Sturdy and easy to use, but inside storage space is tiny.
I wanted a small sewing basket to keep upstairs so i didn’t have to go into the basement where my sewing machine and cutting tables are every time I need to do a simple repair. This box is cute, well made, and comes with a variety of basic notions and threads. I won’t be using anything but the thread and maybe the scissors, but the rest is serviceable for a beginner or making only simple repairs. What I was NOT prepared for is how very small the storage space is compared to the overall size of the basket. The walls of the basket are all over 1/2” thick, so the inner area is closer to a notecard in size. That being said, I can fit the enclosed thread and scissors, my thread snips, a few fabric clips, and a small magnetic pincushion with some good 2” straight pins, but I am unable to fit my fabric pencil, dressmakers chalk, or sewing gauge. I may add a few safety pins but there’s no way to keep those and the fabric clips organized because the tiny storage boxes I have won’t fit in the box with the other listed tools. I’m deducting one star for being called beginners but not having room for other basic sewing notions (sewing gauge, larger spools of thread, etc) and for not having disclosed how small the actual storage space is. It would be a good gift for a brand new beginner just learning how to hand sew, but would quickly be outgrown. I will be looking for a larger box to fit my particular needs as an experienced seamstress. Most importantly: a full size pair of sheers, multiple regular size rolls of thread, and space to be properly organized. I’ll change this over to be an emergency kit for when we travel.

Perfect for college
I wanted to get a small sewing kit for my kid for college. Originally, I was buying all of the pieces separately, but this is a much better value. It has all of the essentials, and also has room to add to and personalize it. It has already seen some use! Totally recommend.

The sewing box is well made, and that's the best one can say of the purchase.
If you want a cute little box that doesn't hold much, as the sides are wider than expected, this is a nice box. As someone else remarked, it has a nice magnetic flap closure. The outside is padded and colorful, as shown. The problem is the contents. Yes, the label states it is a Singer product, but everything was made in China, and it shows. The straight pins have the tiniest heads I've ever seen, which makes them difficult to grasp, and in certain fabrics, the heads might slip through. The needles are all exactly the same in size and shape, including the eyes, which are also tiny. They are so tiny that it wasn't easy to use the (very cheaply made) threader. One had to squeeze the wire hard to force it through the eye of the needle. The sewing thread was very cheap, had no finish such as mercerized cotton threads have, and wrapped around very small spools. The result is that even taking the most basic stitches, the thread snarled and tangled. It took both patience and experience to make it work. One would imagine that beginning sewers, especially children who may easily become frustrated, would quickly become discouraged and decide sewing was more of a punishment than a pleasure. The box also included a tiny stuffed felt "tomato" to hold the pins and a needle ready for use, which is standard; a cloth measuring tape, which was about as expected; and a seam ripper. The latter was enclosed in a sort of capsule that pulled apart, which was a sensible solution to a sharp object, and therefore a common feature of seam rippers nowadays. The spools, BTW, held thread in black, white, and primary colors such as red, yellow, and blue, as well as green and pink, but there was no beige, khaki, or brown. To sum up, one would think that the straight pins would have at least had larger plastic heads, if the reason for tiny metal heads was to save on metal, and a few needles with larger eyes and some variety in length, etc. wouldn't have cost much more than a fraction of the total cost compared to what was provided. There is no excuse for providing the cheapest, thinnest, most likely to snarl and break thread, either. So much for the much-vaunted and once reliable "Singer" name. Bottom line: I personally would not give this to anyone as a gift for the purpose of encouraging the skill of sewing by hand.

Top Lip is misaligned...
Bought this for a granddaughter, thought it would be cute. Took it out of the package, and the lid is mounted off center. The hinges are tight but the lid does not line up to the bottom of the box, the corners of lid do not match corners of bottom. Will be returning it for a different one...

I love the size of this little box! It manages to have all the notions in it that you really need to do small repairs, a hem or two, etc, then you can add in what you need down the road. Perfect for my needs!

Super cute and very good for leaving in vehicle or RV
This sewing box is so adorable. I absolutely love it. The rainbow color dots are a fun design. Its very small, yes but it comes with all the basics and has a small footprint so its perfect for keeping in a vehicle or RV. I was able to add a few basic color spools of thread into it that I use often. I was able to sit outside and hand stitch a project and had everything I needed for on the go. The top is very padded so its good for holding pins with large heads at the end while you're working. It sure beats my old method of carrying everything in a plastic zip bag. If you are looking for a small, reasonably sturdy sewing kit that is an upgrade to those tiny "travel" sewing kits, this is a really great choice. I plan to send one to my friend as a birthday gift. To me, this proves that old saying, "good things come in small packages".

I Can't tell you just how long i gushed over this product and its cuteness . It was so compact and aesthetically pleasing, Even just at first glance. So I do needle fetling and also need some minor sewing into some of my projects. This product has everything i need and does not take up a ton of space (which i Love). It's a cute polka dot design with a sturdy handle and also has a megnetic clasp. Again very handy if you have your hands full and cannot close it. It just magnetizes shut for you. Ahh awesome no dropping my thread and needles everywhere. When you get inside you have a meauring tape that has actually come in handy quite a few times already and i only have had the product 2 days. A pair of scissors Thread, Needles pins ..Pin Cushion. Needle threader. For any fast emergency projects you need to get done. Came well packaged. In the pictures I had already unwrapped everything. Great for travelling and has plenty of room to add anything you want to it..Ex. more thread. Very Affordable, which is a super big thing for me and does not cheap out the Quality. I Recommend you check this out.

Absolutely perfect for what I needed: a replacement for a very small sewing kit in my apartment. Delightfully cute. Very sturdy. Easy to open and close with a magnet latch. Can fit basics and a few full sized spools of thread.
