Great Shimano mech.

Phenomenal shifting machine. Paired with zee shifter, unbeatable. Used with 10 speed cassette on on a 4x style bike. Snappy shifting with clutched chain retention.

Not as advertised.

Clearly advertised as DH. But is actually the freeride version. Not the most expensive fix as it's just the axle bracket needs changing. Luckily I have all the parts required. If you want the correct part you need:- Shimano #Y5Y598060 – Bracket Axle Unit for downhill mode (28t) instead of Shimano #Y50Y98010 – Bracket Axle Unit for freeride mode (36T) that's supplied. I don't like being misled but luckily for the supplier it won't affect me. Still a poor show tho.

The media could not be loaded. 07-Feb-2023 Rode a black diamond graded rocky garden with this setup and no chainguide. I’m impressed that my chain did not come off. Well done Shimano Zee! 12-Jan-2023 I’ve ridden this in rocky trail section so many times now. The combination of clutch rear mech and narrow wide oval chain ring and NO chainguide is great. I have not dropped a chain since installing this. 04-Dec-2022 I use this to replace a worn out non-clutch sram x9, 9 speed rear mech. I kept my sram x7 9 speed shifter. I just dialed the L-limit screw to ensure it doesn’t go past the 9speed cassette. I already used it on the trails today.The rocky ride doesn’t unravel the chain anymore. My lowest gear is 34 tooth and my chain ring is 32 tooth oval. It’s a 1x9 setup. Full sus. Good bike hack. Happy with my purchase. Thanks.
