Griddle works great
This griddle works great. It's built very well, has a nice 3/8" thick cooking surface and heats fairly evenly. As others have mentioned, the edges of the griddle will be cooler than the center. It comes up to temp in a reasonable amount of time, but don't expect to be using it in a few minutes after turning it on. It has to heat that 3/8" plate which does take a while. Holds temps good and cooks very nicely. I've made all sorts of things on it thus far and everything has came out great. We've done everything from cooking tortillas, to full breakfasts to "Smashburgers" with that lovely golden brown crust on it from a little butter. This is as close as you can get to true commercial griddle cooking on your counter. There are some other units available out there but they are not quite as nice as the Waring, though cheaper. I went with this model because it looks a bit nicer, has handles on the size and I liked the drip tray configuration better. I use Phase Butter Alternative cooking oil from Amazon and it works great. You will want your assortment of scrapers, spatulas/turners, a cooking dome, squirt bottles, oil and a griddle cleaner. I recommend that you have screens and Scotchbrite pads to keep the griddle surface looking nice. Nothing seems to stick and I wipe it down with a little oil after cleaning. The only thing I don't like is there is no off button. So you have to unplug it to kill the power to the unit, otherwise the POWER and READY lights remain on. I'm not sure if it is warming at that point or not since there is no OFF position on the dial, only MIN with a detent when going into that position. This cooks better than my Blackstone 36" outdoor griddle, mainly because you can control the temperature better and the thicker cooking surface helps maintain consistent heat into the items you're cooking. I had a party right after pulling this out of the box and numerous people were drooling over this thing! It is small, so don't expect to cook for an army. However for a small family or individual items, it's a great size. I'm 100% satisfied.

Great Investment!! You love home cooking this is worth your money
The media could not be loaded. Excellent product!! so far had it for about 1 week now it reminds me of my first job as a teenager at Wendy’s as a grill cook lol ???? but it’s a bit small that’s what I expected for home use that’s why I gave it a 5 star pulls a lot of power out of the outlets so I recommend plugging directly into wall circuit no extension cords because it tripped my breaker doing that due to the necessary power needed to run the unit I’d recommend this for small gatherings excellent!!! for breakfast items and grilled gourmets overall I’d give it a 10 if it where slightly bigger but for commercial built product you pay for what you get this one is a good investment if you love cooking and have that Restaurant feel in you. I highly recommend purchasing through Amazon the boxing and packing is %100 better than ordering through the Manufactory from my experience I work at UPS and Amazon so I know how we handle packages and what they go through between shipping and traveling they go through a lot so Amazon logistics make sure sellers have the best boxing packing and labeling

Buy it.
I tried two other griddles first, a Yescom and a Vevor. I really tried to make them work. But the temperature fluctuations were making my burgers inconsistent. This Waring griddle is fantastic.

Perfect for pretending you have a restaurant at home
Seriously the best investment I've ever made for my home kitchen. I'll never willingly go back to non commercial griddles. I feel like a line cook when I operate it. So bad ass. I also upgraded my microwave to commercial as well. I recommend that too for any serious home cooks. Either way I love this griddle so much I just had to give it all 5 stars.

Great buy
Works perfectly. New version has an on off switch. I still unplug it when not in use. The temperature control is effective allowing you to control how fast things cook. Seasoning was really simple especially if you have correctly seasoned a Blackstone before. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a serious griddle. I bet your thinking it’s on the expensive side. But it will last and the heating area is even unlike the non stick griddles found in most homes.

Love it. Transported me back to my childhood.
I grew up in New Jersey, and you couldn't throw a spitball without hitting a diner. Authentic greasy spoon fare was hard enough to come by here before the pandemic hit, now it's impossible. Yeah, it weighs close to 50 lbs. That's where the downsides for home use end. It heats up fast, is easy to clean, and stainless steel + a commercial heating element will probably outlive me. The consumer models advertising "non-stick" actually perform worse in terms of sticking and last 5 years max. How'd that for built-in obsolescence?

This thing is a tank
Love this griddle, it’s a workhorse. I run this griddle for 4-8 hours a day, 5 days a week, never any issues.

The Real Deal
This is a good appliance. You can toss your food around with delight. Six hamburgers, salmon steaks, fried onions, or a pile of zucchini. As others have commented, the surface temperature is not even....just like a pan or an oven. This is normal and useful. I suggest you buy an infrared thermometer and get to know your pans, pots, and ovens. (You can buy a IF thermometer for $35 at Harbor Freight; $25 with coupon). The Waring is heavy duty but I use it in my home kitchen...often. It sits on the same counter as a two-burner Waring electric and a six-burner gas Viking. When I entertain, I have them all going. The WGR-140 has no off switch (it should) so I have it attached to a power strip and use that switch. (It draws 1850 watts so the strip needs to accommodate that.) I may wire an off switch to the Waring if I get it into the shop. I have tried to use *many* different types of stove-top griddles but this is the real deal. Bon appetit. ~gjl.
