Excellent Vise at Great Price!

This is an awesome vise, and it is well priced. I use it for several sized skis, from 140mm to 90mm waists. Very happy with it!

Foam pads on center clamp/bracket are poorly attached

Swix is one of the most reputable brands in ski tools, however the design of the center clamp/bracket in this set leaves something to be desired. The cheap foam pads which protect the skis / bindings (see pictures) from the bare metal of the clamp are only attached with a weak two-sided adhesive strip similar to a band-aid. The pads (both sides) came off after performing only three light sharpenings/waxings using these brand-new vise clamps on three pairs of skis. This is especially important if your bindings do not have perfectly vertical and flat clamp points (many don't) which tend to let the skis pop out of the vise unless you clamp down with (appropriate) force, which in turn, puts torsional stresses on the pads and causes them to come off. Swix should really re-design this clamp to have punched holes in the vise jaws and better "through-hole" molded, and possibly replaceable, sticky rubber pads that might last longer. Otherwise, this set "is what it is" and does its job well. Now I must go to Home Depot and find some better replacement pads.

Great budget option!

I use this to work on skis from 74 to 100mm width, with no issues. Could easily go a little wider and still work. Attaches to my portable table, easily, adjusts to different size skis easily and has good grasp of both the table and the skis. A great budget option! It seems to be made of good sturdy metal, with rubber pads to protect your equipment.

Really needed these

Great for holding skis while waxing! Pricy, but worth it. Will last a lifetime. Can always re-glue or add in rubber bumpers. I imagine they would come loose easily with wear and tear.

Proper waxing setup

Every skier needs a vice

For skiers that enjoy or want to wax their own skis and maybe the skis of their friends, it's best to have the right equipment including a waxing table and the appropriate vises to hold onto your skis. Swix vises are well designed and constructed. It's recommended that you wax your skis after every 5 outings. Waxing really does make a big difference. When you hit flat terrains recently waxed skis continue to run and not slow down. As with any other task, having the right tools makes a big difference even it may cost some more money. Swix is THE manufacture of excellent ski products so help the economy of Norway and stick (actually not stick) with Swix.

Good, but needs a bit of quality improvement

very handy. they work perfectly with my Swix waxing table. One issue: the little rubber pads on the jaws of the vice peeled off and disappeared after only a couple uses... I use a piece of bike inner tube in their stead and that works ok, but I'd hope for a little better quality than this.

Sweet deal. Easy to adjust the center vice for ...

Can hardly beat this deal. Been using my home made set-up for 3 yrs. Now this comes along for less than 100 bucks. Couldn’t pass it up. Sweet deal. Easy to adjust the center vice for longer/shorter skis position so it holds the binding. Time will tell if it lasts, but I'm more than happy at the moment. Holds skis flat, 60 and 90 degree angles on edge. Made of metal/rubber.

Quality product

I have used a few other brands and models before going with SWIX and I wish I just gone with them in the first place. The build quality is great and does the job well. The clamp is sturdy and strong so they won't move around when you're sharpening or waxing your skis. Would recommend this to anyone that's maintaining ski equipment at home and not having to bring it to the shop.
