Not bad but not good
When I bought this product it was $6. I bought two of them. I didn't expect terribly much considering the price. They are very easy to read, but they are not terribly accurate. Of course where you put it does make a difference in how well it can read. If you put it in a very windy spot, the temperature will likely read lower than it actually is. Windchill is definitely a factor here. Generally this has a tolerance of 3 to 5°. It is fantastic for a basic idea of the temperature, it is not good for an exact temperature reading.

Nice easy to read thermometer
The first one Amazon sent me was not accurate, they replaced it, now this one is accurate.

Accurate
Easy to install, just a little flimsy. Don't bend the metal too many times or else it'll snap.

Adjust the reading!
I ordered this model on January 4, 2014. When it came I was frankly disappointed by it's cheap construction. It's almost as flat as a music CD, and paper light. Clearly, this product was built toward a profit margin rather than toward a standard of quality or accuracy. If your familiar with bimetallic strips, I'll explain that the strip is in the form of a spiral coil about the size of an American nickel coin. Say, 20 millimeters. The back of the coil is anchored to a kind of rivet in back, and the front of the coil is attached directly to the pointer needle in front. You can just see it in some photos. The mounting bracket is a flimsy metal band, though adequate for this need. It comes with two nails, but in retrospect I wish I has screwed the bracket down since, once nailed, it cannot be removed without tearing it apart. I quickly noted that the accuracy was very poor. It read high by five or six degrees Fahrenheit. That's quite a lot of error. I have been cross-checking it's accuracy against two linear thermometers, the kind with colored alcohol in a narrow glass tube. Both of my conventional thermometers (one also made by Springfield), are always in close agreement, differing by perhaps one-half degree. One reviewer mentioned that you can turn the "rivet" in back and make a course adjustment. I had not known this, but sure enough one can easily turn the back rivet to make course corrections. This eliminated the major error at a given point, but as to whether or not accuracy will be consistent and linear over a broad range is still unclear. I intend to monitor the thermometer for a few days and update my review with more detail on this point. A final detail worth mentioning; the metal bracket holds the thermometer between two plastic pegs sticking out of the housing at the top and bottom positions. These pegs are six-sided or hexagonal. The punched holes in the mounting bracket are also hexagonal. Thus, you can rotate the thermometer housing to several spaced intervals and still have it hold that position in moderate winds. Lastly, when I bought this thermometer earlier this month it was about $7. It is now about $10. All things considered, I suspect I could have spent a few dollars more for a much better thermometer elsewhere. Update: It's now January 12th, 2014. The weather here has remained consistently in the 40's so I am unable to report on this thermometers consistency over a wider range. I can report that for the past few days it has been accurate to about one degree. Not bad. One issue though; a day or so back, the sun came out here. Just a bit of feeble sun. I couldn't even feel any warmth on my hand. Nevertheless, my thermometer shot past 70 degrees even though the real temp was still in the 40's. This means that this thermometer MUST be shielded from direct sunlight. Otherwise, readings will be utterly meaningless.

Perfect size, highly visible
I have a digital thermometer in with my little chicks, but I was having a hard time seeing it through my ring camera. This is perfect. I was able to use the bracket to place it on the container down by where the chicks are so I can get a more accurate temperature. I can see it great with my ring camera.

Came broken in shipment
The one I ordered came with the needle flopping around inside. I have had a similar one before, I accidentally broke it, and these types are very easy to read and usually fairly close to accurate.

Overall, I’m very satisfied with the seller and cautiously optimistic on the unit
This is a replacement, which arrived quickly and without hassle. Much appreciated. First one was all over the place, so I returned it. This one was pegged at 120° when I got it out of my mailbox. Brought it inside where it quickly matched my indoor temp, so I believe it’s quite accurate. Mounted it outside under the eave and by a window and it went to 105°, although the Weather Channel says it’s only 99°. I have no idea if the WC has instruments anywhere near my house or if they are nearer the lake, river and COE dam, (1-1/4 miles away) where temps are generally cooler, or if they interpolate the temp numbers from larger nearby communities. In any case, I’m happy with the seller and the thermometer is “close enough for govt work”, as folks say. I’m calling it a keeper.

It's not that big!
Describing it as big as probably inaccurate, it's about as big as your hand, maybe not quite as big. But it works and installs as described.

Good Value for the money.
Not much to add - seems to be accurate; has a nice clear dial and was easy to install.

Good Buy
This is a great product for the price. I needed it to replace a broken part of an old weatherstation. Looks good and is fairly accurate.

Indique la bonne température!
Il est fidèle, il indique la bonne température. Par contre, j'aurais préféré que les degrés en celsius soient écrits plus gros au lieu de gros caractères en fahrenheit. Je n'avais pas remarqué ce détail lors de la commande.
