They work, so just buy the big container!

I didn't want to shell out for the $20 canister without trying the product, so I bought this little box of 3 packets/uses. They work great. I just bought the big container and realized how silly it was to pay 10X more for this little box. Just buy the big container and you'll be happy.

Works

My coffee bean grinder (burr grinder) suddenly seized up a few weeks ago while grinding espresso beans, the burrs were totally clogged with beans. After doing a decent cleanup job the burrs were still not looking particularly clean, so I decided to try these cleansing tablets. I was a little doubtful about the manufacturer's claims about the product, but was pleasantly surprised by the excellent results after running the tablets through my grinder -- the grinding blades practically sparkled. I highly recommend this product, despite the rather high cost. I suspect that I won't need to do this very often, so I feel it's definitely a worthwhile purchase.

Didn't work for us

We didn't realize we should use a product like this until our grinder stopped processing beans. We used all of the packets in here after taking it apart and hand cleaning everything with soap and water. It didn't work. Also a ridiculous price for what it is.

Not a substitute for proper cleaning but an add on to it

As stated in title, if you just shoot this thru you’ll complain that there’s still old grinds in your machine. Instead brush and/or vac out like normal and then run this (I use a 1/2 dose). Does a fine job soaking up oils and finishing things off. Makes a bigger difference after oily beans - otherwise perhaps not with it.

Cleaning a Cuisinart Burr Coffee Grinder

I've had a Cuisinart burr coffee grinder for years and occasionally I'd attempt to clean by wiping out the interior of the hopper thoroughly with a damp paper towel to remove coffee oil, using a toothbrush to dislodge any loose particles in the burr and then using a vacuum or compressed air (as you'd clean a computer keyboard with) dislodge anything remaining...finally after several year I tried grinding some rice in it to remove the lingering taste after grinding flavored coffee. Turns out these Grindz tablets are a much faster solution less dusty solution than ride to get rid of flavored coffee residue but they won't substitute for cleaning the hopper or accumulated coffee oils. According to coffee mavens one of the recommendations when changing from one coffee to another in a burr grinder is to run a small amount of beans through to remove the residue of the earlier blend. Apparently all this fiddling works well as I've had my Cuisinart Burr Coffee Grinder for 15 years without a problem...I generally vary the grind between medium and fine (I'm guessing but I think coarse grinding may contribute to things being stuck) as well as the amount of coffee I'm grinding generally between 4 and 6-8 cups. All of that said, I was happy with the ease of cleaning with the Grindz Tablets and took an equal amount of beans to run through afterwards which seem to take care of any residual taste. I have read that regular use of grinder cleaning pellets might result in more dust in the long term and therefore a great dependency on grinder cleaning tablets...but so far the jury is out for me. In the meantime...I'll stick with a damp paper towel to remove coffee oil from the hopper and an occasional brushing and once over with a hand vacuum...grinding a few beans to toss when I change types of beans. Since that's worked for 15 years without Grindz tablets I'm saving the remaining 2 packets for times when I throw caution to the winds and grind a flavored coffee that lingers on and on in which case this seems like a fairly simple solution.

Worked great on my Baratza

I have not cleaned my Baratza Encore since I bought it three years ago. I ground the Grindz tablets as instructed, poured the resulting sandlike grains away, then ground a measureful of beans just to wipe away any tablet remains, and then threw that away. Next morning, when I made my usual cup of Verve coffee, it tasted wonderful.

The Grindz are a godsend. The difference in the taste and quality of our coffee after using it in our burr grinder is notable. We highly recommend!

Poor value at side of rice.

Gave these a go as there's an appeal to a purpose made product but having tried them I'll be going back to rice grains as an eaqually effective cleaner. Leave a lot of dusty residue in the grinder and still need to purge and vac the workings of the grinder. To be fair, no claims to negate this.

Useless - don't waste your time or money

3 people were served 2 coffees made identically before and after using one bag of cleaning beans: no difference was noted. Then, the final two bags were run through TWICE and an identical amount of coffee beans and water were made to international standards in the same, though cleaned French press - NO DIFFERENCE!
