I does pretty good.
While not perfect, this mug works better than many others I have tried. The biggest drawback is that the heater cycles on and off over a rather wide temerature range, or to use the correct technical term, it has too much hysteresis (but pretty much per the temperatures given in the instructions.) That means depending on where you catch the mug in its heating cycle, you may have lukewarm 130 degree coffee or almost too-hot-to-drink 165 degree coffee. The first mug I received had an intermittent power cord. I contacted the seller and he sent a replacement that worked fine. Thankfully the DC power plug on the mug end is a coaxial type, which pretty much eliminates the risk of the plug shorting out to some metal part of the car causing a fuse to blow when unplugged. Too many other mugs use a RCA phono plug that leaves the +12V pin exposed that is prone to shorting out. This Schumacher mug has a nice stainless outer body but only a plastic inside shell which is a little disappointing. I've used it for about 3 months now and it seems to be pretty reliable--except for the bad power cord I initially received. Overall, I am happy with it. 6-month Update: Be very careful to keep water out of the DC-power jack when you wash it. Moisture at this point causes the connection to corrode. When that happens the unit becomes very unreliable and eventually worthless. The poor connection caused the plug on the power cord to overheat a bit and deform the tip. I ended up replacing the plug by soldering on a Radio Shack pn 274-1569 plug. Now I use that repaired cord on my new Schumacher mug.

Plastic Material inside
I could not see the inside before purchasing figured it would’ve been metal. Seller show all other pictures except the inside, It was plastic. I Had to return it with no issue. Thanks to Amazon.

Schumacher 1228 Stainless Steel Travel Mug - Heats Using Your Car’s Power - 12V , Black First impressions: Smaller than I expected. Why is the plug so low on the cup? I didn’t think beforehand how awkward having a plugged in cup would be. Installation/setup: Fill with hot coffee, plug into car 12v jack for commute. Drink hot coffee. Final thoughts: I can’t see how you will be able to wash this thoroughly and not get water in the place it plugs into the cup. That can’t be good for it. This cup is very light and tips over easily in my car. I drive a standard shift and this is probably not optimal as my cupholder and my 12v jack are on opposite sides of my gearshift. I have to have the cord out of the way to shift and then when I drink from the cup it automatically gets in the way. My cup seems to variate too much on the temperature, one sip is too hot, the next seems perfect, the next cooler in comparison. Then too hot again. Ah well, you can’t have everything, I guess. It works, but it’s not for me. ⭐️1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality. ⭐️⭐️ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.

A bit small and a bit confusing
This cup is very small and very lightweight. It couldn't hold nearly as much coffee/tea as I would like to drink every day. Then as I tried using it, the cord often gets in the way of the cup holder and keeps getting caught on things. Not the greatest in the car. But it heats up drinks to a reasonable temp. I probably wouldn't use it often.

Not bad, just isn't wife appreciated
I bought this for my wife, who is regularly running out the door in the morning, to later eat and drink her breakfast as I drive us into the city. I thought she would like this, but she doesn't. At first glance, she said it was too small, second she pointed out that it is poorly insulated and has plastic inside which will scratch and hold stains. When I tried to get her to use it, she said that not only was it too small, but it took up the phone charging socket and didn't keep a constant temperature--I've stopped asking for more, but I'm sure there are additional words by which she can convey her dissatisfaction. So, 3 stars based on my generosity.

Looks good but I think it could be better
Good: -Light weight. -Nice stainless steel exterior. -Mug includes a handle. Bad: -Smaller than expected. -Lid closing mechanism could be easier to slide. -Product includes a car power adapter, but I would prefer an AC adapter for versatile use. I ordered the Schumacher 1228 Stainless Steel Travel Mug. I like the travel feature of this mug. I like that the bottom section of the mug is tapered and fits well well in my cup holder. The power cord is about 47 inches long. Overall, the travel mug is convenient for my commute, but I think it could be better.

Wish this was Stainless inside and out, but a nice heated mug
I really like this mug for travel. I can keep my coffee warm anywhere I go. The only drawback is that it is plastic on the inside of this mug. I prefer to have a metal coffee cup so the flavors do not become permanent over time. I will only use this for coffee I guess, so it shouldn't be a big issue. This is hand wash only as well which is not great, but I do this routinely with my coffee cups anyways, so this is not a deal breaker for me. If they designed this to remove the inner part to be dishwasher safe, then that would be amazing! I removed 1 star for the above 2 reasons. I think I will get plenty of good use out of this coffee mug. This company makes quality items for vehicles and I am sure this will be no different.
