super bath mat....exactly what I was looking for!
This is a great bath mat. I searched quite a bit and read a lot of reviews before finding this mat. It is just the right size,not too big, not too small and covers most of the central part of the tub. It stays put even though we have a slight texture on the bottom of our tub which is something that other reviewers complained about. It is natural rubber which I love, and has a soft fabric-like front which is very nice and comfortable for the kids....and the design is adorable! I bought it for my nine month old to keep him from slipping and my 6 year old loves it too! I was worried that the material(not exactly sure what it is) would not dry fast enough and would mildew but I pull it out each night and hang it and it dries right away and after a month and a half it shows no signs of mold or odor even though we have had a very humid summer. Update- A year and a half later, this product is showing signs of wear and so while originally I gave it 5 stars I am downgrading it to 4. The fabric coating has started to peel away from the edges, quite a bit on one side. I have had to soak it in a bleach solution a couple times in order to give it a good deep clean as eventually mildew does build up around the underside of the suction cups, so perhaps that is why the fabric is coming apart. I'm not too upset as it is still a great product. I have not really had any major mildew issues on the fabric, and the buildup on the suction cups it totally normal with a product that is used in water. Bottom line, this bathmat is still so much nicer than most, and is soft for a young child to sit on, and so I would still recommend it and would even consider buying another one. Some things are just not meant to last forever, and this may be one of them.

Great, but moldy
I bought this mat and the similar Kikkerland Owl mat last June. For unclear reasons, the whale mat started getting moldy fairly quickly, while the Owl mat never did. Once the mold started, it kept growing, despite washing it well, trying to keep it dry whenever I wasn't using it, storing it rolled up on it's edge instead of flat, and other such tactics. Finally, now that it's March, almost 9 months after I bought it, I've decided it's just too moldy to keep using. However, I liked using it well enough that I'm buying another one to replace it (although if I didn't care about having 2 different pictures, I'd just buy a 2nd owl). It covers about half a bathtub, or a tiny bit more. When I first started bathing my twins in the bathtub, I wanted a good non-stick surface, and this fit the bill perfectly. It sticks to the floor of the tub (unless my now 14 month twins are pulling it up), and my kids can sit, stand and walk on in the tub w/o falling over and getting hurt.

Happy to find a non-PVC option
I was looking for a non-PVC bath mat for my children's bathtub to make the bottom non-slip. I am happy to have found this cute whale bath mat that matches our Skip Hop Whale Tub faucet cover. Other reviews have complained about it growing mildew/mold. I have had the mat for 2 months and after every use have pulled it up and hung it over the side of my bathtub... so far no problems. My one complaint is that the white whale easily stains and does not stay white. Dirty little feet will stain in quickly. But that may be the tradeoff with it being made of rubber, not sure. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. UDPATE: I've had the mat now for almost a year. No mildew or mold growth (it is removed from the bottom of the tub every day) but the whale is pretty dirty looking as I said above and does not go back to the original white color. Overall it is serving its function, just wish it would stay cleaner looking.

not amazing, but the best out there
my husband and i went through probably 5 different mats before finding this one. All of the clear-plastic appearing mats looked fine, but were actually very slippery (including the elmo mat). And I don't really mind the "plastic smell" that people complain about, because it goes away -- for me that was not a reason to not like the bathmat. My 1.5 year old daughter kept slipping and falling in the bath. Pros: completely non-slip, cute, matches with whale faucet guard and skip hop aqua-colored bath products Cons: 1. small -- i have a regular sized bathtub, so I cut it in half to make it spread out over the entire length. 2. discolors -- after a few months of toddler baths, the white whale becomes an ivory/brownish whale. But because safety is my top priority, I have decided just to purchase a new one every so often. After reading tons of reviews, it appears there is no perfect bathmat...

It works, just hard to clean
We've had this mat for over 6 months, - and use it almost every night during bath time. It sticks perfectly to the bottom of the tub, and I could care less that it doesn't cover the entire bottom of the tub as regardless it helps with sliding. I also hang it dry over the side of the tub every night after we are finished to dry. My issue with it is that the top part, not the suction cups, which was once white is now an off white - where it almost looks like it's dirty. I've sprayed cleaners on it to clean, and soak in over night, and nothing seems to get this white again and I can't tell if it's moldy or it's just normal wear and tear. I saw another reviewers comment that they soaked it in a bleach solution so I'm thinking of trying that tonight as I almost threw it away last night. If this doesn't work, then I'm going to toss it and purchase another mat - from a different manufacturer as I feel like this should be easier to clean since I'm doing everything I'm supposed to when Bath time is finished.

True to color. Nice design
The bath remains slippery even where is the mat. I think it is because of the design of the top surface of the mat so I use the mat on the floor near the shower so the floor stays dry when we get out of the shower.

The right amount of 'fun' without being too childish
Superb service. Ordered Monday afternoon selecting standard delivery. Arrived Wednesday morning after an early email advising it was due that day. I have a plain white bathroom with grey trim - deliberately very neutral - and I wanted a bath mat that was either black, grey or white to match. Looking around I saw this (fake) cowhide bath mat. Absolutely what I needed. The black and white pattern (there is also a brown and white version) matches my rather formal colour scheme but adds just the right amount of fun factor. Wonderful. Haven't used the mat yet but there is absolutely no smell, chemical or otherwise, with it brand new. The terylene feels soft and warm enough to touch plus it has a non slip base. Even has a bright red 'designer label' tag at the edge. I'm happy.

It's cute, as pictured, suctions ok to the bottom of the tub, but the top is too slippery. I bought it so I could lounge in a hot bath but I keep sliding forward in the tub despite placing the mat directly beneath my ass, so it doesn't really fulfill its purpose.

Lovely but small
This rug is lovely, but smaller than I expected. I guess I didn’t read the dimensions very well. Wish it was bigger, I still use it though
