Great filtering power, not quiet though. Updated 4/10/2023, 4/11/2023

Update 4/11/2023 Today is recycle day. When I put the filter into the recycle bin, I found the housing of electrical motor was not aligned with the filter housing. I twisted the motor housing back into its original position and the filter works again. I am changing my rating from 2 star to 4 star. Update 4/10/2023 The filter has been used since mid February 2023. It was turned on in the morning and turned off in the night. It had worked flawlessly until today. It no longer turns on. I guess the motor is dead. The return window was closed on 3/10/2023. Changing from 5 star to 2 star. --------------------------my original review---------------------------------- I had a corner filter for a few month. It didn't do much cleaning my 10 gallon aquarium. This one has more filtering power. My tank is clear now. I've bought a big jar of active carbon charcoal and change charcoal every week. The big flow and charcoal have done the trick, in my opinion. If you easily wake up at noises, you shouldn't use it in your bedroom. My fish tank is in dining room. It is OK. I consider a filter quiet if I only hear the sound of water. This one is not quiet: I can hear the motor noise. Nevertheless I can live with it and enjoy a clearer fish tank.

You get what you pay for.

This was one of the cheaper filters I found for our 5 gallon tank. It was easy to set up but is definitely louder than a “whisper” and created a current too strong for our beta fish. I had to modify the current with a water bottle trick I found on YouTube. Definitely not perfect but the price was right.

Powerful

Fish got big tank , he was always struggling to stay away from strong current even on low. Cleaned and flowed water good

Powerful filter

Powerful for it size, but it is not whisper quiet. It emits quite the humm. I will have to install a baffle when I transfer my Betta to the tank as this filter creates a lot of current.

A little loud

It's a bit louder than I was expecting and the flow is very quick, with no way to adjust it and no user manual, I slapped a water bottle on there to disrupt the flow and now that's not an issue.

Good for the price

For the cost really can't complain too much. The pump is quite a bit louder than expected especially when compared to my 20 gallon tank filter from the same brand (this maybe partially my error as the pump ran dry for about 5 minutes initially as I couldn't get the internal part to seat itself appropriately). It filters great, I love that I can set the flow low or high, it doesn't bother the fish and overall not bad at all for the low cost.

Too powerful for a 6 gal tank!

I was really looking forward to this filter. However it is WAY too powerful for a 5 gallon tank. Especially for a betta. I plugged it in and the flow was huge and fast. I would only get it if your pet enjoyed currents. The device states you can set different flow rates but the one I recieved had nothing of the sort. It did not even match the instruction photos it came with. Id you could adjust the rate then it might work better. The little bit that I ran it for: once you fill it with water so it can flow properly, it is quiet! No loud noises. It looked easy to clean and that it had good suction power. I returned this and am searching for a different one with a low flow rate.

For the short time it worked, it was nice.

This filter worked great while it did. However it's been a month and a half and is totally dead. Woke up and it was the only thing not working in the tank. No power outage either. It just gave up.

Not safe for less thaan 10 gallons, way too strong

Dont buy, flow way too strong for 5 gallon. Very noisy and for less than 10 gallon its too dangerous for the fish. It says 5-10 gallons but anything less than 10 is too small, the flow is too powerful, and no way to regulate the flow without adding sponges and pre filters etc... even then its too strong.

Updated - Noisy pump and stops working

Very noisy pump. Have an older model of the same and it was way quieter. Pump stopped working. Everytime we need to clean the tank we unplug it. When we plug it back in then it will not start. We have to try and play with the cord and find the spot where it starts again. Not very impressed Update 2 Just randomly stopped working one day. Wouldnt start up again. 8 months old

Not quiet and it leaks

Brand new and just out of the box thoughts: I'm pretty happy with the size and flow of the filter but it is really loud. Unlike my previous filter this one can be heard across the room. There is nothing quiet or whispery about this filter. It also leaks in the right chamber around the area where the intake pipe is. Really unhappy.
