Good value for money
Heavy duty and well worth what I paid for it

Incredibly great--not a "pin"
This is so strong and so beautifully made! It's not a "pin" as we normally think of it (unless you have something you can put holes in); the pointy part swivels, and it goes *around*, not through, the material. Start by cleaning off the oil (it's there to protect against rust). Then, (See pictures) 1) Hold it with the pointy part hanging straight down. 2) Gather together the material you want to clasp, and put the curved part on top, and the pointy part *under* it (don't stick it through the material). 3) Bring the pointy part thru the opening on the curvy part, and then bring it on top of the curly part. 4) Swivel the pointy until it's to the side and the material is held tightly. That's it! Enjoy!

Great Price for metal. Perfect for my medieval cloak.
Metal on Metal needs to be oily(lubrication). I gentle rub the oil into the metal and wipe the excess oil off. I will keep the brooch in the bag it came in when I'm not using the brooch to keep the metal lubed. Fashion + blacksmith : you need to know a lil knowledge in both. I would only use this on dark fabrics. Don't put holes in your fabric. I follow a youtube vid titled: 'How to Properly Use a Cloak Pin' by Havoc Herseim. I'm not linking the vid. Links are sus. You can search for the vid yourself. Other vids I saw put holes in the fabric.

Great value, well made
I have used this pin every day since I bought it. It’s sturdy, not too heavy, sharp and easily goes into a sturdy wool blanket. Tip, if you have pets or children, since the tip is relatively sharp, I formed a few little droplets of hot glue to use on the tip of the pin to avoid any accidental puncture wounds. This is the real deal.

Heavy Duty
This pin suited my needs perfectly. I like to wear my wool blanket as a match coat when i'm in the woods, and the other pins i looked at were just too dainty to handle it. This thing is large in diameter and also has a large pin that is rather blunt. For a tough wool blanket which can recover from large holes being poked in it, this is totally fine. It has a plain but nice looking twist to the pin, utilitarian but not ugly. If you have some fine velvet cloak, a scarf, or similar garment you may want to look for a sharper, finer pin than this, but if you have a seriously hefty garment you're using it for this fits the bill. Note that it is mild steel, as after using it once it began to get a small film of rust on top. This is not a flaw with the product, this is just what normal steel does. To avoid this, you can religiously oil it with either gun oil or perhaps olive oil maybe, but the gun oil won't go rancid on you. I'm not worried about the rust, and even if i oiled it the oil would be wiped off everytime i stabbed the pin through the blanket. When you pin this thing, be prepared to use some pressure as the pin is not particularly sharp. It's still pointy though, so of course situate the pin such that the point is away from your vitals (who wants to get poked by a sharp rusty pin, it's smart that this pin is not sharp). Overall, this is a solid piece of kit to handle a heavy garment, not a cute thing for weak costume material or a small scarf. I very well might by one or two more.

works fine for a while
looks good from a distance, but anyone who has used these before is going to know what the huge problem with them is going to be. the part that wraps around the "C" is SUPER thin. like less than 1mm. it's going to open up on you while putting it on a blanket/cloak and bend open then break. that's really the only thing that's wrong with this item. maybe they can address it and take new photos showing the fix later. until then i call this piece a [Fail] - [Do Not Buy] also, my picture looks like it's a little rusty. it is not, that's just the light.

Oil quenched or rubbed on for the look.
So far, exactly what I was wanting and I'm extremely pleased with it being so heavy duty. But it was quenched in some kind of oil, or someone rubbed on oil for the look, and it rubbed off on my hands when I first opened this. It would ruin fabrics. Dawn dishsoap solved that problem. Loving this thing otherwise.

Needs cleaning before use
Well made and sturdy piece but it came in a plastic bag with a bit of oil on it (not unexpected) however it had developed some rust anyway and needed a very thorough cleaning before use. It still leaves some residue on fingers and whatever cloth you pin it with so don't use it on anything exceptionally nice. I expected a bit more care with the packaging and finish for something like this but it does it's job well, I just wish it didn't give me rusty fingers every time I pin on a camp blanket.

No use at all
Pin is really fat would leave a huge hole in a blanket and mine had no gap in it so cannot be used.

Beautiful. Clean it properly!!
I've seen reviews about the grease and rust on this item. This is forged iron and will rust if you don't take care of it. When it arrives just wipe it well with a DRY cloth. Then occasionally wipe it with oil and buff with a dry cloth. Do not wash it, or wet it without oiling first. Should be amazing for hundreds of years ????

Heavy, sharp, and high quality
Absolutely excellent cloak pin. I may buy a few more of this model to help costume a film project.

Perfect for a Viking cloak
Oily on arrival but a quick wipe down did the trick, very nice natural forging marks and simetrical make. The pin is sharp enough to penetrate a tight weave wool cloak and dull enough to not rip threw the fibres
