No Complaints
Nice addition for my portable grill. Well constructed and does what it is supposed to do. Happy with the purchase.

Small adjustment needed
Needed adjustments, nothing a bit of glue couldn't solve, luckily the clear plastic cover wasn't glued so could be removed to glue the gauge card in the correct placement. CON: not very sturdy to be tossed in a bag without extra protection. At $10.00 its not a bad deal.

Determines propane remaining by weight
Best and easiest way to determine quantity of remaining liquid propane in a tank.

Eazy peazy
I like that I can do this right beside the bbq outside. Don't have to take tank inside to use the bathroom scale and subtract the tare wt. I will run this current tank empty so I can see how far down the "E" scale it is to the actual EMPTY. Seems to be a wide area in the lowest range. This may be to account for varying weights of tanks by different manufacturers.

Good for general indication
For grilling burgers, dogs, or steaks with short grill times and if the tank can be easily weighed without disconnecting, then this Cuisinart tank gauge works fine, it is fairly rugged and is inexpensive. Many grills have built-in gauges but if your grill doesn't then disconnecting a propane tank from a grill to check how much propane is left is awkward. If this is your situation then an in-line gauge may serve you better. As a homebrewer of beer, I have a loose tank I use to heat and boil 5+ gallons which uses a lot of propane. I want to know how much propane is in the tank before I connect it to a burner and start the brewing process. This Cuisinart gauge provides a general indication and I found it tends to slightly underestimate the amount in the tank. I've switched to a Luxbell digital luggage scale which is only a couple of dollars more but is a lot more accurate and just as easy to use.

Very sturdy & easy to install. It's wonderful to know how full tank is.
I was uneasy not knowing how much propane was left in my tank, and I didn't want to mess with all the mathematical or weighing issues. This gauge is very sturdy and was super easy to install. The readout is very easy to read, with clear green (full), yellow (getting low) and red (time to replace/refill) zones. I'll know when to switch out the tank without running out or leaving too much behind that I paid for!

Handy Gauge - Not Perfect
When looking for a propane tank fuel gauge you need to first decide which type you need. If you have just one or two propane tanks that you normally leave attached to whatever you are using (gas grill, etc.) until it runs empty, then an inline pressure gauge will be more practical. You can buy a propane tank pressure gauge to add to an existing propane tank or you can buy propane tanks with a gauge already installed. Just remember if you get a tank with a built in gauge you will have to get the tanks filled instead of exchanging them. When I say an inline gauge is more practical in the example above it is because with the Cuisinart CTG-120 Lift & Look Propane Tank Gauge you have to decouple the propane tank from the source and then lift the tank using the Cuisinart gauge so that it can get an accurate weight measurement. (More below about this.) Now if you have one or more propane tanks that you regularly unhook from the source for moving, storage, etc., then a fuel gauge like this Cuisinart CTG-120 Lift & Look Propane Tank Gauge may be the better solution. With the tank already unhooked from the source you simply lift the tank off the ground and the Cuisinart propane gauge shows you approximately how full the tank is. I'll explain how this works next. Firstly the Cuisinart Lift & Look Propane Tank Gauge is merely a spring scale, very similar to a fish spring scale. But instead of showing you weight in pounds it has a graph on the gauge with 5 main sections that range from Empty to Full. Math Time! ???? An average empty 20-pound propane fuel tank weighs roughly 17 pounds. Propane tanks have the empty weight stamped in the handle (pic below). On two of my tanks the weight listed was TW - 16.6 LB (TW = tare weight). Propane weighs 4.2 lbs. per gallon. So 4.6 gallons of propane weighs 19.44 lbs. (4.2lbs per gallon x 4.6 gallons of propane). Add the 19.44 lbs of propane to the empty weight of the propane tank at 17 lbs and you get 36.44 lbs. As you can imaging it would be pretty easy to tell if you're picking up an empty propane tank at 17 lbs or a full tank at roughly 36.44 lbs. It's the increments in between that would be harder to tell. OK, let's get to the Cuisinart Tank Gauge itself. Firstly it arrives sealed in plastic, you will definitely need scissors or a sharp knife to open the packaging. On first impressions the gauge appears heavy duty and I didn't smell anything unusual with the rubber handle as some people have written about. The propane tank hook is plenty beefy so I don’t see where that would ever bend. The handle that you use to lift with is big enough to hold with 3 fingers (see pic) on average sized hand. (Remenber you'll be picking up anywhere from a 17 lb to 36 1/2 lb propane tank using 3 fingers or less.) The gauge portion could be better as much of it is taking up by a large Cuisinart logo and the numbers are rather small. Plus more than likely you'll be looking at the gauge from top down as you hold up the tank so the numbers on the scale will be upside down. However it is pretty easy to tell how full the tank is by looking at the gauge segments. The first segment is a light gray and the following segments range from light green to a dark green. Also, It would be much nicer if the segments went from more contrasting colors such as green to red. This gauge also features a retractable tape measure for some reason. It has no use for figuring how full you're propane tank is, but could possibly come in handy. Unfortunately the tape measure is pretty flimsy and on first use mine would not retract and was permanently stuck in the out position. Bottom line the Cuisinart CTG-120 Propane Tank Gauge is a pretty decent gauge for the price. It is easy to use and after testing I found it to be fairly accurate. However the gauge could be less cluttered and easier to read and then there is the issue with the tape measure. If not for the broken tape measure I would have kept mine. If you found this information useful I would greatly appreciate it if you would click the “Yes” button below.

Awkward to use, but works.
This works pretty well. It is a little awkward to lift the tank and read the gauge at the same time - especially when the tank is connected. I’ve seen reviews saying it rusted. I don’t leave mine on the tank since it clips on. So far, no problems with it and it’s been a while since we bought it. It does work better than the inline gauges I’ve used before. Those were never accurate.

SAFTEY WARNING: Fire/Explosion hazard
I thought this was great until I managed to barely prevent a disaster. The hose material is not sufficiently suitable for the models of portable bbq's this is designed to support. The hose will melt if the BBQ is at a high temperature in seconds if it touches the base. Unlike full sized BBQ's, the hose attach point is close to the bbq base, and it is easy for the hose to angle towards the bbq once attached. If it does this while it is one, a hole will form at the touch point and the fire inside the bbq will ignite the propane within the tube and cause an inferno, or potentially an explosion. While this is a standard material for a full sized bbq that protects the tank location, it is not suitable for a portable bbq where the tank is not protected from the heat.

BETTER THAN THE PRESSURE GUAGES
Had a number of the in line propane tank gauges over the years and tho they're convenient to read, the readings area way off in the winter so bought this one. The last in line read half full immediately after a tank fill so I knew it was wrong. And quite useless for that matter. Since it's not affected by the cold and is based on weight it works perfectly and is always right on.

Great product if u are checking multiple tanks!
If u have multiple propane tanks you like to check the levels on (bbq, fire table) this is the gadget for u! I’ve tried the little stickers and they don’t work 90% of the time. This thing takes 1 sec to lift the propane tank and it tells u immediately with accuracy! Love this thing!!
