Concerns
I received the mess kit today. It is light weight and compact. The diameter is hardly wider than the spread of my hand. And as a 5'1" person, I have small hands. So this set is really just to cook for 1 or 2 people at most. I took it out of the packaging to wash it. One thing I noticed that I did Not like was a "made in China" sticker on the bottom of the fry pan. It wouldn't have bothered me so much if it were the bottom of the plate. I'm concerned it could catch fire on the fry pan and scorch the food cooking. I tried peeling it off. And I scrubbed. And scrubbed. And scrubbed. And most of the glue still remains. I guess the next step is to boil water in the pan using my camp stove to see if that will burn off the glue. Speaking of cleaning. Neither of the handles on the pot or the pan support cleaning. They flop around and are more of a nuisance when trying to scrub. As far as I can see, neither are detachable. As to how they handle cooking, UPDATE: The sticker glue did not burn off when I boiled water in the pan. As a matter of fact, it doesn't seem to be effected at all. Maybe due to the type of camp stove I have. A single burner that you turn on with a knob instead of a match. The sticker is dead center, but the flame ring is not. As to the pot, it's actually a little small for my camp stove. The first time I used it, it kept slipping off the trivet and into the flames. Burnt my breakfast. I threw some water in the pot and boiled it right after scraping my breakfast out. It cleaned up fairly easy, but it took the shiny off the steel. I had set up in the dark and, when it got lighter, saw that the trivet wasn't sitting properly on the stove. However, the next time I used it, and the trivet was placed properly, the pot still slipped into the fire ring if not placed just right. But once it's placed just so, it will stay. As to how well it cooks? I'm not the one to ask. I ate my burnt breakfast and was happy with it.

I been abusing this mess kit sense 2012
I been abusing this mess kit sense 2012. I have burned food into it, placed it on the coals of a fire and scrub it with a green scratch pad every time I clean the outside of it. I have read some of the 2 and 3 star reviews here on this mess kit and have a few things to say. 1) People you really should not put this on a stove on high heat without something in it. Making it glow red with nothing in it is bad on the metal. 2) Why would you complain about this not being big enough for more than one person. This mess kit is for ONE person. Item description "Individual size for backpackers" 3) I don't know why others are having a problem with the copper coating being thin. I am a bit of a clean freak when it comes to my cookware and other items like that. I scrub the living **** out of the pot and pan every time I use them. I use a green scratch pad on the bottom of them to get all the black soot off. Its going on 3 years and I used this 100s of times and just now starting to rub the copper off the pot. I plan on buying a few more of these. Mostly to replace the one I am currently using, no I think I will use it until scrub a hole in it. I do want a 2nd kit mostly because I find myself wanting to cook using 2 pots or using 2 pans. My last camping trip I was cooking rice in the pot, freeze dried turkey in the pan with spices and stuff. I still needed another pot to cook beans. In the mornings I was used the pan to cook eggs but had two use my cast iron skillet to cook bacon and I had the pot in use with the freeze dried potatoes. Here is a helpful tip. There is a nonstick spray for grilling I have started to use to coat the outside of the pan and pot. It helps when scrubbing off the soot. Feb 2016 update. I posted a picture of the kit. I lost the pot and lid somewhere in my truck or it might of fell out of it. Still the best kit around.

Best Mess Kit for the Money, Hands Down
This mess kit is pretty amazing for $20. I've owned a lot of mess kits over time (Swedish mess kits, USGI kits, East German kits, and various Coleman kits) and most have been cast aluminum, which gets the job done but has the tendency to stain badly and after extended use, gets harder and harder to clean. This kit though is made of stainless steel with a light copper plating on the bottom of each piece of kit. I don't know what gauge stainless steel it is made from but it feels VERY sturdy and is also EXTREMELY lightweight, The Copper plating on the bottom of the pans has been done excellently. For $20 you almost expect it to be cheaply done. This kit however looks like the pieces were assembled with a great attention to detail. The spot welds that old the handles on the pan are very well done as well.It looks as if they were pressed then welded then brushed up. The screws on the pan lid are tight and sturdy, and the handles on the pot are slotted so it doesn't spill when you pick it up but when your done the handle easily folds down and away. Very well made and thought out design. Again, this is a $20 kit I would have gladly paid more for in a store based solely on its build quality. On a camp stove all the items heat up evenly. The copper allows for more even heat distribution which allows for faster cooking and more evenly cooked foods. Cleanup is also SUPER easy as the pans simply wipe clean. Also, depending on the gas flame or open flame, you can get a bit of soot buildup. This is normal. This post cleans easier in that aspect too. After 3-4 uses it's still holding up fine. The plating is as well. I think this kit is DEFINITELY worth the money. Plus it comes with a small carry bag which I totally didn't expect but is very useful and a nice touch. I might buy a few more of these just to have/give as gifts to my camping pals.

Tiny and terrible
This set is to small to cook even for one person, it is as small as my nieces play cook set I could fry one egg at at time and can only boil 2 cups of water as long as I put nothing else in in like a dehydrated meal. The frying pan is off balance I have to have food in it for it to stay on my camp stove the brs300 the copper coating on the bottom cracked and burned off the first time I used it. The pan went red hot. I had to continually move the pan around or it only heated in one spot, the grease from the bacon I cooked burned and stuck to the bottom of the pan because the material is so thin. This set is useless a waste of money…

It is a great light weight, compact stainless steel backpacking mess kit that is good to feed one person under 300 lbs. lol
Reviewing the Stan Sport 360 Stainless Steel Mess Kit. March 2,2016 In summary It is a great light weight, compact stainless steel backpacking mess kit that is good to feed one person.Stan Sport 360 Stainless Steel Mess Kit For those who like to read more: The Stan Sport 360 is a perfect match for my j-creater portable stainless steel outdoor camping wood & alcohol burning stove. The size of the mess kit fits perfect on my stove allowing me to cook with confidence that it is not going to tip over. The copper bottoms on the mess kit heats up quickly so a hand full of wood cooked my breakfast by the river’s edge. Packs size and weight: The pack size is 7”’X 3” (17.78cm X 7.62cm) It nests inside itself and the handle on the frying pan is hinged so it folds over the nested kit and locks in place holding everything snuggly together. It is light to carry at only 567 grams. Go with stainless steel when you can. Stainless is a few bucks extra and a few extra grams heavier over aluminum, however it is not noticeable in my pack or in my wallet. Cooking with aluminum can have serious health repercussions. Materials and quality: It is made of stainless steel with a copper bottom. The copper bottom allows it to heat up quickly and distributes that heat evenly. Using it with my j-creater portable stainless steel stove, I boiled water in less than 4 minutes. Another 15 minutes or so cooked my eggs and bacon to perfection. I read where one person said “ I warped mine a bit “ . No-one else that I know of had a problems not to say there isn’t any. After using it several times, my guess is if you do not have it on a roaring fire exposed to extreme heat, it should not warp. A perfect cooking heat is a heat you can hold your hand over for a few seconds. I personally had it exposed to the direct flames of hardwood to boil water and it never warped. This is not to say giving it that kind of abuse will not warp it. I like the fact that the handles are stainless and not nylon or plastic. This way, I need not be concern with melting handles. The stainless steel handles do not get extremely hot if not exposed to high heat. To be safe, I use a cloth when picking it off the hot fire. The bacon smells to good to drop on the ground. I would off like some sort of a removable handle on the dish but overall with the great fit & finish, great price and all things considered, I would give it a thumbs up for quality and for being a great buy. Having said that, I included it in my handpicked reviewed items on our Lost Caper store at Amazon linked to my lostcaper.ca site. P.S. This week I plan on doing a “finish boil” of maple syrup in the pot so that will be the real test. Copper base is very very thin!
I decided to season the frypan and pot to make them non stick. To do this, I put them on a fairly high heat and added suitable oil and heated it to smoking point then wiped out and repeated the process. At the finish, areas of the copper base had disappeared. The stuff must be sprayed on? I don't know what would have happened on a campfire. Can't see how the "copper base" would spread the heat across the base!

One person kit for solo hiking
Quite a bit smaller than I expected. Would be adequate for one person backpacking but that's about it. Would be good to show a picture with hands holding it to give us a reference. Used it for one camping trip with a propane burner. Purchased a larger set for our portaging after that. Likely won't use this again unless I do a solo hiking trip.
