Works as advertised

It was easier to attach to my Ford Escape than I expected. I did have to hook the lower strap under the bumper so when on, I cannot open the lift gate. However that is a minor inconvenience.

This worked for my 2017 Kia soul

I've read several reviews stating the bottom strap hooks comes off. I'm a firm believer that these people are not tightening the straps enough. If you have a hatchback SUV, the top straps should be on the top middle section of the vehicle, the side straps are placed at an angle on the side of your SUV door and the bottom straps goes under the door. I don't like the harness pads resting on the glass so I move it halfway down right below the door glass. Next, I tighten the top straps. Afterwards, tighten the bottom straps. Lastly, tighten the bottom straps. When the straps are tightened.. pluck them like a guitar. If you don't hear a little twang or ping.... It's not tight enough. After I tightened all of my straps, I opened up the hatchback two or three times and the bottom strap did not come off. This thing is functional and works great. Don't forget about the red strap used to hold the bikes to the harness...to restrict bike movement. You'll have to use a little elbow grease and tighten the straps. If you cannot tighten them...get someone who can. This is a fully functional bike strap and harness. I would rate this a 4.5.. because of needing the strength to tighten the straps. I purchased the two bike capacity harness. However, I have an e-bike and it is very heavy and weighs 61 pounds. (if you can remove the battery.. I advise you do so, since the two harness limit is 66 lbs). I'm very happy with my purchase. My bike did not move.....to and from my destination.. 10 mi away.

It got the job done.

I needed to transport 2 bikes from Texas to Florida. It got the job done. However, the straps and strap locks are flimsy and stretch and slip throughout the trip.

Missing Tire Strap

Great rack. However, the tire strap was missing. I had to go buy one myself since I live at an FPO.

Chevy Volt Fit

In order to get this rack to work on my 2018 Chevy Volt that has a very LONG hatch, I had to buy additional straps to extend the top straps. Also I’m a 68 year old woman and it took me awhile to get the rack tight enough so straps don’t come off over bumps and rough roads. This rack is very nice and once you spend some time with it, it works very well.

Has some major flaws

This bike rack it's easy to set up and install, however once I mounted my bike on it, it didn't feel safe or sturdy. My primary concern with it is that the straps that hold majority of the bike's weight are supported by the small metal clips with only tiny springs inside. They function as quick open-close system to release the straps for easy and quick installation which makes sense. However there is no additional tightener or closure to secure the straps in case the springs give out which can happen with heavy bikes. If this was to happen, the straps would just slide out and the the rack with the bike would fall off the car. I think this is a major safety and design flaw. As a result I ended up buying some plastic "tighteners" to add to the straps (pic attached). It was very easy to add right above the metal clips, and I definitely felt much better having this in addition to the metal clips. Not sure why the manufacturer didn't provide something similar, it's just common sense to me. I like the rack design and it actually looks better than the most single bike racks I saw out there, but I still think that manufacturer should fix/improve this and create a safer and a more secure brackets for the straps. My bike weights 40 pounds and I'm hesitant to carry it on this bike rack. Freeway is off limits for sure. Funny thing is that there is all this sturdy heavy duty rubber on the handles (not sure what for) as if one is going to carry a bike with hands for hours, while on the other hand the safety/durability of the wimpy strap clips is highly questionable. One other reason I decided to buy this rack is for having a rubber protectors on the strap hooks that were supposed to protect the car paint. I have to say that these are pretty useless with my car.They are super thick and I couldn't slide the hooks with rubbers on them into the thin opening on top of the car, so instead I had to hook them up to the bottom of the car. I had to insulate the top hooks with some tape in order to protect the car paint. Again this is my own modification that will serve the purpose only for a short term and short rides. Since there is no paint to protect underneath of the car, the rubber protectors ended up being completely useless. Also the entire rubber coating is on the outside of the hooks and not inside where the paint rubbing and damage is most likely to occur. There are two rubber "dots" inside the hooks which are supposed to do the "protecting" job. I wouldn't trust this to do any damage protection. Overall, I don't use the rack daily so I can live with some of these issues, however if I was to use it daily I wouldn't like it. I just don't think that customers should buy a product and then have to look for a ways to make it better and/or safer. It should meet these criteria and expectations right out the box.

Gets the job done.

My 14 yr old son was able to install this pretty easily and also straps the bikes on for me. The bikes seem sturdy while driving. We haven’t tried using it to haul 3 bikes at a time yet, only two, but I’m not sure if 3 will be able to fit. Maybe it’s the style of the two bikes we already have, but it seems like a third just won’t fit well. One negative is that the bottom clips on the bottom straps come loose all the time, no matter how much we tighten them.

Relatively easy to install. Sturdy frame. Make sure to respect the bike weight limits.

I used this with the scratch protectors. It worked great. Carried two bikes with no problem.
