Like a slip and slide
This is my first Yoga mat. I am going to use it with P90X routines that involved laying down or crouching on the floor. I have hardwood floors and I wanted something to soften up the ground so I don't bruise a bone or something. I decided to get a Yoga mat. All the Yoga mats appear to be of similar thickness so I decided to go with something with outstanding reviews and medium priced. Now i'll start with the good 1) Long. I'm a tall person (6'3) and I just couldn't really find any "wide" mats but the default length of most mats fit me pretty well. 2) Easy to roll up and store away. Doesn't take much space 3) Impressions left in the mat quickly fade. Mat plumps back up. Now what's bad about it? Nothing except one thing. Unfortunately it's a biggie. IT'S SLIPPERY. To the point of ridiculous. Maybe this is the norm but my hands and feet both slide on this map. It's like a slip and slide. I can't hold the downward dog position cause my hands and feet just slide apart. I've read that I can wipe it down but c'mon, I shouldn't have to do that. I could also use a towel but I also may as well use a carpeted rug instead of this mat too. If this mat is something you work out on, then you shouldn't need towels, shoes, wiping, etc to work. Doesn't say in the description that "wiping" is necessary. In fact, it didn't even come with a manual!

Great new product
I ordered this product to use with P90X. A couple weeks in and so far so good, the mats are holding up pretty well except a couple very small spots on the end where the tread of my shoe has scratched a very small chunk out of the mat (this is the only reason I made it a 4 star instead of 5). The mat is nice and long enough for me (6' male), and width seems fine. All in all it's thick enough for most things. I do get a little discomfort when on my sides and hips bone can feel the floor underneath the mat, but it is an exercise mat and not a pillow-top mattress so i would imagine this is par for the course. The cushioning feels kind of like a sticky version of memory foam, so it does a good job going back to it's original form. I am using the mat on very low pile carpet, the kind you might find in a hotel hallway, and it does a good job staying put. Bottom line, it does what you will need for P90X and yoga for under $30.

Super mat
I started my yoga practice with this mat and I moved on to a Manduka but keep coming back to this whenever i'm too lazy to carry the heavy manduka. This mat is super comfortable, good amount of cushioning but not too soft, I have a torn knee ligament and this mat has the right amount of padding to not hurt if I'm kneeling on it. I'm 6'2" so the size has worked well and the most important thing is that it's super light to carry around. It didn't come with a sling / bag / belt to carry around but that's easily bought seperately, i normally stuff it in to my backpack and cycle down to my class. The only negative is that it does show signs of wear n tear, I've used it daily for not more than 3 months.

great for the price
i purchased this mat almost exclusively for core and ab work out and it works great. i was having trouble with pain in my back and tail bone when doing these exercises on tile or rug, but with the mat it is no issue. For the price it is great for what i use it for and i am very happy with it. My only concern is that it can be slippery with sweat and the material seems easily roughed up by shoes. i wouldn't suggest using it for push ups or more advanced yoga routines where sweaty palms would become problematic in holding your position correctly. overall for under 20 dollars i got exactly what i was looking for, it is a great mat for ab work outs, and maybe with a little more time with become less slippery.

Good quality, good value.
The Black Mountain yoga mat arrived on time and I followed instructions to air it out a bit before using it the next morning for yoga. There was a little odor right out of the package, but it was hardly noticeable by the next morning. Also, though it may have been a little slippery for the first couple of uses, that was very possibly because I'm in a dry climate and use a good bit of hand lotion. I've had no trouble with slipping by the third use (no hand lotion before yoga now :) ), even in Downward Dog. The thickness is just right, and it does not destabilize me by stretching like my last thick mat did. American made (very important to me) plus some eco-consciousness... it's all good. Update: About 7 years later, with regular use for yoga, this mat has held up very well. There's a little pitting, so I'll probably buy another exactly like it soon.

Awesome Product, Awesome Company
This is the third product I've purchased from BMP and I'm pleased to say I still have had nothing but good experiences with anything BMP. The mat feels firm and durable enough that I'm not worried about putting it through a beating during a workout, and yet it's thick and soft enough that I don't feel like I've just thrown a rug over my carpet and called it a "yoga mat". The quality of the product compared to the price excellent, and extremely refreshing to see, especially in a market where too often product quality is sacrificed in favor of lower costs. However, all you have to do is give BMP a call to see where the difference comes in. As soon as the call is answered you get a REAL person on the other end, no computer routing service. Everyone I have ever talked to has been very enthusiastic about their products and happy to hear from customers. From beginning to end the customer service from BMP is wonderful. Like the title says, awesome product, awesome company.

Ultimata Yoga Mat
I had a hard time doing yoga on the floor until I got this mat. The material and durabilty of this mat makes my yoga experience a pleasurable one. I feel like I can do any pose now since I have amazing grib from this mat. I give this mat five stars, not only for being a great mat but also because of the great costumer service that it's company provided as well. They answered any questions I had about their product and they offer a free lifetime warranty on this mat, so if you ever have a problem or it got damages for any reason, they will automatically send you a new one without any questions. It gets no better than this! To a good yoga experience and healthy living. God Bless

Toughest mat ever!
I've used this mat for nearly 8 years for yoga, calisthenics, weight training, and high impact workouts like P90x. I was over 200lbs when originally purchased and it took a beating. I also lugged it around town year-round. It's withstood the -30C weather, heavy usage, and tons of sweat and dirt. It's still in near perfect shape and doesn't smell, even though I often forget to wash it. It's thick but cushy, wide, and sturdy. Great for people with joint issues and use on hard surfaces, even concrete. My cat also loves napping on it. What a great investment!

Fairly good mat
Received the shipment quickly, and the mat didn't give off that chemical smell that so many cheap mats do. It's a good length for me (I'm 5' 9") and a good thickness. My only issue is that it's a bit slippery, so I find that once my feet get even the littlest bit sweaty, it becomes hard to hold positions like downward dog, side planks, etc., without my feet slipping.

my first mat, so nothing else to compare to, but i think it is the perfect thickness. My hands do slip a little near the end of my session as i get a little sweaty, but i think every mat would? (it's foam...) definitely better then doing yoga on the carpet...
