string too long for me

Great fun for the kids!

These balloons are fun for the kids and are easy to pump up. In some other reviews they said the pump received did not match the pump in the picture. The pump I received on 6/18 is exactly the one shown in the picture. The pump works great and can pump up a balloon in about 20 easy pumps. It is easy to pop the balloon if you try to go to the balloon's limit. Stretching a new balloon prior to its first flight seems to help. We found that the neat screeching sound a balloon makes disappears after it is inflated about 3 times but it still flies fine. You never know which direction they will fly, so don't be near a house or trees. Note that when ordering additional balloons, the Amazon price for balloons-only is only about $1.50 less than the price of balloons and pump, so I think it is worth getting an extra pump with the additional balloons, although I never have had a pump go bad. Update 11/1/15: The balloons are necessarily thin to work as they do and there are times when the balloons pop, either blowing them up or when they hit the grass or leaves with lots of air still in the balloons. Normally, this is no big deal since you get 40 balloons in each package. The latest package I purchased in 10/15 was not up to par with the first 3 I purchased. A few of the balloons, perhaps 6, had holes in them before they were launched and could not be blown up. Usually the holes were near the tip where the end is tied in a knot. Also, the end of the pump that blows up the balloons was chipped and made it a little more difficult to blow up the balloons. I'm telling you this just so you won't expect perfection from these balloons. I still recommend them and will continue to buy them because my grand kids and I love them, they're cheap, and you get so many balloons that you'll get tired of playing with them before you run our of balloons, even if some have holes in them from the start.

Fun for all ages

The product I got was labeled "Toysmith" and I would say quality is about on par with the last set of Toysmith rocket balloons we had. There are definitely some duds right out of the bag and others that pop on pumping. We haven't gone through the whole pack yet, but most have been fine. You get at least a few flights out of each balloon. They do lose the sound after the first flight usually, but that didn't seem to bother the kids much. From the four year old up to the adults, these have been a big hit. Some fly really high, some fly lower and spin around in circles. The unpredictability I think added a lot of fun for the kids. You do want a pretty big area to shoot them off in. We shot them off in the front yard the first time and lost a number to the roof, power lines, etc. If there's any wind at all they can really get grabbed and take off. Overall a fun toy for all ages.

Purchased as a gift

Purchased for a grandkid. They seemed to like it fine. Didn’t hear too much about it after they receive it

Best $7.50 I've spent on kid entertainment.

I used this with 3 1/2 yr old twins, supervised and assisted, and they were awed and giggling. I put the balloons on the pump, and then they could pump it themselves. First use was indoors and kept them going for 45 minutes before they tired. They asked for it again the next day, but it wasn't as new and exciting, so we took it outside. Another instant hit as they blasted off into the sky. We lost one to a tree, one to our roof, and one to a neighbor's roof. These things really go, but retrieved the rest. We've used at least half the packet of balloons at least once with only two duds, and we have used several more than once. The twins now want to share the fun with the neighbor kids when they get home. Afterwards, I put them out of reach for safety as balloons should not be unsupervised at this age. An added plus is I really enjoyed this activity, too. Great upper body exercise for little ones.

Great Ballooons

The balloons work great. They are just what I was looking for. I used to buy them at our local Fred Meyer in the $1 section. This package comes with much more, so they last longer. We bought them for our dog. She loves to watch them and chase after them, mostly because of the noise they make. The pump isn't very good; it doesn't have much air pressure. I find it easier to blow them up with a disposable plastic straw. (We live in Alaska, and did experiment with using them outside in the winter. Below freezing these balloons don't work, but we didn't find that very surprising. I don't recommend using them in the house since they do fly really far and will pop if they hit rough walls or furniture.)

How can a toy this simple by this fun?

I was just looking for a balloon pump to blow up twisters to make balloon animals for a carnival-themed party, but when this popped up on Amazon, I thought "sure, why not?" Boy, I could not have guessed how much fun these rocket balloons would be! When the set arrived, my husband immediately blew up a balloon and "launched" it in the living room, much to our dog's delight. The sound and motion sends her into a frenzy. We spent hours that week launching rockets inside, squealing and crowing as the dog chased them around the house. Then I left the pump and a few balloons on a table outside during our party, and our quests were very amused launching them in yard. They go surprisingly high! And quite far, as one guest discovered, it you let one go horizontally towards people's legs! Really, I don't see anything to complain about. This is the most fun we've had for under ten bucks. The pumps works fine, and the balloons are reasonably sturdy. (They are balloons, after all. We popped a few, and then realized it was better not to fill them up all the way.) Great toy!

Poorly made and not worth the cost.

The top of the pump was broken when we received it and this made fitting the balloons very hard. It was poorly made and after 20 minutes of playing rocket balloons in the park the pump fell apart. At the price I expected something much more robust and well made.

i would like a resend as this was a huge disappointment for my grand daughter.The string separated from the ball in no time at all.Hopeless really and would not recommend!!!! WES JOHNSTON
