How to keep from fraying
I’m on my 3rd one, and about to buy my fourth one. That’s over a 10 year period. I have 2 dogs, 15 and 20 lbs. they can both be pullers, and one of them goes after loud trucks, so the option to have him on a shorter lead compared to his mellow and friendly brother is a great one for us. My first leash ended up getting chewed up so that the orange tape part of the lead was tearing. Then, the same dog, when excited at the start of our walk would always chew on that part of the lead. So this is what I did: I bought duct tape to match each lead, and cut a length the length of the tape part of the lead, and carefully wrapped it. I would need to repeat this every so often because the dog would still bite and chew on it. At any rate, this really extended the life of this product. So I would recommend doing this even if your dog is not a chewer, in order to add strength to it. The other thing I do is lock the leash with both leads fully extended after walking in rain. This way the entire lead dries out and it’s less likely to rot inside its housing from trapped moisture. OK. That’s all I got. Time to order my 4th Wigzi since the third one has seen better days.

Decent leash, best design for my needs
I’ve got a 17yrs old 13lb dog and a 10mo old 25lb dog. All other double leashes would have the bigger one dragging the smaller one everywhere. This design is perfect for my needs. I can control each separately and they aren’t pulling on each other. The leads are pretty thin, so I wouldn’t use for dogs over roughly 35 lbs. For large and/or evenly matched dogs (like I used to have), go with the double leash where they’re attached to each other and you hook your one leash to the center. That way they are pulling each other and not you. But if your situation is like mine, this is a good option.

On my 3rd leash
I’ll start by saying I just ordered my third leash. I’ll also mention I have a 14 year old 60lb black lab (who doesn’t pull at all) and a 50lb 1 year old Samoyed (who is an absolute lunatic and wants to sprint to greet every dog, human, lizard, squirrel or pretty much any other moving object) we come across. This leash lasts about 6 months of his shenanigans and then gives up on life and begs for a resting place. All that being said, I am purchasing my third one, knowing it’ll only last 6 months of his madness and will happily pay the $35 in another 6 months because every other 2 dog walking option on the market pales in comparison. If your dogs are small, or less psychotic, you will probably be fine.

Great leash but needs a more robust model
Great leash for small dogs. Our golden has broken 3 of these. Need a more robust model for medium to large dogs.

Fantastic with modifications!
I keep telling myself I need to take a picture of me using it, but I am too focused on walking the dogs than trying to take pictures. But this is going to be long because I have a lot to say and your mileage may very! This is an excellent leash when you have two dogs on it, but as soon as I pick one dog up or take them off the lead, I'm almost left wishing I had brought an additional single leash retractor rather than using this with one dog. I am new to having two dogs and holding two leashes looked like too much work and moving hands. Using a single leash with a bungee connector didn't work as my 13lb dog completely overruled my 2.5 dog. But this allows me to hold one retractable leash but control each dog individually. It took only a few walks to memorize which button was for which dog, even when I switch hands. There have been reviews of the lines getting crossed and this does happen. But this is not a "walk two dogs and look at your phone" leash. If I am present and walking my dogs, I work with them to keep it untangled, mostly just putting the leash in the correct direction to allow it to spin. I think, for the price, the quality is excellent, but would I pay more for better quality? However, I think this takes less brain power than two separate leashes, and if they do get tangled, the hardest part is figuring out in which direction, after that, just spin the leash till they are un-twisted. I do get twisted up by the dogs, especially because the smallest likes to run circles with me, but my modifications below with the carabiners help to detangle. I have two dogs, a 13lb MaltiPoo and a 2.5lb Puppy Teacup Poodle. When we first got the leash, the Teacup wasn't strong enough to gain length, and the MaltiPoo (who I had always used looooong leashes) felt it was too short. Firstly, while we felt it was too short, I wouldn't want it to be any longer because the two dogs can get quite far from one another and I don't think I could manage much more distance, so we got used to it. My Teacup has been a struggle in all ways as he is just too small for... well, everything. We found a cat harness that came with a 4' elastic leash, so I took a carabiner and attached the elastic leash to the end of the black cord using the first "loop" of tape and the elastic leash's hand loop. I loved this modification so much that I made the change permanent and actually cut off the tape portion of his side. The addition of the elastic leash and a poo bag holder made it so he could finally pull against the spring. 1 poo from my bigger dog is helpful, a 2nd poo and the spring has trouble retracting, so I think a 4-6 lb dog will have no issues. As for us, my littlest appreciates the extra assistance with the spring. After a few weeks of testing, I copied this set up of carabiner and elastic leash to the other side as my Maltipoo was getting jealous the puppy had more length!. An added benefit of this change was that now I can detach the leash should a dog go around the wrong side of a pole, which was super frustrating because both my dogs are mule headed and don't want to admit they went the wrong way =oP Conclusion: I liked it as sold. I love it with my modifications. If they take my advise to add a little bit of bungie and a quick release, I would pay another $10-$15 for this leash. If they upgraded the spinner between the handle and the leash (maybe a metal track with stricter tolerances) I would pay another $20-$30 for this leash (and then make my bungie and carabiner adjustments). And while not needed, some tactile feedback between the two leash control buttons rather than just colour designation, would be a nice addition. Thank you! Love this leash and wouldn't replace it with anything else but an upgraded version.

I Feel This is Better for Smaller Dogs
I love the way this will detangle itself for the most part. I sometimes had to turn it to make it detangle. I think it depends on the dogs weight. I have a 35 pound Beagle and had a puppy (just as big but not as heavy) on this and it it seemed to go straight with the heavier weight but the puppy went all over tangling it. I did like the locks and colors. Made it easier to decipher who was on which leash. I felt like the retractable string was thin though for my dogs. I would have liked the heavier, bottom portion, to go all the way up. I also would have liked for a longer length as my Beagle likes to track scents. For multiple smaller pets I think this will be awesome but for the ones I have I think different leashes would be better for me.

black string snaps Be warned! Dangerous to dogs
Be warned! Dangerous to dogs.... yes I totally agree with all the reviews that say this item is brilliant I feel sorry for the manufacturer because they are close to having a brilliant item to sell I loved it – however when a lead snaps with the dog potentially getting run over in the road it’s not viable! Do not buy – they need to change the materials they’ve made this from–They’ve used a black nylon string that snaps with very low-level force – I’m lucky it’s snapped quickly so I was able to get a refund – only used it about five times with just medium size dogs – advised not to even consider with shit sues let alone labradors! Dangerous do not buy!

Makes walking the dogs easier
I was skeptical about how this would work....but it does! Yes, it gets a bit twizzled up occasionally but I have three dogs that sniff in every direction and it is far easier to tap the round bit of the lead a couple of times to unwind the two leads, rather than me dancing around and balancing on one leg trying to untangle myself. Some mornings I felt like I could audition for Strictly Come Dancing! I've used it for many months now and there doesn't seem to be any fraying anywhere. I only have three small dogs but they do pull on the leads continuously so it's doing well so far. The length per lead is shorter than a single lead but when you have two dogs, pulling in different directions, the distance is manageable. I always have the same dog on each colour so I don't really think about which button to press (it becomes instinctive) and in an emergency, you can easily push both buttons at once.

Full refund
Only bought this in September for my two Westies one of my dogs pulled I think he saw something across main road and it snapped. Only due to my quick actions managed to grab him before he ran across road.

Broken lead
Hi I bought this lead for my 2 ship tzu, just last year, one is 7kg the other 6 kg, so not a lot of strength on them, the lead has started to fray and one of them has also snapped, I am dissapointed in this as apart from that it is a good product, would be happy if you can look in at this and send a replacement. Thanks

Better than other similar products
We have two small dogs. We have tried two other similar twin leads previously. Neither of them we're as good quality as this one. Both the previous ones were unreliable in use and the clutch mechanism on them was weak and allowed the leads to slip, which is a worry, especially when walking next to a busy road! This one has separate brake mechanisms, which have so far proved to be strong. I am much more confident that it will not let me down as the previous two did! As an owner of two dogs, I would recommend this double dog lead. Update. Have been using this lead for many months now and it is still working well. Very happy.
