GLD Dartboard Mounted Light... should have bought one long ago!

Bottom line: Great value, easy install, lights up the board. 5-Stars, wish I'd found this a long time ago. See attached pictures... Different reviews mention the installation hardware...mine came with four small wood screws (stored inside the left battery compartment) but I replaced them with #6 1/2" wood screws - they fit the hinge perfectly and secure to the wood without going all the way through. Power supply comes with an 8 foot cord - plenty of cord to hide along the edges of the cabinet to reach my closest outlet. VERY easy install. I mean really, it took less than five minutes to unpack it, grab a drill (driver bit and a small bit to predrill the holes) and a stool, and mount the unit to my cabinet. I think it took longer to uncoil the power cord... Fit is very solid to the cabinet - no play or shifting when folding down or up. And.. yes, it folds up over the top of the cabinet and completely out of the way from the doors when they close. Picture shows one door closed...you can't see the light fixture behind it. On-Off switch is located below the center light fixture. Why is this important? Means it's easy to access, I can "permanently" install the power cord, and not have to worry about plugging in / unplugging when ever the board is use. Overall... lights could be a bit brighter but that's not enough to knock of a star... did I mention they also swivel just enough to adjust the lighting on your board? Nice touch... 5 stars for me, wish I'd found this a long time ago.

Light Works Well, Installation Instructions were Non-Existent, Read On . . .

I purchased the Viper Shadow Buster Dartboard Cabinet Mounted Display Light to go with my Viper 850 Dartboard (Also Reviewed on Amazon). My garage, where the dartboard is located, just doesn’t have enough lights in it for night time darts. We could play, but it was a bit hard to see. During the day, when the sun is out, I can open the garage doors and see well enough, but at night, that just wasn’t the case. So, I decided to purchase this light to try and fix that problem. As you can see from the pictures that I posted with this review, the lights do a pretty good job of illuminating the board. However, getting them positioned right, was not so easy. Let me explain . . . The lights are meant to be mounted on a pre-existing cabinet, based on the name of the product. However, no instructions are included with how to mount the light (to a cabinet or anything else, for that matter). In fact, not even some screws were included with the light that came with the order. Thankfully, there was a power adapter, which alleviated the need for batteries, but seriously, no screws? Granted, we’re just talking about 4 screws, that were needed, but still, it would have been nice to have some sort of guidance telling me how high and how far from the wall the lights needed to be in order to be effective for illuminated the dart board. Anyway, I decided to get an 8’ piece of 2x2 lumber from the local hardware store and had them cut 18” off the end for me. I bought some “L” brackets and some screws to mount it on the wall and mount the light to the 2x2. I then painted it black to match the wall of the garage and then mounted the light to the wood. Then I turned it on AND IT WASN’T FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM THE WALL! So, more than half of my bullseye was in a shadow that made it really hard to see. Granted, I could have plugged the light in and then held it over the board first to see where/how far from the wall it needed to be, but again, some instructions would have been really useful about now. So, I have a chop saw of my own, and I used it to cut off another 18” of the 2x2 and then I screwed one 2x2 into the other 2x2, painted it, and then re-mounted the light to it, which now put it 4” from the wall. As you can see, the light is about 3” above the dart board and is 4” from the wall, which provides enough light to make the light useful and make it possible to play darts with that light and that light alone, if desired. To that end, once the light was mounted properly, it works quite well and I’m happy with it. I just wish the process for getting it mounted had been less painful, which starts with having better instructions (READ: ANY Instructions) provided from the manufacture for mounting. I give the product 5 stars, but the lack of instructions and screws 1 star, which averages out to 3/5 stars for this product. So, knowing that, I hope you find this review helpful and that it allows you to make a more informed buying decision. The Light does work, but you just have to be prepared for doing what it takes to get it mounted over your dart board. Best of luck! NOTE: If I had to do it over again, I would still buy this light, BUT knowing what I know now, I would have bought a 1x4 or 1x6 instead of 2x2.

Love it

We are big dart players. We play at our camp with our friends all season and we play off season with same friends. One of our friends got one of these for his house. So we had to. Makes it so much easier to know where to stand. So easy to install and easy to use. The price is perfect.

Great lights! (Yes the screws are included)

These lights are great. Also seen in the pictures are the Laser Dart Lines from Viper. For all those reviews that say the screws weren't included, they are. The screws are packaged in the battery compartment. I guess people won't look there if they weren't putting in batteries. These lights work perfectly on a dartboard enclosure. They flip up and out of the way when not in use. If you need more light on you board, this is it.

Good for the price

The price was the main reason I purchased this light. It has turned out to be adequate for lighting my dart board, almost eliminating shadows. My dart buddy has a LED light that goes all around the board and is hidden inside the cabinet and eliminates all shadows, but then he paid much more.

Great light for dartboard

I love this light. It works great to light up the dartboard. Only issue is the size of the screws, they are very small. I like the fact that you can plug in or use with batteries, great pass time if the power is out. Good value for the $

Not bright enough!’

Light is very nice but the lights are not bright enough to lite the whole board....... would pursue another option! ????????

Le fil d'extension n'est pas long.

Très bon produit, par contre le fil d'alimentation aurait pu être plus long. Dois prendre une extension.
