Light did not work. Defective Design In Battery Cap,
I have had a lot of stream lights. This is the 5th one ofthese head lamps that I have had. Unfortunately Stream changed the design of the battery compartment cap on this model and the design is not very good. The battery cap does not push down on the battery holder for it to make good contact with the inside terminals . I can make the light work with the cap off and using my finger to push in on the battery holder but as I said it will not work with the battery cap on. I have one other of these newer designs that works fine. Obviously Stream has made the tolerance too close for some reason, The inside of the cap has a raised plus sign that is supposed to push in on the battery holder. They need to make that extend a bit further out so that it will adequately push in on the battery holder so that the light will come on. I gave a three star rating. Normally I woild give Stream a 5 star rating. This particular light deserves a 1 star rating as it does not even work but I gave it a 3 as in the past they have been very good. I hope this is a one bad one and not a slipping of the qulalty of their overall line of products.I am returning it to Amazon and getting a replacement one of the same model. Will see what happens with that one.

Good for caving
This headlamp comes with two different headbands; one is fabric and elastic for use on your bare noggin, and the other is a heavy rubber strap for use on helmets. I use this light with the helmet strap for caving, and it stays in place well, even when being scraped against the sides of a cave passage, and cleans up easily. The three brightness settings are good for different conditions, depending on the size of the passage or room I am in. Lower light for smaller crawls, map and instrument reading, or eating, and the high setting is good for large rooms and passages. Battery life is good. On a 14 hour cave survey trip I changed the batteries once, in the last hour of the trip, not because the light was becoming dim, but because the built in LED battery indicator (a small red LED) was on, and it was a convenient time to do so before sealing my cave pack and beginning the long slog in a stream passage back to the surface. Although I have not had the light completely submerged, it has become very wet and the post trip inspection showed no water infiltration. The adjustment range of the light (how far it can be rotated on the base) is good, and can be adjusted to put the light where you need it and keep it there. This is a very good, relatively low cost light for caving.

the best, most reliable
I just bought a second one of this headlight because I am so impressed with the old one I have, which is still working beautifully. I live in Minnesota and wear this on my hat in winter and my head in summer to do evening chores. I love the 3 level light choices and the ability to change the tilt. the other 2 brands of headlights I bought all quit or use too much battery too soon. This one is good on battery life.

Septor Stream Light head lights with 7 LED's
I've been using these lights commercially for the last 6 yrs and they are reliable and provide a good light with good battery life that is measured in weeks of use everyday. They only take 3 AAA batteries. I especially like the two style head band straps; one for hard hats and one for that fits over your naked head. I use one of each style of head band as I use them almost every day and the changeover is somewhat of a pain. They aren't the smallest or lightest on the market, but I can not imagine a light that is more reliable. I would recommend this light to anyone. I bought one of the lights when they first became available and my clients would snicker and ask if I was a coal miner. Now they are common as can be in the utility power plants that I consult to. It seems as if everyone has a head light and these Stream Light are the most common among professionals. The only negative is that they don't give you much warning when the batteries go dead. It's full brilliance and then 60 seconds after noticing that it isn't as bright as it was........it's dead. This is no biggie for me as I buy my batteries by the case in all sizes and I keep them changed out often. I'll use a digital volt meter and change the batteries when they get down to 1.3 vdc from the full 1.6vdc when new. Stream Light also makes a very similar head light with 3 LED's and a central incandescent bulb that is only good for gauging battery life. The incandescant light will dim noticeably when the batteries get low, but the LED's are still bright.

The best overall LED Headlamp!
First off, Streamlight--if you're not familiar with them--makes high quality LED flashlights, weapon-mounted lights, and many other LED light products. They make them very well, and for cheaper than most of their competitors(or in the case of SureFire, MUCH cheaper!) I believe the quality of their products to be just as good if not better than SureFire, Fenix, or Insight Technologies, which are the leading LED light manufacturers. This headlamp works well, throws lots of light, and is durable, and affordable! Pros: High quality (Known for their flashlights and high quality LED products) Durable (I have dropped it numerous times and it keeps working) Very bright (50 lumens in highest mode, which is great for a headlamp) Comfortable (padded forehead band and soft wide elastic stretch bands) Versatile (comes with alternate strap, and 3 light modes) Affordable (Cheaper than many competitor brands) Adjustable (LED unit is fully adjustable to angle the lights where you need it) Great Battery Life (last for many weeks of normal 1-2 hours a day use) Cons: A tad front heavy due to the LED housing being a little big. It's not uncomfortable, but it might take some getting used to. Takes only 3 AAA batteries. I would have preferred AA batteries since they have a higher Mah rating, but they probably wouldn't fit. Great for: Camping, dog walking, in the workshop, car trunk, jogging, bike riding, any nighttime activity where you need both hands! So there you have it. If you want a great LED Headlamp that's dependable, affordable, and has great features, then you need to buy this light, you won't regret it!

Great light
Works great. Now I can see where I’m walking at night. Also, its great to know that wherever you look, there’s light. There’s lots of dark places at my work so I use it even on day shifts. Glad I bought it. The band went around my north hard hat and it hasn’t moved a bit since I put it on

Hard hat light
This light is sufficiently bright and has a reasonable quality mounting bracket that secures to a headpiece or a rubber strap to affix the unit to a hard hat. I use it for the latter purpose and it has been excellent so far. It fits snug on my hard hat, does not interfere with my hat-mounted hearing protection and it is fairly easy to get it off of the hard hat to use it with the headpiece if needed. It is not very heavy and does not make the hard hat sit awkwardly.

Recommended
Robust with quality bands. Comfortable. Wide angle beam sufficient for work bench. Effective distance beam about 25 feet for me. Sufficient for walking along a trail. Not recommended for jogging. Control button easily reached while worn on the head. Swivel feature works. Recommended. Though $50 is expensive.

Bright
Really bright and not a battery hog. I wear it at work and have used it almost every workday since i bought it. The only defect of interest is that the o-ring around the battery cap stretched and came loose within a couple of battery changes. I don't work in a wet environment typically, so this isn't a huge concern for me.
