Stands up to the test of time

I use this set of pots for both camping and my daily cooking at home and it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. These pots can handle an open campfire, an electric stove top, and the inside of the oven for baking. Of course, the bottoms are stained, but I couldn't care less about their under sides. I periodically use steel wool to clean the insides to remove any caked on grime and they look great. I also use these pots as bowls. The removeable handle is easy to attach and detach with a little bit of practice. There's only one handle for the entire set, so my only suggestion for improvement would be to add an extra handle. Also, instead of using the cover that came with the set, I use clear glass covers which makes it easier for me to cook.

Simply Amazing

I live in a school bus conversion so I have to utilize every single square inch. These are replacing my existing Cuisinart 17 piece set of heavy duty cookware. They nest perfectly in my cabinets and have freed up so much space! They are truly amazing to cook with on my gas stove top. No hot spots while cooking with them and cleaning them is a breeze. I am truly impressed by the quality of the set!

Almost 8 years now.

This set has been with me on every trip since I got it seven half years ago. It has been used on gas stoves and open fire and still performs like it’s brand new even though it may not look like it. I’m from Minnesota and camp in all four seasons, so its been out in everything from 90 degrees above to below zero Fahrenheit. Great quality for the price.

first impressions

I haven't used them yet, and I'll update on their performance if anything negative happens worth noting. Out of the box, I have to say the finish on the pan's inside is not flawless. It's not very smooth, you can feel the grooves, and a few sharp/tiny imperfections may leave micro-abrasions on your more pliant cooking utensils. This is my first time receiving new pots/pans so I don't know if it's typical to have a black dusty residue come off when you rub your fingers on the inside before washing it. I rinsed it to see if it would completely go away but I'll probably need a sponge/soap to really get rid of it. However, the thickness feels acceptable and I don't think it will let food burn easily if you walk away shortly. Don't try flipping food in the pan like you have a wok. The handle has some looseness regarding that, but the handle feels heavy and durable and not like lightweight plastic. It is very compact, I'm ecstatic about that. Might not sear three steaks at one time but that's besides the point.

AWESOME cookware. Buy 2 grippers if you don't like the included handle.

Wow! The other reviewers are correct. These pots are GREAT quality even at twice the price. They compare favorably to my Cuisinart set. The stainless steel is thick and these pots will last many years. They are nicely cladded at the bottoms and distribute heat evenly. To save some room in my crowded cabinet, I may just retire my bulky pots with their own unruly handles and just use this nesting set for everyday use. The grooves in the universal lid fit the 1, 2 & 3 quart pots whereas the pan makes a nice dome lid for the 4 quart pot. Note, when used as a lid for the 4 quart pot, either attach the handle to the pan BEFORE you turn on the stove or else use oven mitts to remove the handle-less pan. It is nearly impossible to attach the handle when the pan is upside down. That brings me to my next point. The single removable handle is somewhat difficult to use but well-made. To put on the handle, keep it vertically and deftly hook the J shaped hook to the side connector of the pot. Then, carefully so as not to wiggle the J hook out of the side connector, press the button of the handle upward and slowly rotate the handle 90 degrees. If connected properly (you'll hear/feel a click), the handle is quite strong and can handle the weight of a full 3 quart pot with minimal flex. For my first try with a 2-burner camping stove, I attached the handle to the frying pan and used the 1 quart pot (without a handle) to boil water at the same time. When the water boiled, it was challenging to disengage the handle from the pan (pull the nob toward you and rotate the handle 90 degrees upward and attach it to the boiling pot since both pans and pots were hot and I could not clutch either to simplify the task. I ended up using a Trangia brand pot gripper which quickly clamps to the rolled edge of the pot to without needing to hook anything to the connector. Given this experience, I do recommend you get at least 1 pot gripper to quickly grab a pot since unclipping the Stansport handle may prove to be difficult when the pots & pans are hot. So, here's my strategy in using these pots when using a 2 burner camping stove. Always put on the pot handle on the heaviest pot to be used (in my case the pan) and keep it on for the duration of the cooking. Then, have the pot gripper on stand-by for the smaller pot so I can quickly use it to clamp the pot and lift it. The Trangia pot gripper did just as fine of a job as the included Stansport handle in safely & securely lifting the pots. Rather than foregoing this excellent set of pots due to the somewhat challenging handle, either buy 1 or two pot grippers (depending on how much you dislike the included handle) and you will have a very nice set of cookware for around 70 or less. Even at that price, it's still an awesome deal. (For those who wants to be frugal, the Open Country pot grippers are a bit more affordable at almost half the price of the Trangia.) Lastly, when I was researching this set, I wondered why I would need so many different size pots. One reviewer mentioned using some of the pots as mixing bowls. What an excellent idea for a nesting set that would not take up any more room with 1 or 3 pots! In addition, you can also use the larger pots, the 3 & 4 quart ones as as makeshift sinks for washing dishes or scrap bowls for garbage. Now, the number of pots in the set is just perfect for multi-use! I LOVE this set and recommend for everyone whether you use it for camping or daily use!

These are very nice full size cookware

I bought these intending to use them for camping. When they got here, I realized that I had actually purchased a set of full size nesting stainless steel pots. They are nicer than my cookware in my kitchen. Very nice for the price. I wish there was another handle included.

Shockingly awesome.

These are heavy duty pans. I really expected them to be much more flimsy for the price. They aren’t at all. They’re as high quality as some other pans I have that cost the same price for **one** pan. The attachable handle is also heavy duty, and I have no worries that it will hold when I lift the pan off the burner. I got these for our new camper van. I love that they’re space saving and don’t have a bunch of handles taking space. These are perfect for campers and kitchens with limited storage. Highly recommend!

Manufacturer needs to consider more safety by suppling two removable handles

If you are looking for a nesting set of sauce pans for your RV due to space limitations then this set will work. These are not overly heavy duty on the bottom, but seem to be good for an RV setting as weight is an issue RVers have to be careful with too. I have not yet put these pans to test. The one negative point is that only one removable handle is provided for 4 pans. After looking this set over I can see how only having one handle will be dangerous and could see oneself seriously getting burnt if one was attempting and trying to move the handle from one pan to another while the pans are in use. The Manufacturer should be suppling two removable handles instead of only one due to safety concerns, because safety always should be high on the list of any Manufacturer. For that reason alone I dropped from 5 star to 3 star review.

What? I received a second hand product and charged for the full price for a new cooking set??

My kids love camping, so we've camped and cooked over a campfire almost every Spring, Summer and Autumn for the past few years. As you can imagine, our existing cookware has become very worn. So I was looking for a replacement and was so thrilled after reading so many positive reviews about this cooking set. With no hesitation, I ordered them. After a week of waiting (and with Prime membership), it finally arrived. But... upon opening the big box, the packaging told me something wasn't quite right. First, this product came in a very old and worn out box, which isn't Amazon's fault. But secondly, the box was placed upside down and was unsealed. Without checking whether it was a used set of cookware, I opened the box immediately. Then, I discovered big dents on two pots and a few small dents in the frying pan. There are also scratches on the stainless steel inside the lid. Feeling a bit sad and deceived, I asked my husband to check it out - and when my husband examined the box, he noticed a label which said: "THANKS TO YOU. THIS PRODUCT HAS A SECOND LIFE". What? I didn't order a used product!! I paid the full price for a set of NEW cookware. How on earth was it that a second-hand product got sent to me? This is an unexpected unpleasant surprise! I'd never expected this to happen. It's false advertising. I think I deserve some explanation on this!!

Nice set but arrived damaged

Received my set of pots and pans today, however the frypan has a large dent in its side. Clearly the set has been dropped as although the Amazon carton is undamaged the Scansport box has visible damage. Looks like I'll have to buy a cheap rubber hammer and do some dent removal so that I can use it. The less attractive alternative is to return the set to Amazon and wait for another one to come from the US but I wanted to use the pots very soon. Other than that, I think I'll be buying a basic plier-type pot handle as a back up easier-to-use handle. Overall, the pots look like they will be a great set to use in our camper trailer but because of the ding and the handle I can only give three stars instead of five.

One handle wasn’t sufficient

I returned these pots as although they were well constructed, sturdy, and looked functional, there is only one handle which is awkward to use. It has a button/lever which makes it difficult to take on and off - especially working with hot items. I tried ordering a second handle from Stansport in the US, and they don’t deliver to Canada. I decided to return them and get something that was more functional.

MEETS AND EXCEEDS OUR EXPECTATIONS

This "set of nesting pots" is made of stainless steel as described, has highly polished interior finish to make simple and easy cleaning. Exterior finish is typical of quality pots. Sizes and advertisement details are accurate. We use this set of "nesting" pots for cooking while traveling in our Airstream trailer. Perfect for minimal space requirement for storage and should last as long as our Airstream trailer will, likely much longer than our lifetimes.
