Nice and small and great but hard to fit in Bug Out Bag because of bladder tops

I like that these are smaller and more useful than similar products. I've wrapped the plastic bladder bags around the filters, secured with a rubber band, and stuck the straw in for a convenient, small roll of equipment for a bug out bag. But since the bladder lids are in the middle of the package, it's hard to put more than two into another plastic bag without wasting a lot of space - the two bag lids are in the same space as each other. Hopefully that's clear in the attached picture (pay no attention to the sticker; the bag was repurposed). It would be great if an updated version of this product would put the lids off to one side so that you could flip one over and the two bags don't take up extra space when placed next to each other.

Best item in my back pack

Everyone should have one of these filters. Economical, compact, light weight and works great. I use it all the time and give them away as presents.

Good filter, wish I could by the filter without the extra plastic straws and water bags

I have been using these for for years. The only problem is I cannot find where to purchase just the filter. Plastic is terrible for the environment and everytime I look to buy a new filter it comes with items I do not need or want. Please just sell the filters. No need for extra straws and water bags.

It’s a Sawyer.

I purchased a Sawyer brand because of its popularity and reputation. I purchased the MINI (x2) because of its performance specs, simplicity and price, and to make sure that our go-bags each have a reliable water filtration device to use along with virus-killing water purification tablets, should boiling not be possible in an emergency. There are, of course, more expensive alternatives that actually purify water and would obviate the need for chemicals or boiling. I may get one of those too. But I’d still prefer reliable boiling and Sawyer filtration, where moving parts and replacing filters is not a problem. The Sawyer MINI in/out bags are another story. They’re better than nothing, but are really too small. I still pack them for backups (waste not, want not), but have replaced them with better designed non-Sawyer bags = additional expense; hence, 3 not 4 stars.

Always great

I do a lot of backpacking and have had to use these in game ponds, water was brown and very dirty but come out clear and taste great. I have one of these in every pack and even keep one in my vehicles. I have tried other filters and haven't found any that are as versatile, you can use collapsible bottles, store bought bottles (smart water type bottles) etc. I have even made dry sack large camp systems using one of these.

Great product.

I bought these to put in my outdoor bag. It fits nicely in my bag and it does everything I expected of it. Easy to use etc. great little product and it’s cheaper to buy it as a twin set so I’d recommend that.

This is my third or fourth purchase of these!!!

Why anyone would buy a "LifeStraw" when they could have one of these is beyond me. They filter at a much finer level, do 100,000 gallons (WAY more than the lifestraw), and are WAAAAY more versatile, with the extra attachments, bags etc. Why do I love this unit: 1) it has a very, very, micro fine filter, that truly filters water so that it is safe to drink. 2) unit is very small, super lightweight, easy to pack, and durable. 3) there is no way I will ever use it enough to exceed the 100,000 gallons maximum. 4) there are lots of attachments that can be added for versatility. 5) really inexpensive. 6) super easy to care for; just back flush and you are done. What I don't like is everyone LOVES my Sawyer, and I keep giving them away; I just can't stand seeing someone going hiking or traveling remotely without the ability to make safe drinking water! So I keep having to buy more, as I keep an "emergency" one in each vehicle, in each "go bag", in the aircraft, and in every building we frequent (house, shop, hanger...); plus we have our "take away" ones for when we go hiking and camping. If you are comparing this to other units, really take a look at the specs: how fine is the filter, for how many gallons is it good for, and how easy is it to use and pack. Don't just get the one your buddy has or is more well known. Trust me, this is the best one.

No price on preparation

Let's face it, you spend 98% of your time indoors. Yet deep down you know that one day you'll find yourself dehydrated in the bush staring into a murky puddle of cattle urine after hiking through a post-apocalyptic landscape after the global collapse. Time to soothe your parched throat. Women will offer themselves to you. Men will praise your utilitarian preparedness. You'll be invited to the last remaining commune for tea and scones. You, a true gentleman, will be spared the crude violence of the masses. The gift of freshly filtered water will flow for all who cross your path.

Amazing filters!

I cannot say enough about the versatility of these filters. Very very small which is amazing for backpacking, just back-flush the filter with fresh water after a weekend of use with the included syringe for easy maintenance and cleaning. Connects to a standard water / pop bottle, use as a straw, put in-line with your water bladder or my personal favorite use an old water bladder as your dirty bag and use the filter as a gravity fed system. I've had the luxury of decent water sources on my backpacking trip so cannot speak for dirty water sources, however; have been very happy and have not had any water related ilnesses while on ym trips. Thanks for the amazing product!

Natural water sources, no mud puddles

This was purchased for emergency situations so we have not used it. It filters an impressive amount of water. We were a bit disappointed that is is only recommended for natural water supplies; lakes streams but no mud puddles. You never know what emergency conditions bring. We were overall happy with the product.
