Expensive and a luxury purchase, but well-made, convenient, and seems like it'll last
This product excels at exactly what it says on the label: boiling water and keeping it warm. Like other Zojirushi products, it's thoughtfully made, has nice features, is easy to maintain, and carries the Zojirushi price tag. The manual recommends that you boil a full reservoir of water and throw it out upon first use to get rid of that new plastic smell, which you should do. I did notice that when refilling it, it already had a small white film on the inside of the reservoir. I expected that with my water, and I'm planning on descaling the unit per the instructions in the manual. For now, the residue wipes off easily with a damp cloth. Overall, the unit is very quiet, is easy to figure out (in spite of the intimidating manual common to other Zojirushi products), boils water quickly, and maintains temperature exactly the way you tell it to. It doesn't seem to vent excessively when it's boiling, but take care when opening the lid to refill it so you don't get a faceful of steam. So far, I've had no issues with it. I expect I'll need to descale it regularly, and that I'll need to inspect the lid seal (and the inner lid itself) periodically. It seems Zojirushi expects these items to wear out since they offer replacements for both the rubber gasket and entire lid assembly on their website. Hopefully, those won't be needed for a few years. If you regularly need hot water for tea, coffee, noodles, soup, or whatever more than once a day, you'll quickly grow to appreciate the convenience of this thing. Your wallet might not. Other things of note: - The display is definitely not backlit, despite what the marketing material says. It has an orange background, sure, but there's no illumination of the display. And it seems other boiler models have (or had) magnetic power cables. It doesn't seem crucial for an item that sits on the countertop somewhat permanently, but it's a nice convenience. Unfortunately, I imagine it was probably cut from this model as a cost-saving measure... despite the high retail price. - The red floating ball / water level indicator makes it trivial to see how much water is left. - The plug placement where it sticks out an angle from the right side is a little odd, and you might find it difficult to route the cable in a way that doesn't look weird on your countertop. Reviews for other models of water boilers have pointed out the internals of their lids have disintegrated over time, or that the inner reservoir rusted prematurely; if that happens, I'll be sure to update this review, assuming any disintegrated plastic hasn't come for me, first. Overall, this item is definitely a luxury purchase and is a little overpriced, but does its job well, is well-made, and seems like it'll last.

Great Upgrade to Previous Unit
if you're looking for this type of water heater, this is a great upgrade from their older models. We'd had a similar Zojirushi water pot since 2006. The first one died at about 5 years after I submerged it for washing after a nasty ant infestation. Don't get the electronics wet. The second one of the same model just started disintegrating last year, 11 years after purchase. This unit is better in several ways. It is shorter, it releases less steam, it has a floating red ball indicator in the water level view, the color is warmer/darker, and the screen UI is just slightly better. I would have been happy with an identical unit to my original and almost purchased one of the stainless steel ones, but the number of complaints about rust staining made me choose this 2021-2022 new unit that has the coated pot. I do not use non-stick coatings on any cookware that gets over 350F degrees for health and durability reasons -- and this unit should never exceed 250, so I don't expect a problem.

Bought as a gift; they love it.
Bought as a gift upon request. They could not be happier with the warmer. Size and capacity was great. They use for tea preparation, French press and for bottle warming. I only exclamations from its use.

Very convenient and great water boiler and warmer.
This brand is known in Asian communities for making water boilers and heaters and now I know why. Easy to use, low maintenance, and it even plays a song when the water has finished boiling. Easy to read panel and water marker.

One of the best appliances I have ever owned.
This is a replacement for my 14 year old water boiler. I can say that this is a brand that will not let you down. I was able to find a replacement part for my older model and it is working now too. As a tea drinker, having my water, ready to go at a moment's notice is important to me. I love this is no fuss and no muss. I use distilled water and that helps with longevity. Appliances of most kinds are not built to last anymore but this brand is for sure!

Love this thing - get the 5L, you won't regret it.
I had a 3L that finally gave up the ghost. Decided that a 5L would require fewer fill-ups. LOVE this thing. If you're not sure about 3L vs 5L, get the 5L. You won't regret it. I use this thing at least 3x/day, every single day. Be sure to get one that is insulated. My old one had a pump which was handy during power outages. This one doesn't, but I couldn't be happier. A bit spendy, but on a cost-per-use basis, I expect I will get my money's worth out of it. Hope that helps.

Excellent water boiler and warmer!
This water boiler & warmer, I believe, is simply the best on the market. Pricy, but you get what you pay for! Totally worth it and hopefully will serve us for a long time, like its predecessor:).

The plug is no longer magnetic... deal breaker
This newest model is actually a downgrade. The magnetic plug has been replaced with a more standard plug. This is actually a bigger deal than I thought because it makes cleaning the unit periodically a hassle.
