Really love this mat
I was hesitant to order this mat, but ended up really loving- it has become a must to have on hand at all times. Often times, a standard mat is too sticky when using the print and cut feature (which can be a real headache), or with thinner papers. It is a bit sticky upon arrival, so I'll first use it to cut a few rounds of cardstock. I have had nothing but perfect success (knock on wood) with the print and cut feature since. I've been using the cameo's since the very beginning- and currently have three machines that I run full time (business). My experience with the mats have been a serious love/hate relationship....as with the blades. However, this has honestly probably been my favorite Silhouette product to date. It does loose it's stickiness quicker than a standard mat- but that's to be expected. I will say, a couple downsides is that they tend to get gummy and leave little bits of adhesive "balls" which are hard to clean. I've always used a metal ruler to scrape/clean my mats, and the adhesive scrapes off very easily....and often will leave a "residue" on the backside of the paper which will stick to whatever it's laid on top of (and leave it's residue behind). This isn't an issue for me as the papers I'm cutting are generally layered onto other layers...but I could see this being a problem for some. Even still, it's worth they extra money when in the end, it's saving me time and material.

Great but
I do like these mats, you dont need to de-sticky them before use, and everything peels off beautifully but god, the scent/smell of these is terrible. It smells like cheap mineral oil makeup. I'm going to take the plastic off and let it air out for a few days and see if it gets better, because everything you cut on it ends up smelling like it too. Edit: If you let it air out for at least 24 hours the smell goes down a lot and doesn't seem to leave the scent on the items you're making. If you use it immediately after taking it out of the plastic, the smell will stick to everything. I will keep using these mats because they do work way better than the standard ones, but keep in mind the initial smell is pretty intense!

Learning curve
I've never owned a die-cutting machine before, so the Silhouette Cameo is my very first. I purchased this light hold mat along with the starter bundle because a friend of mine complained that the mat it comes with was SO sticky that it ripped a few things she had done. I only have a few gripes with this (but they may become less so the more I use the machine). 1. It is a VERY light hold. It's practically there and not there at the same time (weird explanation, I know). 2. It seemed to hold on to cat fur better than anything I purposely put on it. Maybe after playing with the machine more and using different materials I may feel different. If that happens, I'll be sure to update my review. As far as using it with the machine, it's pretty straight forward and works well in that aspect. I do recommend like other reviewers that you keep the protective sheet that covers the sticky part of the mat (it's clear for the light hold mat) to keep dust (or fur) off of it. :)

Perfect Mat
Perfect mat for card stock and paper. The mat that comes standard with the Cameo 4 is waaaay to strong for paper/card stock.

I now prefer the light hold cutting mat
From now on, I'm going with the light hold cutting mat for most of my projects. I cut a lot of projects out of card stock and even when new, this light mat , unlike the he regular mat, does not cause the paper to curl. When using lighter weight paper, your cut out is less likely to tear when peeling it off the mat.. I do recommend utilizing a great tip I came across: use painter's tape on the edges of your material to ensure it holds in place. This tape is easily removed and does not tear the paper. There will be times, of course, that the regular mat may be better suited for a particular project. I suggest giving the light hold mat a try and see how it works for your most common cutting projects.

Perfect for card making and other paper crafts
This is exactly what I needed for my card making. The medium tack was too strong and warped my paper when I pulled it off. This light tack works great, but I still ran a microfiber cloth over it before my initial use to lighten the tack just a tad.

Works great for a short period of time
I recently bought a Silhouette CAMEO bundle and quickly discovered the mat the came with the bundle pack was WAY too sticky for card stock. After speaking with a avid user at the local crafts store, I purchased this light hold mat from Amazon. Mat worked perfectly, allowing me to easily remove the card stock cut outs without needling to resort to a hammer and chisel. That was up until my 10th or 11th cut, the mat is not longer sticky, and now the card stock comes loose mid-project cut. I still not sure now long these mats are suppose to last, but losing it effectiveness after only a few cuts seems a bit too quick. Now I'm not sure if I should spend another $10 on a new mat that will be equally as ineffective, or look into another brand or solution. More research is require on my part. Any suggestions or product recommendations is welcomed.

Lighthold Mat
The light tack mat is in fact VERY light in stickiness. Also smells like mothballs. I would recommend this for sticker paper or anything that tends to curl when you remove it from the regular tack mat HOWEVER is does lose it's adhesive properties far sooner than the regular hold mat, even when replacing the protective cello sheet between uses. I've had this mat for about one month, using it regularly for making stickers and I'll need to replace it this week as it's lost 98% of it's adhesive tack. This mat would be great for occasional use with light-weight materials (vellum etc). The smell is pretty awful though... As an alternative. I would recommend getting a regular mat and wearing it in by sticking a pair of denim jeans over the surface a few times. This fibres from the denim will help reduce the tackiness. When peeling off a sticker sheet etc after cutting, set the mat face down and instead peel the MAT away from the sticker sheet, holding the sticker sheet (face down) on your table. This will help with curling as well. Bonus tip, the silhouette spatula tool is awesome for removing any bits of cardstock from the regular hold mat when it's too sticky. Hope that helps!

Good, but...
Good buy. Like all these cutting mats it was very tacky to start with but I just used it with some higher density card a few times and now it is perfect for papers. However, it has blue guide lines and, unless working on a light background, I find it quite difficult to line up the card/paper with the top of the mat. Putting white card behind it works but, having very little room in my workspace, I have to go into another room to set my work out.

Great low tack cutting mat
Great for those jobs where less tack is required. No need to de-tack before starting a project either.
