This flashlight holder’s magnetic base is strong enough to hold it.
At first I thought the magnetic base was weak. But then read you have to remove the metal and rubber cover before use. Once I removed the cover I saw the magnet and it is sufficiently strong enough to hold my flashlight. I have the heavier metal stinger I would have preferred this magnet to be stronger but it is not weak. Good overall.

Good to have
As a mechanic, these are good to have. The problem I have is that the clips break too easy and the magnet which is very strong isn't secured very well in the base.

There's a trick to the magnet
I had read a lot of reviews stating how weak the magnet was, but there were also quite a few that said how strong it was. When it arrived, I tried it first with the paper on the magnet and sure enough it would barely hold itself without the flashlight. I couldn't imagine that a sticker would make that much difference, but I peeled it off (which was a pain, it was really stuck on). Removing the sticker made no difference just as I thought. I figured I would just glue it to a good strong magnet to make it work. But as I was scraping a little more sticker residue off, the shiny outer plate fell out, along with a rubber disc. I think those 2 items are an anti-marring measure for the surface that the magnet goes on, or to weaken the magnetic force for shipping purposes maybe? Well now the magnet is plenty strong to support the flashlight, works for me!

Don't Buy
While I will say the idea is great, but the function is not. First let me say I did mount it properly by removing the black piece between the two magnets and the adhesive. I put the flashlight in the holder and attach it to the magnet that us adhered to the mounting surface. The trouble is when I need the grab the flashlight, the mount (the magnet that is adhered to the surface remains) comes with the flashlight instead of just grabbing the flashlight. Now I have to pry off the holder from the flashlight as its a tight fit to hold it properly and then reattach the mount to the magnet. I bought this to use on my tool box at work and this is not a good mount when you need to quickly grab and use the flashlight.

Strong magnet
This did just what I needed it to do. I stuck it on the front of my snow blower to light the way when I am using it at night. It is strong enough to stick to the blower housing and also holds the 1" flash light tube nice and tight. Even the vibrations of the snow blower do not move it at all. I am very happy with this purchase. It does exactly what I was hoping it would do. Thank you. Tom
