Super portable, Fair ride, Great for short calm trips, Until it leaks
Updated about a month from purchase: Lowered to 3 stars One of the inside chambers deflated while I was out on the water. The others were sufficient for me to finish my short trip and get back to shore. Obviously that's not a good sign and given I only took a handful of trips with it I would say this is not rugged or reliable for anything other than short, close to shore trips and casual flat water fun where you don't need to go fast or far. -------------------------------- Original review of 4 stars: I've taken this out a few times now and feel comfortable saying the good and bad about it. The Good: - It really is SUPER easy to inflate *and* deflate thanks to the dual direction pump. It pumps air when you press up *and* down so fills twice as fast. You can then connect to the other end of the pump and suck the air out when you are done to make sure it's fully DEflated and easy for transport. - I timed setup the very first time I used it without fully knowing where each spot was to inflate. Took 7 minutes to full inflate and another two or so to figure out how to put the "seat" on. Ten minutes from car trunk to water is kinda perfect and makes em want to use it more and more. - Genuinely holds heavier people. Unlike many inexpensive inflatables this will easily hold someone 250-300 pounds (Says it's rated at 400 ). Doesn't sink or get low to the water and stayed fully inflated for a 3+ hour trip. - Back support is comfortable. I didn't experience ANY back or butt fatigue on a full afternoon of riding this on semi calm waters. You can fidget a bit and the Back support with the inflated #5 chamber and the attached "seat" work well. - Easy to carry fully inflated. Easy to carry empty. This is ideal for folks who don't have a lot of space in your home or apartment but want their own kayak to run around with. once inflated I could easily carry it under one arm down to the water too. Neutral: - As others have said the paddle is not the best but it's adequate for shorter trips or if you're hiking and need something super portable. It comes apart in a number of pieces and I found it study enough using it's strongly and gently. A lot of people are posting it "fell apart" which I can only guess is because they didn't properly assemble it in the first place. - Paddle SIZE; No one's posted the specs that I could find so here you go: 86" long, Paddle end is kind of rectangular 5.75" wide, 13" long. Slight curve in the middle. NOT at ALL like a swivel type that many kayak paddles are and compared to those it's a much smaller design so you won't get as much water and power. I'm posting a picture next to a more standard (and what I consider very good paddle) that you can easily find for $40 or less. Again, the included paddle does the job for basic fooling around IMO but obviously a better paddle is, well, better. If you're going to use this Kayak a lot I'd defineitley say spring the $40 and you'll be a lot happier. - Pump does feel "cheapish" but had held up ok . The hose is REALLY thin so I'd be more concerned about that. If I were going camping and HAD to have this I'd invest in a better hose at least and perhaps a better pump to be on the safe side. FWIW I putter around locally and so I'm happy with this one so far (and Like I said I LOVE the dual pump and deflate part). - No real storage. You could put some small bag or something between your legs in the front i guess but because of the balloon design there is no hull to speak of and no place to store things. There's a cup holder for a water bottle and you could work a sandwich and something small under the triangle net in the front if you have a wet bag. I took the pump out that way on my first trip and it was fine and I brought some rocks home from another trip that way but you're not bringing a family size meal or a lot of extra things in this unit. The Bad: - Tracking- As many have posted this does not track or glide well, Especially against the wind or up river even on a gentle current. You will at least lose 30% of your stroke, possible a LOT more with the way it goes left and right and left and right with each stoke. If you stoke and wait it starts to go sideways or turn around even in calm water. How big a deal this is depends on how serious you are about going somewhere. If you just want to paddle around and enjoy nature it really is fine. if you are on a trip or with people with hard kayaks you will have trouble keeping up, - SLoooooow! - Along with the tracking this is not a fast Kayak. Basically you are on a balloon on the water so any current, wind, etc is fighting against you a LOT. Again, this isn't a big deal if you are just puttering around but if you want to do distance (even a 2-3 mile ride in one direction) you may find it very frustrating. Going down calm a river it was easily 2x-3x faster than going up so again, if you are in a group with hard kayaks (even sit on tops) you may have problems keeping up exploring. - Backpack is tight. I don't use the included back pack as anything but a seat but having deflated and taken this out a few times I imagine it would be VERY frustrating to fit the thing back in that small space. personally I toss the deflated kayak in my trunk or back seat after a drying or wipe down and then roll it and put in in the box in my basement. If you want to have it take minimum small space of hike with it it may take you more time than it takes to set up just to fit it in the backpack. Overall I'd give this four stars (see UPDATE lowered to 3 stars) . If it handled better I'd go up on that even with the basic paddle and pump because it really is a GREAT first or basic kick around and USE Kayak on calm and slow trips. I would NOT ever take this somewhere where I'd have to go up against even average wind or current and certainly not on rough water when you may need to steer a lot. It's find for longer "time wise) trips, but it you need to cover actual distance it might be a bit frustrating and slow. Cruising down river or a lazy lake is kind of perfect though. Perhaps most importantly for intro or newbie kayakers it really seems to be the best in it's price range (especially for bigger folks) and does set up and fold up VERY easily and quickly so you will USE and ENJOY it not buy and forget it. If I get more serious about kayaking I'll buy a sit in hardshell that moves fast just so I can explore more but I'll keep this around because for easy transport, basic exercise, and enjoying a beautiful day on the water this really is great.

Honest Review by a Big Chick!
Ok, when I purchased this, none of these ratings really helped, so my rating is going to be very honest and hopefully help some ppl with their purchase decision. First- I'm a big girl- 38 yrs old, 5'5 355 44DDD. Yes, that's relevant, in a moment I'll explain why. I bought this bc it's weight capacity says 400lbs, & I figured it would be a perfect way to figure out if I wanted to, would enjoy or could use a hard shell kayak, without spending $500+ So I'll start with set up- relatively simple. It's heavy when folded up, so if you're weak, or have any mobility problems, this maybe tough for you. I laid it out in my living room and pumped it up. There's 5 air chambers, 2 large, 3 small. I chose to do it at home rather than at the water, simply bc I was so unsure I could do it all alone. I fit it in my Toyota Camry, fully blown up/assembled by angling it from the back seat behind the drivers chair to the front seat in front of the passenger. Not ideal, bc I couldn't see out the back but I was only going a mile. I put mine in at a boat launch on a very slow moving river, which ended up being very helpful bc of the incline of the ramp. I was nervous to try and figure out how I was going to get on this thing without flipping over or making myself look foolish. I decided I'd just straddle the seat & sit in one motion. Done. Since its inflatable, and somewhat flexible I was able to get my leg over it and adjust my position while straddling it and standing in the water. As another reviewer mentioned, the middle sinks slightly. My rear was soaked but I was pleased to be on board. Since the middle sunk slightly, both the front and back end, were lifted out of the water a bit. Now, here's the honesty part. I'm top heavy, my chest gets in the way slightly, and so does my belly, however I am able to sit up right on the floor with my legs together, in front of me, but it's not terribly comfy. I found sitting on the kayak, with my legs in the leg rests, while balancing, very difficult. If you carry most of your weight in your belly, you may want to consider a canoe. The seat back lends little support on this kayak. I ended up sitting with my legs straight out but open with my feet slightly hanging off. Much easier, and gave me a bit more stability. I paddled around for about 2.5 hours on my maiden voyage. Never flipped, but had a few close calls. I was quite proud of my little adventure. When I returned to the ramp I found it slightly difficult at first to exit the kayak. But moving to water that was just about to my knees seemed easier. I used the paddle for leverage, and rocked forward, and stood up. About the kayak itself- very durable. The material used is very heavy duty. I had no fear of ripping or snagging it. The drink holder is useless for bigger folks. The paddle is ok, since I'm a beginner but I can see wanting better quality in the future. All in all if you're a beginner, I think it's a safe way to learn. Great for slow moving, flat water. 400lb weight rating? I'd say it's more like 300lb person max, with 25lbs of gear split between the front & back ends to balance the weight out a bit. But it's fun, relaxing, & gets some exercise in.

Great kayak but not the most stable
Easy & quick to inflate but deflating to fit back in the backpack isn’t as quick. Once up there’s plenty of room,it’s comfortable but does dip into the water when paddling, probably didn’t inflate enough. Definitely not intended for the coast, especially if it’s a bit choppy

Good product
It does all it claims and if you are careful you can keep dry. Yes, a paddle upgrade is necessary in my view. I love it.

Arrived today, going back today
Was looking forward to using this as most of the reviews were good. Not bothered about the crap paddle as after reading the reviews I bought a better one to use with this. This all arrives in good packaging in a massive oversized Amazon box so be aware if someone takes delivery for you and when you send it back it's UPS only otherwise expect to pay. Anyway, instructions say pump up to the recommended psi. So where's the gauge on the pump or the kayak? There isn't one and to avoid drowning I'm not that keen on guessing! Our SUP pumps won't work for as the kayak valve is just a hole that you push an adapter so you can only use the provided pump. In all quite disappointed
