Lights up in the dark for easy operation

Purchased this remote to replace the factory Samsung remote that does not light up. After several months using the factory remote, I just couldn't get the buttons memorized to use in the dark. So I decided to upgrade to this illuminated remote. Not sure why Samsung wouldn't have an illuminated remote, but they don't. This one is easy to program, and lights up nicely in a dark room. The layout is very similar to the Samsung unit, with just some basic differences. We are only using to control our Samsung TV, but can also use it for a DVD player if need be. Highly recommended.

Hurray for backlit remotes!

I bought this GE Universal remote to replace the LG standard remote that came with my TV because it offers backlit (backlighting) keys. The price (~$10) and the thousands of reviews didn't hurt either. The standard remote received with my LG UP7670 Series is not backlit and nearly impossible to use in a low lit bedroom. I believe this remote would also work with the LG UQ8000 series, as it is essentially the same TV, although it did get the upgraded (but also not backlit) LG 'Magic Remote'--I have not tried it with the UQ8000 series because I use an Apple TV box to consolidate all my streaming apps on the family room TV, and that remote is superior in simplicity to anything else, when you aren't entering something like a channel number. I was very pleasantly surprised that the very first LG code listed with the enclosed-with-the-remote 'code sheet' worked for the LG on first entry and controlled all the features seamlessly: On/Off, volume, channel, and even the navigation up, down, left, ride and select. Further, the home button will take you to LG Menu where Streaming Apps/Services can be selected, and a back button worked with (Amazon Prime I think it was) to move back in the menus of that streaming service). Some might consider it a drawback that the remote does not come with the 2 AA batteries required, as most TV included remotes do, but for $10.00 I don't think that's a reasonable expectation. So, I can highly recommend giving this remote a try with an LG TV. Now, for those who want to indulge me for a quick rant about LG's remotes, keep reading: I've seen it hypothesized in many places that LG doesn't backlight their remotes anymore to 'save some cost' to produce the TVs. If that's the case then how in the hell can someone make and sell a remote that does everything the LG does, with backlighting, for $10? If that's truly their rationale, then drop the free batteries and add backlighting.

Easy to use, once programmed

It took almost 30 mins to program b/c it wouldn't pair with my Samsung Smart TV, but once it did, it's pretty easy to use. It works w/my Roku Ultra, which is the primary reason I bought it b/c the Roku remote is not user friendly with the volume buttons on the side.

The remote works well. Comes with good instructions and it was easy to set up. The backlight feature is nice. I would have given it four stars except the ad is misleading. They pictures shows three remotes but you only get one.

Sleep timer

I like this because it has the sleep timer. I hate having a commercial or loud music wake me up in the middle of the night. I haven't figured out all the other settings yet since the sleep timer was the main reason, plus the backlight,. for buying this remote. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't always light up. I think that may be my fault but I'm not sure.

2.23.23 - I had to get a new Samsung TV. An expensive TV- with a tiny and very unsatisfactory remote. I need a sleep timer. It’s how I always fall asleep, tv on, sleep timer set. To use the sleep timer in the new tv, I had to pull up the menu and complete several clicks & there was no timer button in the remote. I came to Amazon, wanted it to be backlit and have a sleep timer. I found this great remote and love it. First I ordered the wrong one and it did not have a sleep timer. However the one that controls 8 devices, has a sleep timer! Another plus with the 8 device remote, there is a special button on the top row, to cause the remote to light up, if you need to see, without pressing an action button. And…. This bottom has a very faint glow in the dark light that is always on. The blue backlight is a a bit bright for me, I would prefer something a bit dimmer. At least I can see the remote in the dark now. Very happy with the new remote! It also has the added bonus that it was already preprogrammed for my Samsung TV. This one would be really hard to beat. 10 bucks and all the great features I expect and need on a remote… plus a whole lot of room to add more, if I ever need to. Still a shame that a very expensive & very high quality Samsung TV has such a junk remote with it. Grateful for Amazon, once again!

A Big Remote!

This is a big remote and it does the job! I am able to program it and use it as the only remote for TV, Soundbar and Home Theater system. I am very happy!

i have an older samsung tv, specifically a F5300, and i thought i was gonna have to go through the codes due to reviews saying it didnt immediately pair but mine did! i just put the batteries in and it was completely set up! the color of the rose gold remote and lights are also great if thats what you are getting it for! so good for the price being i got this for only 8 dollars. so happy with this.

Useful Universal remote but not totally universal

reasonable quality and works my sony tv and bluray player. However haven't managed to find a code for my sky q box or sky soundbox so far. ⁸ Still looking but if anyone has any suggestions?

This is a very good replacement remote or adjunct to one on which some keys have stopped working. It covers all of the major functions of my TV (and also my cable box as I discovered through experimenting). However, at first it seemed like it was able to perform only the very basic functions on my 6-year old Toshiba TV like powering on or changing channels, but that others (source selection, TV configuration menu) were either unavailable or were working wonkily. That's because I used the codes listed in the enclosed instructions. I then went to the manufacturer's Web site (byjasco.com) and found there a whole different set of codes corresponding to the label inside the battery compartment. The first one I tried worked perfectly and I can now use the remote fully for my TV. I do not know if it works for Apple TV or networking capabilities since I do not find those things relevant for my needs and it would be picayune for me to complain about that. It would be a good idea for GE to include a more useful and up-to-date version of the codes list in the packaging or to simply direct people to go to the Web site as a first step. Programming the remote is simple and very fast. I also appreciate its slim-line profile and the light weight. And if you buy one of the versions in another finish than the standard basic black, it becomes more readily identifiable as you need to locate it. I have yet to try it for my Blu-Ray players, but it does seem to be lacking one-key access to some of the functionalities like time elasped or remaining; I would probably need to go into menus to use them with this remote. But that is a minor point and I consider myself fully satisfied.

Returned it. Not good for modern devices. Read to see why...

For my LED Samsung TV, this remote doesn't have any button that changes inputs. Not even the "input" button works! Instead, it would do some weird function of "saving channel"... I have no idea what that does, but none of the buttons on my Universal Remote worked on my Samsung to change the input / source. For example, when you have multiple HDMI's attached and you wanna change from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2, this remote couldn't do that basic function for my Samsung TV even though it's a new TV! Also, I have a Vizio Soundbar (which I recommend getting in another review) but this remote doesn't have a "bluetooth" button like the soundbar does. *Sigh*. And this is after spending 30 minutes trying to get the codes right! I'm sure it's good for simple purposes, but not for modern purposes.

Luz roja no enciende (o no existe)

La única razón para quitarle una estrella es que las instrucciones indican qué hay que esperar a una “luz roja” que confirma que el control está en modo programación, pero el control no genera ninguna luz roja, después de probar con varias pilas y hacer intentos descubrimos que había que esperar el tiempo marcado por las instrucciones pero que no hay ninguna luz que confirme el modo de programación. Después de eso, los códigos de los aparatos los pude programar sin problema. También sería bueno tener una confirmación cuando se envía un comando a los aparatos “con la luz roja” pero... fuera de eso funciona cómo está descrito.

Producto súper recomendado. Llevo más de 3 meses usándolo. Pros - Fácil instalación, instrucciones sencillas, sólo no olvides guardar el instructivo porque ahí vienen las claves, en menos de 5 minutos estaba cambiándole a mi canal favorito desde mi cama. - Elegante y de buenos materiales. Aguanta caídas y golpes, aunque obvio es para cuidarse, si se le da un mal trato, al paso del tiempo, sufrirá descomposturas. - bastantes botones, más de los que necesito, eso me gusta porque no le faltó ninguna opción.
