exactly what's needed
So, I have been running full steam ahead into the e-biking world at full speed, and I'm having a ton of fun, but I am still pretty new. The first problem that I need to overcome was where to put my battery. After one failed experiment with a product that was never going to stand the test of time, I ended up getting the Thule Tour Rack, and while I think that rack is over priced, it does what I need it to do. Then, I found myself with this rack that could the battery, and a set of panniers. Seemed silly not to take advantage of that, so I got a pair, and I thought I was going to be fine without the side frames.... Well.... I wasn't. the first time I went to the grocery store for some groceries, the panniers fell into my wheel, if I had taken a second to think about it, I would have seen that coming. So, I'm not all that smart, fine, whatever. So I looked into this product and I saw the reviews saying it was flimsy and light and thought, you know, the rack is not supposed to be holding more that 20 pounds to begin with, and it's not really holding that weight itself, it's just keeping the bags from hitting the tires, shouldn't need a ton of strength to get that done, so I bought it. They're perfect. They aren't a military grade titanium alloy, they're aluminum and plastic, they're plenty sturdy enough to do what needs to be done. If you've already spend the outrageous amount of money on the Tour Rack (which mind you is the best option for a rear rack of a full suspension mountain bike) then the last twenty bucks for the side frames is a no brainer if you're going to use panniers.

Not sure anyone did any thinking
I used these sides with their rack for a full suspension frame. The base rack worked pretty well but these sides did not. I purchased Thule's rack extenders so the panniers would be further back and not be hit with my heels (big feet) when pedaling. However, Thule never bothered to document that you can only use the sides or the extenders but not both so they were a useless $10 waste. Thankfully my heels didn't hit the quality Ortlieb panniers that lived up to _their_ reputation. Thank heavens I believed the poor reviews of the Thule panniers and noped out on them. These side racks include a clip that is _supposed_ to tie the bottom of the side rack to a leg of the main rack but it didn't occur to them that, depending on seat stay geometry, the clip would have nothing to clip too. So both my side racks floated in open space with nothing to prevent them from flopping out away from the bike or leaning into the rear wheel from the weight of the panniers. Clearly no one at Thule ever tried this with more than a bike or two. Nevertheless, I used the clip on the base rack at the side as a standoff and zip tied the front rail of each side to my seat stays. This kept the front of the side panels from getting too close to the wheel or from flopping out on rough terrain. The rear of each side continued to be unsupported by anything and to lean into the wheel but thankfully the trail was smooth enough that I got thru. Were it rough, I suspect the sides would have wracked into the wheel. I might have been able to jerry rig a stick between the two sides at the back but there would have been risk of rear suspension compressing enough that the rear tire would strike anything I put there to keep the two sides apart. The whole Thule system is pretty poorly done but if you have a rear suspension bike, it is the only rack that works at all now that OMM no longer appears to be in business.

Stupid install system
The Thule pack n pedal designers need fired. I hate having to keep track of their stupid little key thing to take it off the bike, and the way that these rails attach to it is pretty horrible. More small parts that are easy to lose. Thule makes everything very plasticky. And there is no good way to attach a bag to these rails at all. That is a horrible oversight. The Topeak Tetra system is far far better.

I bought these because they can be clamp led on and easily remove. I was afraid they might not be strong enough to hold the weight of large panier bags, but I decided to try them because they were made by Thule. After two weeks of daily commuting they’ve worked fantastic. No shifting or sagging and the quick attachment works great.

Great value and product by Thule
Great price for $19.99 on Amazon. Good solid product. Very light and yet strong for my fully loaded Thule Pack and Pedal Panniers. Installation takes a bit of time for custom fitting, but it was not a problem for me.

Just wish it came as a bundle
These are absolutely necessary with the Thule rack. I prefer the side panniers, and this keeps stuff from hitting the wheels. They weigh almost nothing, so I strongly encourage you to grab these to go with the actual pack'n pedal rack.

Great price, great quality.
Easy to fit and really sturdy, and the price is really good. Not sure if they'd attach to any other make of frame but there a worthy addition to the Thule setup ( just wish there pannier bag's were as cheap but I'll not moan about that )

Great quality
A fantastic product! I fully loaded these on a weeks off-road back packing. I would recommend using zip ties around the securing points, they can come loose. But the rack itself is brilliant. I used it on the rear triangle of a full suspension MTB.
