Great book, not ideal shipping
Great book but it arrived with dinged corners and slightly scuffed covers. I wish it had been sold and shipped with a plastic cover, at least.

Why the hate???
I was very hesitant of purchasing this book because of all the negative reviews from the OG hardcore players but was pleasantly surprised. I think the main hate derived from accepting there is a new antagonist in the VTM universe that are rising through the ranks and taking all the attention away from other clans that normally got to play the villain roles - but the way the book describes the sabbat is as the new top dogs that are feared by all clans, it explicitly states the role of the sabbat are to be antagonists that basically act as a wrench in a cog to add a lot of conflict to the story. The sabbat are a huge threat to the masquerade and now having a official manual that details who they follow, their religions and convictions and also thought processes it is so easy to homebrew a campaign that constantly has sect conflict with the sabbat and it makes for interesting moments. The sabbat are here to stay and it is something we must accept and this book gives excellent insight on why they are valid and if you just give em a chance you will see how darn cool conflict is with them - there are some premade villains in the book that are on a whole nother level of evil. The book is a overall must have for your collection because 1 it completes the collection and 2 literally everything I said. My absolute favorite thing is the artwork, its unique and its the best I have seen compared to all other books - it has a very realistic paint style of ominous scenes and characters. My ONLY complaint is the shipping. I had to get it shipped from USA NJ to my home town Richards Bay in South Africa which is a long journey and the people who packed it just put it in a paper sleeve so there was a tiny bit of damage on the front cover - nothing too bad, just 2 little cuts on the spine. Overall 10/10, props to the writers, artists and publishers for this masterpiece.

Updating and revising
Being the first Vampire supplement to be released by Renegade Studios, I note that there is some adjustment in the physical design of the book from previous releases, with the case being slightly bigger than other books in the series. Whether this is a big issue is up to the individual, but I hope that this remains consistent from now on, as it sticks out a little on the shelf. There has been some controversy in the development of the Sabbat in this edition, primarily over the decision to make them an antagonist-only group. This is in contrast to previous editions - mainly the Revised (3rd) and 20th Anniversary (4th) editions - where they were playable group. Personally, I welcome this return. While a creative group could technically take the various Paths and Disciplines outlined in this book to make Sabbat characters still, the broader game has already worked to adapt the most associated Clans (Lasombra and Tzimisce) to be playable elsewhere and adjusted the scope of Humanity to incorporate different paths in standard play. What is left is a truly horrific and inhuman group of death cultists, that is best used in a narrative sense as boogymen to scare even other vampires (including your own players). It is nicely laid out and presented, although a little short on detail. I would have liked to see some sort of mini-Chronicle where they could have been put to use as antagonists, which would have probably been a better way of illustrating how the information inside could be used.

An Antagonist book for Storytellers (not players) for V5
This is important to know before buying this book. The Sabbat in V5 are not playable characters; they are meant to be the narrative vehicle of the storyteller (GM). It does provide fairly concise information on the Sabbat as is relevant to the advanced meta-plot of V5. I do see many fans feeling disgruntled about the decision to make them storyteller player characters, but I do feel that the Sabbat of the modern nights would not be playable. As with all of the V5 products this book is evocatively illustrated in the hyper-photo-realistic art of the new edition; written by non-other than Justin Achilli, who is one of the best writers for World of Darkness and Vampire the Masquerade. The book has sections describing each of the clans in the scope of the Sabbat Gehenna War; including new Sabbat discipline powers and blood sorcery rituals; even a few Thin-blood alchemy powers. Additionally, the book delves into the surviving Paths of Enlightenment of the Sabbat and even covers some of the defunct ones. Overall, this book is an excellent resource for Storytellers (GM) in introducing the Sabbat as one of the premiere antagonists factions in the World of Darkness.

Removed from game as P.C.'s
Honestly well written and thought out concepts, even though many conflict with the original concepts of the past Sabbat, I will give this "Merit lore" an decent pass for the noted effort you can feel coming from this book. However, it is just that, "Merit lore". Removing The Sabbat as a playable sect confirmed the worst fears for many. That WoD (this version) has been touched by the pink hair side head shaved woke culture and as such its quality has suffered. We can only hope and pray to cain that once this system settles we can have bonafied reprints of the older versions. It gets 2 stars because some one put effort into this "merit lore" but it falls off the cliff.

The new face of the Sabbat
First of all, the book's goal is to create antagonist NPCs, but it doesn't forbid you to use its lore with some creativity and do your own PCs, based on official lore. Lore here is vague, such as the other V5 Sect books, perhaps more, but there are nice hooks and ideas to use. The art is very beautiful, the print quality is excellent. Content wise, it's thinner than other supplements for V5, but it adds some very interesting disciplines, and also the official paths of enlightenment. Worth the price for the physical copy, I recommend having it instead of the pdf. Overall, though many older players expected more, it's a nice book, on its own. If you're collecting V5 books, this is an important item for your collection, to buy without regrets. Delivered very fast to Brazil as well, way before scheduled, and in a very safe box.

Good for New Storytellers, Useless for anyone who played earlier editions.
Let's get this out of the way. This is not The Sword of Caine you might remember from previous editions. In fact, this books is useless to players of the game, only serving as Storyteller antagonist fodder. The amounts of retcons, simplifications, contradictions in this books is staggering. One page, the book will claim that the Sabbat claim no domain, then in the same paragraph explain how they sometimes do fall back on "conquered" cities. It'll claim that Clan doesn't matter, when historically Clans do matter. A lot! Chicago by Night is about a Sabbat cornerstone, the Lasombra, defecting. How can they not see clan? I don't even know why they bothered putting "Paths of Elightenment" here. As written, the Sabbat are murderous, borderline wights that will kill you and your coterie at first sight. And what little fluff exists about "infiltrating, seducing and corrupting" Cam or Anarch domains is worthless since even if you entice players to enter the Sect, guess what? There are no player mechanics! This is easily the worst v5 book I have read, and I actually thought the line had promise.

Embalagem ruim

Book content 5 stars. Book Condition 3 stars.
Book was very lightly damaged upon arrival, but the packaging was immaculate. I'm guessing this means they packed and sold a damaged book but whatever. Contents and quality of product are top notch, only scraping off that 5th star since my copy arrived slightly dented and torn
