Takes practice in filling to get a perfect sphere

The media could not be loaded. I like the Outset Silicone Ice Sphere Mould, 4.84” x 4.84” x 1.89”, as the silicone ice trays are much more flexible than both metal and plastic. They are food grade safe and durable, but they tend to absorb freezer odours if left untouched for long. Most small regular ice cubes melt quickly and water down your drink. I like these large sphere ice cubes as they don’t melt or dilute as fast. The instructions suggest to fill them 90% but the holes are quite small so not being able to see that how full they were was all guess work. I found after trial and error it gave a better looking sphere to fill to the very top. One big issue with the soft silicone was spillage if something bumped them before they were solidified. Some seeped around the edge but still looked good for highball use or mixed drinks. Lasted for much longer than ice cubes and easy to clean the silicone tray after use. I used next day and they didn’t have any off taste and I imagine they will work great in summer with pieces of lime, lemon, berries frozen into the spheres.

Not the strongest water seal

The idea behind this product is simple: place the two silicone molds together firmly and press the little nubs to lock everything in place, then fill with water. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get consistent results. While the ice cu- ice spheres are a good size comparable to normal ice cubes, I haven't been able to get all four spheres to come out perfectly round each time. No matter how firm or dilligent I am in making sure the trays are placed together, there is always some degree of spillage and half-spheres coming out of the tray when I am finished. I think this could be remedied with some design changes but unfortunately this product came up a bit disappointing for me. I believe a more secure method of locking the trays together is needed.
