Made pretty solid except few plastic parts.
It seems pretty solid and well built except some few moving plastic parts. If they make the plastic moving parts with aluminum or somekindofmetal, it would've been great transport wheel chair.

I hate buying anything made in China, and this chair is a perfect example why.
I ordered this chair last week for my Mom, to replace the 30-lb Invacare chair she now uses. I unpacked it this morning, lifted it up by the strap handles attached to the seat frame, and boom! one of the handles tore loose. The sheet metal screw attaching the strap to the seat and frame pulled out of the frame, leaving a screw hole just a little bit larger than the screw. Obviously, the screw had been installed incorrectly during assembly. Man... was I furious. I sat right down at my laptop and started a return, swearing never to buy another big ticket item from Amazon again (this is the second defective wheelchair I've received from Amazon this month). Then I calmed down a bit and thought, "You know? This is what it means to live in America today. We're all totally at the mercy of Chinese manufacturing, and when it comes to anything metal, the Chinese suck... SO HARD! And forget about Quality Assurance. They don't speak QC or QA in China." So I made another cup of coffee, went online to check Home Depot's stainless metal screw offerings, found what I needed, went and got the slightly larger screw, and fixed the damn thing myself. Then I cancelled the return. We have to have a lightweight transfer chair, right now. The Karman equivalent is $150 more and doesn't have handbrakes that can be locked by the occupant. I won't buy anything else from Drive if I can avoid it. So this Hi-Fortune chair will have to do. I guess if you can get a 97% solution to your problem these days, and you don't mind putting in the other 3% yourself, in the form of extra time, effort, stress, and expense, you're actually lucky. Otherwise, the chair is fine. I give 4 stars because I don't want to dissuade anyone from buying it. But little by little, standards get lowered. We start settling for less, until less becomes the new standard.

Smooth safe ride.
I do not do reviews. That being said, because this is in the health related area and I know how people struggle to find devices that will work for their circumstance, I decided to write this review. Had this for several months now and it is perfect for comfort, convenience and transporting my wife who had several stokes. She weights 135 lbs and is 5'5. The 21 lb weight of the chair is so much easier to get in and out of the SUV or car trunk. Most wheel chairs are in the mid 40 lbs. Folds up easily and compact. Arms fold up to get under shorter tables. Foot rests are much easier to deal with than a wheel chair. You can lift the bar that the foot rests on up by the passengers knees if needed. Super stable to move with. Can turn down anti-tipping wheels in back on steep slopes. Seat belt is more useful than you think. It doesn't take much slope to make passenger feel like they are falling forward and the seat belt helps. Hand brake for driver puts good pressure on the tire for fast stopping. The hand brakes for the passenger don't allow the wheel to move after they/you set it. The best part for a smooth ride and excellent braking are the pneumatic 12" tires. They are rubber which allows for positive braking that you would not get on hard plastic tires. You will not be disappointed. You get what you pay for and this is not cheap. I have used this on grass scenarios, and it has worked well. But I would hesitate to use it for extended time on grass or rough terrain. I don't feel this is really what they were build for. It is perfect for hard surfaces and entry into restaurants and business establishments etc. where the door-sill may be raised. The rubber tires give a smooth ride over many obstacles that plastic or hard tires would not. The inflexible tires on other brands may even stop suddenly and forcefully against the object instead of going over it. This in turn will throw the passenger forward. Do check out the width, because this is not meant for a wide individual. It fits my wife with a few inches to spare.

Well engineered, EXCEPT
I had 3 weeks with this chair in hospital rehab so many PT,OT, and a wheelchair insurance rep reviewed it. Positives: light weight, easy for my wife to fold and place in the back of an SUV. A Sedan would be tougher. In and out folding foot rests with pull tab release. Seat padding and backing well made. Seat and backrest slot receive support cushion easily. One must/can choose their own seat and lumbar support cushions for sustained use. Arm rests(non desk type) well padded. Well placed pusher handles and brakes. However the big negatives for $500: It's 27 1/2" wide; difficult for 28" doors and corners. I'm 5'6" and with foot rests FULLY extended, all providers pointed out, I need 3" of height to get my thighs level and therefore well supported. That makes the back support insufficient in support height. The width to height ratio cries for two sizes: A narrower chair and seat, foot rest length a bit longer. A second chair size with the same width and seat but much longer foot rests. DS

Looks great. Light weight. Comfortable and sturdy!
This has been a great transport chair for my 85-year-old mother who has dementia. She can't propel herself with a normal wheelchair and would just bash into the walls and furniture with the big rear wheels. these smaller wheels have caused no damage to the house while still letting me get mom from point A to point B without hurting my back. I had back surgery a few years ago and I simply couldn't take the risk of hurting my back again lifting a standard wheelchair. This one is light-weight and very easy to use. Mom finds it very comfortable. I only wish I could buy extra seat pads. But these wash easily and there have been no permanent stains that I couldn't wash out by hand in the bath tub. Lots of compliments because it really looks sporty. And we always know which chair is hers if she's doing respite care at the local retirement home. This was a GREAT purchase!!
