For the palest of pale
I love this product, but I'm also the palest person I know. It's barely a tan but it gives me just a bit of warmth after one use which on a cool-toned person like me is actually significant. If I use it multiple days in a row, it will start to look like a real tan but still a subtle one. Probably about half the intensity of a versaspa spray tan on the lightest setting (but for reference, those are usually too dark for me on the first day or two, so this is better). I wanted to post some info since I've been using this long term now and have noticed some things. First of all, I try to shake off a bit before applying as drips can cause some problems. Second, you have to be very careful about how much you rinse it off in the end. If I spend more than about 30 seconds rinsing, I will barely notice the tan the next day. I go really fast, and rub crevices and dry spots extra (knees, elbows, jawline, etc). Here's how I do it: 1. Shower as usual and exfoliate dry areas with a washcloth if desired. Wring out the washcloth and set aside for later. 2. Turn off shower, and shake off a bit so I'm not too drippy. I wring out and clip up my hair so it doesn't drip. 3. I start with my legs and be sure to rub in a circular motion, just gently passing over my knees and feet as those can tend to pick up too much color (same for elbows). I then do my torso, then arms, then neck and face last. It really sucks if it gets in your eyes so be careful. I also brush gently over the tops of my hands towards the end. 4. I use the wash cloth from earlier to clean my palms and fingers and then set a timer on my phone for the 3 minutes. 5. Then I use the washcloth to blot my toes, the fronts of my ankles (weird but that spot always gets orange on me otherwise), and my elbows. Then I rub my stomach again in case bending over made any lines, and anywhere else i think may have dripped or needs blending. Then clean my hands again and wait, trying not to let my arms touch the rest of my body or sides of the shower too much. 6. Try to keep your rinse-off time under 30 seconds, pat dry, and ideally go to bed wearing loose clothing if anything. I've noticed that bras and pant seams can rub and cause problems. I know this all seems like a lot, but I personally hate the feeling of waiting around for a spray tan to process as well as the feeling of the gradual lotions.. This takes some trial and error but if you're super pale and just want a little color, I'd consider giving it a try, Edit: It's about 1.5 years later and I'm still using this tanner. I now leave it on for 5 minutes instead of 3, and that makes a significant difference (for me the effects are basically doubled if I do this). In an ideal world I apply twice on the weekend, and then use the St. Tropez facial mist on my face/chest/shoulders throughout the week as needed.

Gives you a tan, just slightly orange
I think this product would be great if you applied it using a brush. It does get a little orange maybe on the fourth application but it’s subtle. I have pretty white skin anyways and I would say it’s my go to tan product

Not sure if it works for me
I’m already pretty tanned coming from Asian decent. So, when I used this product and followed the directions, the results are inconclusive. I can’t tell if it my skin is more bronzed than it was when I started. But, at least this product is much easier to use and apply than using lotions which can get messy.

Game-changer
When I first tried this, I followed the directions exactly and it didn’t seem to work. At this point I was mad I wasted the money but I decided to give it another try using some suggestions from other reviewers. What I do is shower normally, turn off the water and shake off as much water as I can. I then apply the self-tanner everywhere I want it, not super thick, but not too thin either. Then I very carefully (it’s slippery!) get out of the shower and do something for 10 full minutes, like pluck my eyebrows, trim my nails, play on my phone, whatever. I start the ten minutes when I get out of the shower. Then I get back in and rinse off, no soap. To dry, I stand and air dry if I can stand it or pat dry gently with a towel. If I do this once a week, I have a warm glow but subtle. If I do this twice a week, I get a medium golden tan that looks really natural. Yes it’s a bit of a pain, but I’m pretty pale so I will happily spend 20-30 minutes a week for a nice, golden tan. I’ve tried a ton of self-tanners over the years and while I love the look, I hate the stickiness, application, smell, etc. so I never stick with it. This stuff has none of that and with some modifications to the directions, it’s an absolute game changer. It works!

Not much color
I’ve used this about 5 times now. It’s somewhat inconvenient to have to turn off the shower, step out to wash palms with soap, and wait 3 minutes. But I’m willing to do it to get color on my skin without risk of skin cancer. However, I don’t see much of a change in skin tone when I use this. It says it will continue to darken for 8 hours, but I don’t see any change throughout the day. I have fair skin so I was looking for something that would give me realistic color (not orange-toned) and this does that. But it’s not dark enough. (Mine is labeled “Medium.”)

- One huge plus is that the smell is not strong or bad. - As the product indicates
I've been using this product for a few weeks now and just ordered more. Pros: - One huge plus is that the smell is not strong or bad. - As the product indicates, its a gradual tan, but it hasn't yet made me look orange or fake tan. It looks very natural. - I don't love turning off the shower and waiting for three minutes while it sinks in, but I find this preferable to other self-tanners since I'm not staining my towels or clothes. - All self tanners are a pain to use, this one is only minimally annoying. Cons: - I originally read that you could use this product once or twice a week, but since realized you need to use 3-4 days in a row to see any difference. After using for a couple days of using everyday, once you have a glow, you can keep the tan by using once every 2-3 days, however the tan fades quickly if you aren't being consistent with upkeep. - You have to stand in the shower without the water on and wait 3 minutes for it to sink in. - You have to use a VERY generous amount of the lotion or it looks a little streaky. 1 bottle lasts me about 2-3 weeks using it every 2-3 days.

Did it do anything… Not really
Nope nothing don’t look stupid in the shower. Staying there for five minutes. Covered in some slime. It doesn’t do anything.

Completely revolutionised my self tanning routine just use it for longer than suggested...
This product has completely changed my life. For years I've used gradual morturisers by St Tropez, Garnier, Dove etc, and felt I had gotten the hang of these products to minimise streaks but it was never possible to get it quite perfect... then I found this product which gives a completely streakless coverage and a colour that suits me so well that I actually forget it's not real. Other benefits are that there is no residue left on your skin (or the shower/bath) after you shower, so it can't get messed up throughout the day or whilst you sleep (or by your partner!!!) whilst it develops which also means I can top up my tan whilst my boyfriend is around which I could never do before without turning him orange. I also feel like it lasts longer than my previous tanners as I can get by doing it 1/2 a week! I also personally don't get cold in the shower like other have been concerned about because the room/shower steams up beforehand and holds the heat but I might feel a bit different in the middle of winter. How I use it: The product says use for 3 minutes, I USE FOR 10-15 MINUTES everytime! Yes it is gradual which means I use it twice to get the colour I really want. Product says rinse your hands and feet once you've applied, I scrub mine with soap and a nail brush especially nails, palms and toenails. You need to be liberal with it to get the best effect

Good but not great
This is a bit hit and miss really. It works... but it has to used differently than stated in the instructions. You can’t use it ‘in the shower’ as such as you have to leave on for a period of time without the water washing it off. Which is awkward standing at the end of the bath for five mins getting cold! So you have to jump in, wash with usual gel then step out to apply and hang out naked for a while for it to work! Then get back in to wash off. A ball ache. However it smells nice and the effects are good and non streaky. Will be buying again as it’s still easier than fake tan with the mitt etc. It’s also subtle. My partner hasn’t even noticed I’ve been using it in fact despite normally being paler than Olaf. Overall a good buy, a good price for the brand but just not exactly what you hope for.

Great self tan that is easy to apply
I bought this product to help remove some of the brightness of my super pale/pasty skin before I went on holiday. I had never used fake tan before but my friend recommended using this to build up a gradual tan and at ~£6, I thought why not. I applied this on my own, with zero experience and it went well. The first day I plastered it on all over my body, rinsed my palms and waited 3 mins. I then lightly showered with soap (I did soap all of my body until it didn't feel sticky) and got out expecting to be a bronzed goddess... I wasn't. The second day, I did the same thing and stepped out with a noticeable glow. I went to see my mum afterwards and she immediately commented on my skin, saying how healthy I looked and that I was glowing (and then asked if I was pregnant..). This product definitely gave me the glow I was hoping for after 2 days (maybe if you're not pale it may take 3 or 4 days to achieve a noticeable glow) and would have been a perfect pre-holiday tan had my holiday not been cancelled. I would say I still have at least 2 applications left but will buy this product again.

Apply Liberally, and leave for longer than 3 minutes and you'll love this!
I'm guessing the reason most people are here is that they don't want the fake bake look, who does right? Well i bought this after an amazing holiday where I came back golden brown....of course, the English weather doesn't keep a tan going for long and I soon found myself back to my regular non-tanned self, so I wanted to top it up and see how I can get something to keep me tanned but not over the top. I've seen a lot of reviews disappointed with the results and I have some advice that I guarantee will lead to amazing results. Firstly apply LIBERALLY! And I mean apply a good amount, it should be thick on you and be rubbed in, in circles. If you rub it in and its thin on the skin, you're doing it wrong. Think of a thick grease smeared on you thick haha! That is what i did and it worked. Leave for 10 minutes, minimum. I tried 3 minutes for the first week and got nothing, at the risk of almost giving up I thought let me try a week of 10 minutes left on and see how it goes, i've never looked back. Albeit i don't do this everyday, possibly 2-3 times a week, but in any event it works and there is no streaks, no patches, no dark areas just an even toned tan that is unbeatable! I'd recommend to anyone looking for a genuine gradual in shower tan, and not people who expect to be 3 shades darker in 3 minutes
