Difficulty level guideline
Our family now owns 5 of these puzzles. 3 are number 1 level difficulty and 2 are level 2. We all enjoy them , though I havent been able to fully crack the level 2 puzzles - which is to say both assembly and disassembly without any clues or aid. I am a fairly intelligent person and I like puzzles and challenges but I wouldnt claim to be particularly good at them. We also have another adult and a 12 and 6 year old children. The other adult in our household has been able to solve all of them and the kids can both solve all three level one puzzles - the younger sometimes needs assistance. I thought it might be helpful to consider something I've realized about the difficulty levels on these, though I'm not sure it holds true at the higher levels. The number only kind of references the DEGREE of difficulty, in that level 1 requires solving one really difficult element before the puzzle falls into place. Level 2 seems to require 2 difficult elements to over come during the solving process, hence taking longer and creating the opportunity to go awry even after getting one of the elements right without necessarily realizing you've hit that first step and potentially undoing it - if that makes sense. Any way, thought it might be helpful if any one buying a level 1 expects it to be easy in any way except perhaps in relation to how long it may take you to solve it compared with other levels. At any rate these are high quality, feel great and substantial in hand and we enjoy collecting them.

All Hanayama puzzles are excellent.
Harder than beginner but doable if you play with it long enough. This piece is beautiful and of good quality and has a nice weight to it.

Fun simple puzzle, but is it level 1?
This is a fun and simple puzzle in the sense that it has one trick. But is that trick easy to find? It is the kind of puzzle that some people solve in a couple of minutes, and some people go insane trying to figure out. I would call it a level 2 or 3 puzzle.

Classic Level 1 Puzzle
Took about 30 seconds to complete since the solution is a simpler version of Key 2. That's by design, so can't complain that a level 1 puzzle was easy. Just FYI if you already have that one. I would recommend doing Key 2 first though, so that you get a bit more out of that one. Bought mostly just to round out my collection, but this will also make a fund prop for D&D campaigns.

Key brain teaser puzzle is goof for beginners - 2 keys connected together
Some people will struggle with this key puzzle. Very few people will solve it in under a minute. We gave it to our 5-yr old as a gift. So far she hasn't been able to solve it even though I showed he how. This is labeled a level-1 puzzle, and that seems just right.

Really cool "level 1" puzzle!
This is a very nice puzzle, with all the usual "Hanayama characteristics": 1) it's unique, unlike any other puzzle, 2) it's superb quality, 3) it's visually appealing, and 4) it's really a joy to solve. (And the guy who designed this is obviously a genius!)

A sturdy and interesting puzzle to kill 5 minutes. I use mine as a prop in my D&D games

Way to easy
I bought this to try out thinking that it would take me a little bit of time to figure it out. Didn't realize how easy it was as it took me less than 5 minutes to figure it out and I'm no puzzle master. I wouldn't recommend this one, or this level. But other than that, great quality and an interesting concept.
