Decent brand-name 1-gang box

I needed a weatherproof box for a new outlet in an outdoor shed. This 1-gang metal box is from a well known brand that you can often find in the local hardware store. The box has 3 1/2" NPT threaded holes for conduit attachment and includes plugs and mounting hardware. One thing I found odd is that the outlet mounting plates are pressed into place and aren't removable under normal conditions. Other boxes I've used have had mounting plates that are removable which is something that's come in handy once or twice when a box is a little overcrowded. Still, the price is right and I didn't have to go to the box store to get it. Recommended.

Weatherproof Box

I bought this to house a Leviton 5278-CWP Straight Blade receptacle that would allow me to connect a 110V generator feed to the inside of my Mom's house to allow me to run her boiler if she lost power. It worked perfectly. Some silicone caulk around the opening where the Romex entered the house and it's exactly what I had hoped.

It's pretty good.

The box doesn't come with a center cover, which is 3/4 while the ends are 1/2 in. The screw in covers are plastic, not metal now. There are a pair of legs for mounting. I didn't see that in the description I used it to terminate an indoor BX run. It worked well..

See the slim mounting plates for the cover top and bottom, well they rust in use only a year. The rest of the box is fine. It is good that the plated are made to break off held only by tabs as that is how you end up having to get the front cover off. Granted the box was being used in a shrub bed in Florida, getting lots of rain, sprinklers, and high humidity. In may areas the box would work well.
