Seems like a good purchase
i’ve purchased wen products in past in fact i own wood lathe, scroll saw , drill press , jointer and have been very pleased so far. my expectations are that I’ll have same experience with this mortiser . First thing i noticed is it has some weight to it . Everything was packed good and arrived safe no damage to box with that said there was some kind of damage to motor fin. Deep gouges and chipped paint looks like something was clamped on to it . Not bad enough to consider returning. It needed some minor assembly wasn't difficult it has good instructions. Checked to make sure everything operated correctly the motor had a little metal on metal sound but possibly just needs broke in it ran fine turned on & off several times let motor run for a little bit. Did some test mortises seems to operate as you’d expect. Didn't use on any projects yet so if i run into any issues in future I’ll update review . I did do a little more testing because of reviews i read . I have seen no issues as of yet. so far i am happy with purchase .and lastly i read negative reviews on the bits that was included and on testing they worked fine for me. Good hobby wood working tool .

A good Wen Product, but not for me!
This mortiser is rated 5 watts. At 120 volts that translates to .8 hp! It arrived earlier than projected and as with previous Wen products it was well packaged and it even states team lift due to 65 pounds of cast Iron and a decent motor. Have a couple of Wen products and returned a previous purchase due to belt tracking problems. (although generally good ergonomic designs. Have the Delta Scroll Saw copy which is well made. Mortiser is not for commercial use. Haven't put this machine through hardwood paces but initial impression is a plus for Wen. Probably will not return within 30 days. LOL! ( returned this mortiser due to problems when cutting mortises. As mentioned in another review hard to press down and it stuck in the mortise slot almost requiring a strong uplift.) Pros: Price point for Name Brand. Appears well made and sturdy. Motor runs true and quiet. Cons: As with my Scroll saw, this machine has the cheaper power cord. Disappointing as Harbor Freight has upped itts game on Bauer tools. At this juncture would probably buy again....We'll see? ( dissapointed)

It works!
While I'm in no position to compare this with other mortising machines -- this is the first I've owned -- I can nonetheless report that I'm extremely happy with this Wen mortiser after using it several times. It's rugged; it's plenty powerful; and it's accurate. The mortiser arrived well packaged in an undamaged box. Setup was straightforward with no missing or damaged parts ... though I did it helpful that I had already watched several Youtube videos on setting up and dialing in mortising machines. Once the machine was set up, I practiced for a while using pine and then oak. And then I put the machine to work, cutting a series of through mortises into 2 x 2 quartersawn red oak legs for a piece of mission I' building. They came out crisp and accurate. A couple of observations: First, you'll want to take your time cutting mortises through thick hardwood. Second, you'll want to bolt this machine down to a work bench; pulling on that lever requires a fair amount of force and you don't want one of these heavy machines sliding toward you as you pull! Finally, while the hold down works as its supposed to, you'll also want to use a pair of c-clamps to hold your stock hard and secure against the fence. So time will tell as to this mortiser's durabiity ... and I suspect I will be ordering a new set of drill bits as the supplied ones probably aren't of the highest quality. But given the price of other mortisers -- and given that this one works as intended -- I'm very happy with this purchase.

Arrived Damaged
Delivery box was perfect, after removing mortise machine I noticed the fan cap on top of the motor was dented to the point the motor wouldn't turn. Removed cap to straighten it out and found one mount broken off of motor itself. Very evident it was packed this way since there was no external damage on the packing. The machine itself works like I expected but for a seller to peddle hidden damage is ridiculous. The package had been opened and retaped at some point prior to shipping. Wish I would have bought one locally now, you can inspect it before you pay a lot of money so you don't get screwed.

Makes a great boat anchor
Don't bother with this hunk of junk. They say you get what you paid for, well I overpaid! This thing is worth $35 at most. It was missing pieces right out of the box. I was able to assemble it using spare bolts I had already. Take the chisels that came along with it and throw them right in the trash. After I assembled this thing I tried each chisel in a piece of pine. it was able to make a mortise but I had to stop the machine and remove clogs several times and I was going very slow, you couldn't just bear down and force this through if you wanted to. Just to try it out, I switched to a piece of maple. it could barely handle that. The depth stop is a plastic piece of junk that doesn't work. I set it and tried it on the pine and each hole was progressively deeper. The hold down on the front is also worthless, you can't tighten it enough to hold your workpiece down, I am far from a production woodworker, more of a hobbyist and this isn't even worth going in a hobbyist shop, save your money for a better one. I should have!

Came with a large dent, hopefully still working.
Nope, it did not work when I got it all together. Just hummed and nothing else. Not sure how I am going to return this thing, have to take it all apart, try to get it back in a box and request a new one. This will delay a project that I bought it for, not a happy camper.

Looks like a super tool to won.
I won’t WEN drill press and power planer. I am exceedingly happy with those purchases. I’ve been doing mortises with a multi-tool. Would love to own WEN Benchtop Mortise Machine! I have no doubts about the quality and use-ability of any WEN Product.

Piezas de baja resistencia
El tornillo opresor se degolla por la fuerza que se requiere para hacer las mortajas también, por la forma en la que viene el engrane en dónde se coloca el opresor se quebró dos dientes .
