A good price for plastilina
Couldn't find plastilina locally in any significant quantity, and this worked out well for me. I had looked into diy, and really didn't want to go through the trouble. I wish this material was a little less firm, but it actually worked out well as a medium to create forms for slip casting in ceramics.

I loved this stuff so much I bought it again.
Modelling clay is "the sketching of modelling". That's what it's for. Sketching out your ideas, practicing your art skills. It's wonderful for that purpose, and what artist is beyond needing more practice? This stuff doesn't dry out, and is always ready for your next idea. Once I model out something I like, I then take to doing a lot of drawing practice from it, so I work on both modelling and sketching with this stuff and I love it. Before I bought it the first time I was worried maybe it would be too melty with gravity pulling down on it esp if I made huge block sculptures, but it holds form very well. It's sturdy but not soo sturdy that it's too hard to carve into. It's just perfect! I took the entire 5lb block and made a big fox head out of it with large ears, and not even the ears lose form and it's been sitting around for weeks now. Forget awkward armatures I like carving into large blocks, it just feels more real to me, and this stuff is cheap enough by the lbs you can easily do that. Maybe someday I'll buy enough of this stuff to try a whole figure in life size, that would be fun to try. I don't know what else to say? It's really fun making anything I can imagine with it (well trying to lol). It's next gen playdoh for adults, it can be reused over and over and over. Where was this stuff when I was growing up? There might be better brands, but honestly this stuff is soo good already I don't feel a need to shop around. Maybe in a few years I'll become more discerning over my clays. Yeah, by then I'll be wearing a stupid italian art hat and a scarf even though it's summer.... ahh yes, pretentious artistry here I come! That hatred you feel inside you? Sculpt that!

Smells like CAKE!
It's a great stress reliever as it doesn't harden and one can reuse it. I still have one block (purchased it over a year ago), have given chunks of it to my kids to mold things and they say it's good to ease stress. I use it for this too too. It smells great, like CAKE, and easy to clean up. Do not eat it, though lol. It does not taste like cake (one of my sons found out haha), but it's definitely a great and cheap way of stress relief!

Very soft, easy to work with, but I don't like the smell
I normally work with Sculptex for making molds and models intend to resin cast, but it was out of stock and I bought this for an immediate need. I can use it similarly to the softest Sculptex, but I personally find the smell of this Plastilina very offputting. It has a sweet, fake vanilla candle smell that filled my workroom within minutes of opening the package, and is difficult to get off my hands. I imagine they must add this smell, because no other polymer or natural clay I've worked with has a strong scent. It would be nice if they offered this unscented. I will discard my unused Plastilina when my usual medium arrives. Additionally, the package I received was a solid 5-pound block, not 5 individually-wrapped bars as the description suggests.

its non hardening because its hard to begin with
This stuff was hard to use. It felt much harder than I anticipated and I spent a good chunk of time trying to loosen it by kneading it with my hands as we watched TV. I expected it to become much easier to use over time and by working it, but it didn't. Instead, I realized my kids would not be able to use this very well without a lot of frustration, and I ended up giving it to someone else. This is not good for kids, in my opinion. It would have made for a lot of frustrated kiddos.

I use it for making models to use as a reference for the paintings I create. It works great for that. Very malleable and easy to work with.

Does not dry out, holds shapes well, scrub your work surface after use
We purchased this for use with learning forming letters and numbers as my son needed a tactile and kinesthetic activity to reinforce his learning. We've had this over a year and it has not dried out or deteriorated in any way despite being hap-hazardly stored in cheap ziplock baggies (which aren't always properly sealed at first... I correct this when I find it!) in a corner cupboard in our kitchen. My kids love playing with it to sculpt and make small models and figures. It is stiff at first, but as it is worked with, it becomes more pliable quickly. Even though we purchased solid, plain white, the kids enjoy it because it is sturdier than play-dough so figures stand up better and hold features and fine details well. The only downside to this clay is that after my kids use it at our table, there is a residue that takes a bit of scrubbing to get off the surface. It's not as easy to clean up as play-dough, but it also doesn't dry out which is a huge plus. It worked great for forming the alphabet letters and numbers. It works well for right-brain (creative) learners to do vocabulary as well because they can form the word in clay and then use more clay to create a scene or object to help them remember the definition. This act of creating really makes the experience memorable to them and helps cement in what they are learning.

Clay preforms well
The clay was smooth and consistent. It did not dry out but stiffened just enough, when allowed to rest, to hold fine detail work.
