioned that the included hose had to be screwed onto the tire stem, and I didn't want to have half of the air I just pumped into my tire escape while I tried to disconnect the pump. So once I got my new compressor, I went ahead and tried to use this adapter with it, and got pretty decent results. In case it's not clear from the product description, you start by screwing the small end into your air compressor hose, and then screw the big end onto your tire stem. (You don't have to twist the whole adapter around to screw it onto the tire -- there's a free-rotating cap on the end that does all the twisting). Once you're done filling your tire, you unscrew the big end from the tire stem, and replace the stem cap. As you unscrew the big end from the tire stem, you will hear a small amount of air escaping, but the valve embedded in the adapter keeps this to a minimum. Anyhow, when I tried to use this adapter with my air compressor, I did have some difficulty getting the small end to attach squarely with the air compressor. However, even with the adapter slightly crooked (1-2 threads off), it still did the job with no problems. The adapter attached to my car's tire (a 2006 Honda Civic) without any fuss at all. As one of the previous reviewers mentioned, using this adapter may introduce some inaccuracy into your pump's built-in air gauge, so you may need to check your results with an independent air gauge. (Built-in air gauges usually stink anyways, so this is often a good idea regardless of whether or not you use this adapter.) Long story short, I may try filling my car tires without this adapter next time, and see how it goes. I'm not sorry I bought it, though I would suggest to other prospective buyers that they wait to purchase this product until they know they'll need it. I can definitely see how it would be useful for bike tires and in tight spaces, though, and would recommend it wholeheartedly for that. Very high-quality design/construction, so I give it five stars.

Not for electric pumps
Bought this to use with my electric car pump however whilst it screws on easily and comes off easily without losing pressure, it doesn’t work with an electric with automatic shut off off. It interferes with the pump’s pressure measurement and causes the pump to shut off immediately. This short coming should be stated in the listing.

Works fine.
Works fine. It may not work so well with a hand pump due to the strength of the valve but works fine with a large pump and I’d rather have a decent valve than have it leaking as I take it off.
