For horses?
When this product came, it shows small animals such as dog and bunny so I was worried it would be too weak. We have a small pasture (500ft) for two performance horses but I didn’t want a huge shock. I had tried a More powerful box and it was wayyy too much. I have three 8ft grounding rods in to 6ft from the other one so I just hooked this box up to that set up. It’s putting out 6000v and I think that’s more than adequate. I am keeping it in a Tupperware next to the fence and so far so good.

Lasted eight months and quit working
No indicator on machine to show its on/off, can barely hear it clicking, if at all. Purchased in September of last year and it just quit. I guess I didn't spend enough money, or it's just cheap Chinese junk. I'll buy American made this time.

Keeps armadillos and raccoons out of my gardens....
I live in a community in the country and have beautiful flower and tree hardscaped gardens. Unfortunately, the wild critters found out there were easy pickings in my soft, well-conditioned soil. Even though I don't have grubs, I do have lots of earthworms keeping the soil aerated and fertilized with their castings, which the critters love! They used to visit every night and leave my gardens looking like a roto-rooter had come through. The day I put this fence 2" above my 8" hardscaped walls that surround my gardens, I never had another critter inside. It's plugged into a smart plug that is scheduled to turn on at dark and off at sunrise. I keep the unit inside a sealed plastic container so it stays dry from the elements. Unfortunately, 16 days after the 1 yr warranty ran out, it stopped working. I immediately ordered another one. I hope I get it up and running again before the critters find out it's down!

Gets the job done
My dog was escaping the yard multiple times a day. I put this on and it worked great. After one or two shocks he got the point. It is not as strong as I expected. I am only using 2 6 foot ground rods, but it pulsates so it only hurts for a split second and then it takes around another second or so for it to shock again. It worked for our dog because it surprises him and he is passive. If you have a high energy bold dog it may not work as well. But I am satisfied. Saved us from having to put in a full privacy fence and spend thousands of dollars. Wish it came with a cover. I am currently using Tupperware to cover it from the elements.

Works great to keep the Raccons out of my bird feeder
This is an unusual way to use the electric fence energizer, but it works great. I have a feeder that I keep shelled sunflower seed in, and because seat is so expensive I did not want the raccoon draining the seedy every night. I tried putting cayenne red pepper with the seed, but the raccoon seem to like that even better. So finally I was left to having to electrify the feeder to keep the raccoons away. My feeder has a metal cage around it, so if I electrified the cage, with the pole connected to the ground, the raccoon would get shocked when it touched the cage, as it had to hold onto the pole to reach the cage. This worked great, as it put out enough voltage to shock the raccoon but not so much that it would kill them, and I really only wanted to spend about $50 on the whole set up. I ran a high voltage (20k volts) shielded wire (don't use regular household wire) under the ground from the energizer to the feeder itself, and then had the pole that the feeder hung from grounded. I used plastic chain to insulate the feeder from the pole. For two nights after the set up we heard the wimper of a raccoon being shocked then there was nothing for two days. Two days later we heard it again, but now they have given up. I can't speak to how many miles of coverage the energizer has, as I only needed it to cover my single birdfeeder, but what an inexpensive and great way to save my sunflower seeds for the birds, without harming the raccoons.

Kept dogs off the fence
Can’t believe we didn’t do this earlier. Our dogs think it’s a fun game to shred the fence trying to get to the dogs on the other side. Once this was installed, it only took 2 tries for them to learn.

Product works
I have a ¼ acre property I believe and ran this wire around my back yard for my dogs. Its on a welded wire fence so the fence acts as a ground wire also. I have tested this product myself twice now(unintentionally) and It works. It definitely gives a good wack and my dogs(german shepherds and Northern breed mixes) no longer mess with the fence.

Lots of power!
I bought this to keep nuisance deer out so I could grow a garden and save my shrubs. It has some power. Instructions and other people suggested three 6 ft ground rods but I can't go that deep because of rocks. I used one 4 ft stainless pipe about 3/4" diameter and got it all the way in the ground and let me tell you it has plenty of shock power. I held the wire with sandals on so the I took one off and touched it again and wow this unit works just fine.

Very effective.
Have used this to protect against rabbits, squirrels, skunks, etc getting into a small vegetable patch. Works like a charm and has been 100% effective in warding off any intrusions. Good product for a reasonable price.

Impressed and I don't impress
What can I say, we have animals and needed something dependable, most especially in bad weather and this did not fail us. Would recommend.

Works well with a 10,000 volt charge
Tested current draw of 1 watt, with 10,000 volt charge using a fence tester. The unit came with a length of cord making a convenient way to plug into a receptacle easily. So far no problems after running continuously for 3 weeks.
