Completes my Pro 22, which is 20" wide.

Comes in very handy. No need to put stuff on top of pellet or drag a chair over to put stuff on. Makes it easy to transfer food from pan to grill and back again.

Will only work with "New" model 20s and not the "Old" Junior 20s Traeger.

This will only easily mount if you have newer model 20 Traegers with the 2 shelf screws installed already. My model 20 Junior was made in 2014 and doesn't have those screws. I talked to Traeger Technical Support (which is awesome by the way), and they said I could drill holes and put my own screws which would void the warranty. But my Traeger is out of warranty so no issues there. They did remind me to use heat resistant mounting screws.

The shelf should be standard issue

First off, this shelf fits like it came with the Traeger Tailgater... which it should. I don’t know why it’s an add on to a $400+ grill. At any rate the shelf looks and fits great. Install was a breeze. Just remove 4 screws on the Traeger, use those same screws to mount the brackets (labeled L for left, R for right) and then mount the shelf to the brackets with the 4 provided shoulder screws. The swing up and swing down motions are flawless. The only gripe I have is when you swing the shelf down, it bangs into the legs. This can be avoided by slowly lowering the shelf all the way down yourself, or placing some type of “bumper” onto the legs where the shelf will hit. All in all, it’s a tough pill to swallow to have to purchase a $50 shelf, but you can find them used/returned/damaged on Amazon for around $30 which makes it easier to digest.

This should come with the grill!

Ok. Gripe with Traeger. These shelves should come WITH the grill. We're already paying a premium price for Traeger products, a little bit of stamped steel is not going to cut your profit margin by that much! Stop being chincy. The shelf is phenomenal! Sturdy. Takes 2 minutes with an electric driver, 4 with a manual screwdriver. Super easy, super fast, super sturdy and super useable. Don't dance on it! It's not going to support someone dancing on it. Warning label says 15 pounds max but I'm pretty sure it could handle a wee bit more. It's solid and folds away easily. Plenty of wiggle room in the hardware to fold it but when up and in place no wiggle at all. Over all YES! Get this! Absolutely a good fit for my Traeger Tailgater 20.

Packaged for Newer Model Grill

It fits the "pictured" grill however the pictured grill does not have the mounting hardware that newer models have (mounting screws in the cooking barrel) nor the holes for mounting the unit. I had to buy mounting hardware (It was not included in order) and drill holes for mounting in the Traeger Barrel to mount the table. This particular unit had one of the "hinge" screws missing. The packing that I received was for the newer model unit.

Perfect replacement for the wire rack you had to find someplace to store if you use a cover. Worked perfect for the size I have. Very sturdy when up, and easily folds to put the cover back on.

Easy to install and stable

I've been holding out in buying this shelf for my Junior Elite 20. Well, it's been over a year since getting my Traeger Grill and I regret for waiting this long to get this folding front shelf. It has helped out so much when it comes to transferring food from the grill to my sheet tray and vice versa. I used to have the missus come out and help me out since my hands are full. Now all I do is lift it up, lock it in place, and place my tray and other items right on it. Super stable and installation was like less than 5 mins. Highly recommend it if you have a Traeger Grill that doesn't have a front shelf!

Has to be manually installed in older Traegers

Although the right size, it is difficult to install on an older Junior. The older Junior does not have the pre-drilled holes that this shelf requires for installation. To install you have to line the shelf up making sure it is level and the correct distance away from the Traeger then, while holding it in place, someone has to help by marking where the holes need to be. After that I needed to measure to make sure the marks were in the same place on both sides (which they weren't). Then I drilled the 2 holes required on both sides to be able to install. After all that I was close, but not 100% correct. So, the moral of this story is that for easy installation make sure you have the newer Junior (or 20) that already has the holes otherwise it is a bit of a challenge to install. The product itself is great, having the additional shelf space is great, but perhaps, because of how I installed it, the lid will hit things on the shelf if they are too close to the Traeger itself.

Shelf is too long by 1/2"

The shelf is OK but Traeger should learn to use a tape measure. The shelf is 22 1/2" long compared to the smoker which is 22" long so the hinges got bent out of shape. They should include 1/4" thick washers for each side to bring the hinges out to the same length as the shelf. It still works OK as is.

Really easy to install, it took me 2 minutes.

Traeger could have just give it when you buy the grill itself but well. Expensive for a folded sheet metal but really usefull and it fits right there! Still happy about it. Love my traeger tailgater

Good quality shelf. Unfortunately I ordered the wrong size for my smoker. Good bang for your buck in my opinion. The return was easy and I ordered the same one but the right size this time. Waiting for the arrival of the new one
