Product great, packing not

Spending $10 on a plastic placemat was difficult for me. I feel like it's overpriced but I desire the learning at the meal table for my children so I forked it over. Unfortunately, the packing job was sub-standard and it put a permanent bend and crease in the center of the mat because it was jammed in a box that was too small. I gave it some time to "flatten" on the table but over the course of a month, it never did. Nevertheless, we will use it though its attractiveness is sadly diminished.

If you have a rock & mineral lover kid, they will love this placemat!

These are great learning placement mats to keep the kids entertained during family meals. I ordered 10 different learning placement mats for our 4 kids (ages 1, 4, 7, and 9). My kids love their new placement mats. We let their choose a different placement when setting the table to eat. My oldest daughter has always been fascinated with rocks. Ever since she was 5 years old she would come home from school with rocks in her pocket that she would collect during recess at the playground. The pictures and facts on this placemat are wonderful for kids to learn more information on rocks and minerals. My kids love looking at all the different rocks and reading the facts. It doesn't feel like boring learning to them and is an awesome way to introduce little facts here and there while eating lunch or dinner. Also the quality of the placemats are great. They are completely laminated and the placemat wipes off clean. I can imagine we will get many years of use from these placemats for our kids. Feel free to ask me any questions. Needed more thorough information to make it interesting

Visually appealing, yet lacking in content compared to other learning mats. I wish it used the back to show where minerals are located around the world, or side cut view of a mountain and mineral locations, or how minerals are found. I bought approximately 9 learning place mats from individual vendors on Amazon for our 4 year daughter and kept those with the best visuals and most thorough information. The money mat, minerals mat, and the world map mat were sent back as they seemed lacking in information, or in appeal of the way the information was organized. It would be nice if Amazon would offer the learning place mats at a bundled price, individually they seemed overpriced with Prime shipping. The anatomy mat, the metric system mat, colors mat, addition mat, US states mat, and multiplication mat were other "keepers". Daughter chooses her interest and rotates them.

digest some facts with every meal

our kids really like these themed place mats. Based on the fact that they sit down to eat a couple of times every day they have a look at these sets, which is a basic way of memorizing things (repetition). Since we have several of these we went to hanging those not at the talbe in line at the wall in their play room. With the b/w blanc backside they can see how much they know, which they do occasionally (specifically for the geography sets) Stones set doesn't have as much information as some other sets...

At the suggestion of a friend we bought a few place mats. My son always requests this one. It is interesting, informational, and most importantly, he and his sister quiz each other for fun during meals. What a great idea for a supplementary learning tool. This is large, sturdy, and is holding up to the 2 year old throwing it on the ground and carrying it around the house. Good enough that I will re-buy it if it ever gets ruined.

Shows lots of different rocks and minerals

This placemat has color photos of 20 types of common rocks and minerals, plus categories (sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous, minerals). The back has scrambled B&W photos with lines underneath for a quiz, so good luck. The back would have been more useful with a geologic time scale, or examples of tectonic plate subduction or volcanic activity, etc. Useful also as a placemat - wipes clean.

Sure...ok.

Our 8-year old son is obsessed with learning about various rocks, minerals, and basic geology. This does not by any means contain very much in the way of detailed indormation and explanations with respect to rocks and minerals let alone basic geology, but he says he still enjoys reviewing it whenever he sits down to eat on it.
