Good shock damping without compromising performance riding
UPDATE: 11 MAR 2016 While I liked the 5019, I opted for the Planet Bike Comp saddle, which was only 145mm wide. This 5019 is 203.2 mm wide! The Comp saddle is 333 grams. However, I just recently switched from the Comp saddle to a WTB Volt Race, 135mm wide (narrow) that weighs 243 grams. There's minimal padding and shock absorption designed into the Volt Race. I have found over the years that the excess padding and shock absorption aren't really necessary. The Comp saddle has minimal padding, but I'm able to do 20+ mile rides without pain - although the cut-out isn't enough to relieve more perineal pressure. My bike is more of a hybrid road bike, and my riding posture has about 45 degrees of torso lean, so your mileage will vary. I measured my sit bone width to be 110mm, so I can fit the more narrow 130mm wide saddles. Original review: Planet Bike 5019 Men's ARS Spring Anatomic Relief Saddle The Planet Bike 5019 is the widest men's saddle that still qualifies as a road bike saddle. It is 8 inches at the widest part of the saddle, and has elastomer springs - which look a lot like rubber bushings. One of the things I noticed is that it is easily a pound heavier than the original road bike saddle that came with the bike. Some reviewers felt that it is a cruiser seat, although I have to disagree to a point. Yes, it is quite wide for a race saddle but I didn't have any issues with rubbing while fully tucked in on my road bike. I did have to adjust the seat to find the right spot. I'd say it is more of a hybrid between a cruiser seat and a race seat. It certainly felt much more comfortable than the standard seat on my bike. My bike is a 25" road bike from Wal-Mart (Genesis GS700), which came with a Vitesse "Race" saddle. I noticed that Kent International manufactures a lot of different branded bikes for department stores, and that Target and Meijer also had bikes with the same horrible saddle (6 inches wide, hard as a rock). After 2 miles of riding, my sitting bones were numbed by the original saddle. The original saddle weighed 12.5 ounces, while the Planet Bike 5019 weighed in at 1 lb 10.7 oz. I did notice that the 5019 can be a tad wide if you are a dedicated road racer, there's another Planet Bike saddle that is narrower at 7" which is the ARS Standard. I opted for the 5019 because of the springs and the gel padding. After biking 16 miles over the weekend, my butt feel fine even with the numerous potholes, ruts, and bumps on the paved bike trail. The Planet Bike 5019 did the trick and is made of a similar material to my Ducati motorcycle seat cover. I did have to adjust the 5019 several times before I got the right setting. I'd recommend doing the same before you consider returning it. The width did not interfere with my thighs while riding, and I did numerous different maneuvers to test it out. I biked fully tucked in at maximum gear to check my top speed and did not notice any rubbing. I counter-steered as much as I could through the chicanes and corners and didn't feel any interference from the seat. I cannot fathom going back to the original saddle. Overall: 5/5 stars. The elastomer springs (bushings) could be softer to provide even more damping capability, but the padding helps out as well. Some people might find it too wide, I did not have any issue with the 8 inch width. I'm 6'3" 160 lb and prefer this seat over the original 6" wide race saddle.

Planet Bike A.R.S. vs. 5019 vs. 5020. 5019 Wins!
I'm not a fan of the bone-hard standard seat on my Giant CoMax 1 and I found the gel seat covers to provide a minimal improvement as the gel is too soft and can flatten out too much in the very flexible cover. So, I decided to get the Planet Bike 2019, 2020 and A.R.S. seats and compare them. First, some background: My bike is a road bike (Giant claims it's a hybrid). I ride paved trails or paved roads, generally less than 15 miles at a time. So, I am not an intense rider. First, I tried the 5019. This is a wide seat, shaped generally like the ones on the heavy steel 1 - 3 speed bikes of old. The kind with springs underneath the rear. That's not to say it is heavy or looks old. It is heavier than the original seat on my bike, and the other two, but not hugely so for the type of riding I do. The seat definitely made a positive impact in terms of taking the harshness out of bumps. A definite improvement over gel pads. However, in my case, it just moved the pressure from my backside to my inner thighs. Or, maybe I just noticed the pain in my inner thighs after my backside pain was taken care of. In any case, I still wasn't comfortable. Plus, this seat does make by otherwise hi-tech bike look kind of dorky. And, if that didn't matter, people wouldn't be buying $100+ Oakleys. So, the main reason I bought both the 5020 and A.R.S. seats is because nobody answered my question about the the difference between the two. Both of these seats are approximately the same size and shape as the seat that came on my bike, save for the extra thickness due to the gel padding. The 5020 is vinyl covered. It has the open slit running down the middle, running all the way to the tip of the seat. It has 2 slight mounts of thicker gel on the sit-bone area, as well as a lesser amount of gel wherever there are pressure points. This seat is a great improvement. The gel is confined and, therefore, it does not move or flatten out. It provides a noticeable amount of comfort improvement. The channel prevents moving pressure from the sit bone to the more sensitive parts up front. Unlike the 5020, it does not cause more pressure on my thighs and looks like it belongs on the bike. My only negative comment is that I don't particularly like the silver colored inlay surrounding the slit, especially since my bike is black and red, with no other silver. My Giant gel seat pad fit over this seat perfectly, suggesting this seat is not much bigger or bulkier than the original seat, despite the gel padding. Unlike the 2019 seat, this one looks like it belongs on the bike. Finally, I tried the Planet Bike A.R.S. seat. This seat is very much like the 5020, with the following differences: Rather than vinyl, the seat area is material, like micro fiber or car seat type cloth. Although I didn't try it, it seems to me it would absorb water and stay wet for a while, whereas the 2019 could just be wiped off. The second noticeable difference is that the slit does not go all the way to the point. I think this make a big difference in how it felt. While still an improvement over the standard seat, with or without a gel pad, it did not provide the comfort up front that the 5019 does. Otherwise, the 5019 and A.R.S. are very similar, except the A.R.S. is all black, the only + I give it over the 5019. Bottom line: the 5019 is my choice. Now, only if it came in solid black.

Bigger than I anticipated
I'll save it to give to someone. Much bigger than what I need. But it seems quite sturdy and well-built.

Great Upgrade for eBike Cruisers
I bought this to replace the stock seat on my Aventon Pace 500 eBike. It is not too big as some reviews say. It is the same size as the OEM seat and much more comfortable. I use it together with a Suntour NCX Seatpost with the red spring. It really smooths out the ride. Going over bumps is virtually unnoticeable.

Crotch numbness gone. Seat is bulky, but works.
This seat takes a little getting used to. I came from a small seat that put my junk into numbness after about 7km. This seat has most certainly alleviated this issue, but is a bit wider and bulkier than I’m used to. It didn’t feel entirely comfortable at first, but softened up a bit over the first month - or I broke it in? I did find that I needed to tilt the nose of this seat a bit further up than I would normally. It could be due to the bulkier back, but I tended to move forward on the seat while riding. In any case, I ride a hybrid street bike and this is exactly what I needed to stop crotch numbness. Good price point and there doesn’t seem to be any quality issues after using for a couple of months.

Excellent seat, and great seller
My husband is a pretty big guy and was finding his old bike seat to be really uncomfortable and to not give enough support. This one is amazing, and he loves it! Very comfortable and he can ride on our bumpy country roads for as long as he wants. As a bonus, the seller of this product is absolutely FANTASTIC to deal with and responsive to questions. You won't regret this purchase!

Nice Seat
Quite a bit thicker than my old one so I'll have to adjust the height...It would be nice to have the ability to mount a flashing light on the back of it...

Super
Compre el asiento más ancho y no me funciono, por suerte la marca tuvo esta opción y esta perfecta para largas distancias. Cómodo fácil de instalar
