So Far, I’m impressed!
Have had this set up for about a month now, water is still clear (55 gallon tank, 1 medium sized turtle, about 40/45 gallons filled). Was easy to put together/connect…was a workout to prime initially ????, but once I got it going, all was well. Happy with purchase!

Excellent Budget Friendly Canister Filter
This is the 3rd filter I've purchased of this model and I will keep coming back for more. I breed African Clawed Frogs and have 2 tanks with these filters, and they work much better than my 300.00 Fluval filter. I purchased this one for my turtle tank and its working great for Philip the turtle as I expected it to. I appreciate that it comes with all the filter media needed as well. This helps reduce the cost down even more. Many filters do not come with the bio balls and ceramic nuggets. Thank you Sunsun!

The media could not be loaded. So I was skeptical how sturdy this filter would be when I was first setting it up. I have a fx6 for my Oscar and wanted to get something similar for my shrimp/snail tank (55 gallon) without spending a ton so I bought this. At first I thought it wouldn’t hold up and might leak but I’ve had this filter for months now and absolutely love it and want to buy two more for my other tanks. The water is crystal clear and it’s not a strong flow where my shrimp can’t swim. I would %100 recommend this filter to anyone who has an aquarium. This is way better than any hob filter or sponge filter and is extremely easy to set up.

Excellent Aquarium Filter
We have African Cichlid Fish which produce a lot of waste in a 29 gallon tank. We have tried other filters that could not keep up and they didn't last long either. This SunSun Hw302 has been working wonders and the tank stays cleaner and the water is crystal clear! Highly recommend this aquarium filter.

I was looking for a filter that I could begin using during the Nitrogen Cycle process for a my new tank (of course I will be using this afterwards too.) I wanted something that could clean the tank mechanically, biologically, and chemically without breaking the bank too far. I was researching what types of filters would clean my tank really well, while in the process, get the Nitrogen Cycle going. If one can get the right sized Canister Filter for the tank height, they truly are remarkable due to the amount of media that can be placed inside them to filter the water. While filters may say that it works up to "so and so" gallon tank, I decided to go for a filter that could go above and beyond handling a 20 gallon tank and decided to get the SunSun 302. Other canister filters that can handle compatible volume can go upwards to 100 dollar+ while the same price on the market would often handle only half the amount the 302 could handle. Setup was a little bit confusing, the manual for the 302 wasn't too detailed. If this is your first time with this kind of filter, it will take some time to notice the parts of the Canister. Some things to note is the input and outflow, inflow is where the dirty water comes in while the outflow is where the clean water goes back into the tank. This is crucial to know so that you don't accidentally mix the inflow tube with the outflow. Other things to consider is that you will also need to place the tray in a specific order and in a specific way (the giant hole in each tray is for the inflow water to come down to be filtered) Now, I don't know if it came as is, or what. It took some time to noticed that the impeller shaft may have broke. I've read online that this is fairly common with canister filters of not just SunSun, but other companies too because of the use of ceramic shafts (a minute presence of a metal shaft... especially copper.... can be really dangerous to the fishes.) I went to check, and sure enough, it may be the case. One may possibly notice this by checking if there is a irritating friction-like (like a bad brake constantly going) noise once the filter gets going. Either way, an alternative to fixing this sound is to use a form of oil or grease of some kind to stop it. Petroleum Jelly can be used on the impeller to stop that nagging sound. Just make sure to use the bare amount possible. If I could give this product a 4 1/2, I would. Pros: Cheap compared to other brands that filter the same amount of water Has all the necessary beginner media to start cleaning a fish tank. Fairly large, almost the size of the 20 gallon tall tank I have and would take up 1/3 of my tank if it were to be placed inside. Cons: Manual for the product isn't the best. Smaller tanks may not be able to use it effectively.

great replacement for my Cascade
got this since my other filter has been having issues and getting louder (even after replacing impellers). this one is pretty solid feeling, super quiet, and has some great water flow. the hose connection to the canister is great and easy to disconnect for cleaning, and the clamps for the in/out hoses in the tank were super nice!

Good canister filter.
I have used these previously and never had one let me down. I had a new freshwater tank, so didn't hesitate to order this brand again. They are easy to setup and easy to maintain. I have one regret with this purchase however. I should have gone up a size and flow rate. They say this is rated for up to 75 gallons, that is laughable. I have this set up on a 36 gallon, lightly planted freshwater tank. The output from the spray bar is subpar in my opinion. It barely sways the plants and I have to have it facing almost all the way to the surface of the water to get surface agitation. I cannot raise it higher on the side of my tank due to it not having a top rim, so the bar sits about 4" below the surface. It does filter well when set up correctly and with the right media in the trays, just be aware of the limited output flow.

Really nice filter for the price!!
This canister is a raelly good upgrade from my Marineland Biowheel 150! I received everything that was annonced. I did't use the active charbon since i put all the white filters in the bottom, the ceramic noodle in the middle (with my old filter media) and the bioballs on the top basket. The tubes are a bit stiff and the plastic of the water intake and outtake are a bit on the cheap side, but for the price, I can't complain at all! It is really quiet and I can say that my air pump is way louder than this Sunsun filter!
