Brand:VAYYAR

1.6/5

(Attualmente solo Stati Uniti).

Working now. Make sure you do test falls.
I was an early adopter and it did not work initially. I consider myself very tech-savvy. Our home is Alexa-enabled, with 11 Echos and 43 devices (lights switches, bulbs, plugs, shades, thermostats, etc). We have an Alexa-enabled apartment in Assisted Living for our 95 year old mother in a different city, who uses it for lights and have direct Echo Show video conferences with us. I installed this Vayyar Care device earlier in the year and, much to my chagrin, she had a fall in her room last month that was monitored by the device and it did not work! She had hit her head, but it was possible that she got up again before the allotted time to trigger the device. Luckily, she was wearing a different pendant provided by the facility to call for help. If she were unconscious, it might have been devastating. I traveled to her city to troubleshoot the device. All indications on Alexa App show it was connected and the device was recognized. I tried simulating falls and it did not trigger. It was during a weekend and tech support via email was unresponsive. Traveled home after an unsuccessful effort. Tech support finally reached me after I returned home, and we began the troubleshooting process. I had worked with customer support when I initially installed the product because the instructions on coding room dimensions were confusing. It led to miscoding the room dimensions which led to my targeted area being a blind spot. We made the correction and had a relative perform some test falls; the unit is now working. At the time of my installation, we had to wait a period of time before performing a fall test to confirm the unit was online. Since I was travelling to do the installation, I could not perform the test. If you use this product, make sure you do test falls to confirm the unit is working properly.

Who knows if it works... Terrible to set up! Junk!
I can't tell you if it works or doesn't, as I can't get it set up! I'm pretty tech savvy, and have 8 Echo devices and numerous devices connected to my EchoSphere. So, I thought, this will be easy. No, it isn't! First you have to subscribe to Alexa Together. The person you are trying to monitor must also have an Amazon account, so if they don't you have to make one for them. With the attendant One Time Passwords being sent to the other person's phone and email accounts. Older folks might find this confusing, or not have a phone which is smart... So, prepare to be there with them to sort that out. Then, once you have established their account you need to go back to Amazon to activate the Alexa Together subscription. Then the fun begins... You have to download the Vayyar app, easy. Then you following the instruction for mounting the unit on the wall, carefully measuring the room size, and the midpoint location of one of the walls. In my case the room was 12' x 12' so it was okay, as the unit will monitor a 13'x13' room. Then you peel off the backing tape of the "worlds crappiest" Velcro, and watch out, as it will peel off the Velcro backing before it peels off the two sided tape. Really... For the cost of this, put decent two sided tape on it! Then you mount it to the wall, and pray that you have an outlet that is within 4'4" of the device (counting the height!!), so it better be right above an outlet, or you'll be hunting for an extension cord (which is in the boxes of Christmas decorations if you're wondering!). So, you have it mounted, now follow the onscreen instructions to connect the blue tooth to your phone, and the wifi to the device. Now, I have an Eero Mesh Network set up in my house (SO easy to set up and works great by the way), so you'd think it would be easy to connect... Nope, it took the device several attempts for it to find my network (even though I had full reception on my phone only two feet away!). Eventually it connect to the network, and my phone. Then it tells you to connect the device to your Alexa device... And that is where it got stuck. No matter how I tried (opening up Alexa, searching for devices) it wouldn't show up in my devices, or when I tried to "Add a device". This thing was totally undetectable! So, I'm going to try to call their customer service and see if I can get help. But I wanted the Amazon customers to know... Hold off on buying one of these P.O.S., because even the set up is NOT customer friendly or intuitive. Oh, and yes, I tried YouTube to see if anyone else had gone through this and solved it... Nope! Only their crappy video which only covers Android devices! Don't they know how prevalent iPhones are here in the US??? So, IF I get this solved I'll update and let you know. But from my perspective, this thing is NOT ready for prime time! Oh, and the device feels flimsy and super cheap, along with the dumb Velcro and double sided tape.

Requires Echo device to work
We have a first generation Vayyar fall detection device which is standalone. Did not realize this unit doesn't work on its own. Requires an Echo device, I guess to function as the speaker/microphone.

Do not but this product
Do not but this product. I get more false alarms from it. Goes off as a fall even when someone walks passed it. Get so many alarms that if a fall were to happen you will just think it's another false alarm. If I could return I would immediately

It really works!
Started out with the first generation model. Now we have two of the second generation and two still of the first generation. They work great. We may get a false warning once in a blue moon but rather have that than no warning. Mother-in-law is 101 years old and we worry constantly but feel much safer with Vayyar. Believe me, they’ll get up in the middle of the night with no pending on or watch to use the bathroom. Plus their skin is very prone to abrasions from watchbands and pendants hanging. We did buy ours before they were available on Amazon but it is directly through the company
